Yangshuo was so peaceful and quiet when I spent 3 weeks there just chilling and practicing Chinese the summer of 1998. I also enjoyed a different glass of Chinese liquor 白酒 each night with my dinner, many from Sichuan for some reason. Happy memories. Enjoy your precious memories with your family.

one day in Yangshuo isn't enough, you should rent a scooter (30 yuan/day) and stay there at least for 3 days, Yangshuo is the paradise for all the photographers, the guide should bring you to climb at least one of the mountain, from the top you will see the amazing breath-taking scenery.

when you travel to China especially for the famous scenery spot, you have to be used to the crowds and noise. most of them are from tour groups, as China is still a developing country, travel with tour group is cheaper than solo travel. most of old generation （lots of them are retired） do travel with tour group as their kids need work and can't go with them, the old generation either can't drive or don't have a car. with the tour group, they don't need worry about the food, transportation, route and accommodations as the guide will arrange everything for them. meanwhile to ensure the safety of the old people, the guide has to use the speaker to make sure no one was lost during the trip. sometimes the guide needs introduce the background of the scenery spot that also makes noise. that also happened when Chinese tour group went to abroad as most Chinese can't speak English, they have to travel with tour group. but the young generation from 80s, 90s or 00s, they are more independent, they like to do the solo travel instead of traveling with tour group.

What you just said does make perfect sense, that is how we see it as well. It is very pleasant when the tour guides use a microphone that transmitts to the earphones of their guests instead of those megaphones which ruin it for everybody. Many do, many don't.

@@Just-Us-Travel if the guest use earphone they may have dangerous as they can't hear the scooter or bike or car coming when they walk through the scenery spot, although this is annoying but that also show the quality of life for Chinese old generation as people in some other countries even can't afford to do a domestic travel.

China is beautiful, clean, safe, the people are so friendly too, the only downside for me is a little crowded and chaotic in some touristic places (it's expected for a country with such large populations).
