Today I played Star Stable Online and talked about why we might miss Old Star Stable. The quests, storyline, content, horses, shopping, and pets were just different. Even the community felt different! I forgot to mention the Star Stable News but that I think played a big role in why we also miss it, if you happened to watch it. Anyway, I hope you liked the video!

Many of the new players don't know the feeling of the old Star Stable, I totally agree that the horses looked terrible before and a lot of things but actually, I really miss that. I really miss the old stable, the old animations, clothes, quests, horses, and updates. It was so fun back then.

Me to, I've been playing since our stater horses had wobbly legs and droopy faces, and I know the game is really cool now and looks awesome their graphics are amazing but I miss the old horses I miss the nostalgia I miss the feeling of it.

I can't explain how emotional I got when they took away the Fjords. When they took them away, I was almost up to being able to unlock them. So much reputation was wasted, and the specialty of them got taken away and replaced? Why? The Fjords were a reward for all of your hard work and such. If I saw anyone with an old Fjord I would respect them, and still to this day. I can't believe they completely wiped them. I also miss the ice berg, I went on it once because I always thought it would come back but... I suppose not.

What I've learned from SSO is to take what you can while it lasts because they remove things so suddenly and don't explain why, and if they do, it is not that valid or could have been avoided or done better. But now because of this, they really try to get our money because of FOMO rip.

I was also almost there with reputation then! And suddenly the cute Fjords I've worked so hard on (and I have problems with routine) were the "bad", "old" version for everyone, and they even didn't make the new ones a reward!

*I forgot to say that in Old Star Stable times we also had the Star Stable News Show!!!* I don't know how I forgot that, but I used to wake up early just to watch it and see what cool new things the show talked about that Star Stable added to the game. It was so fun and I think it brought the community together for a while before it ended! *AND* The Potato Race, Easter, the old Midsummer Events, the hype, etc. If you think of anything else, comment it!

I feel like the Star Stable News show wasn't really an "old SSO" thing, since real old SSO, didn't really have Social Media appearance or image It was more like a mid-thing, like in Star Stable's puberty phase lol It's weird how everyone talks about "old" and "new" but don't see how it evolved/ grew. It's just old = good, new = bad At some point they needed to start to change. Old graphic were outdated and washed out. And it was just a long way to make those changes :/ Ofc not all are good, but not all are bad either and a lot of it is also a matter of opinion

Then: Lisa was a rockstar Alex was the coolest ever Linda was a nerd Loretta was a mean bitch Tan was just tired of life Now: Lisa is a pure, boring, basic country girl Alex is a whiny and unsure kid Linda isn’t even a real nerd anymore she just likes to read Anne is the best one right now (probably because we didn’t have her in the game before so they couldn’t change her so there’s nothing to really be mad about Loretta is kind Tan went to psychology and is now kind and caring So what I’m trying to say: Back then everyone had different personalities, it was different and it was funny. I loved Alex she was so cool, never doubted and always wanted to go on new quests. Now she is an unsure little kid who is scared of everything. Also they make everyone look pretty much the same. Like Alex and Loretta have very similar faces. I want some variation, everyone doesn’t need to look cute or perfekt (Just Anne, and bobcats needs to be perfect) I miss when everyone was different, and what happened to Lisa? Seriously.. She went from a hard cool rockstar who was never afraid. To a questioning, country girl who have never even harmed a fly, and she just sits there with her guitar (YES ITS ANNOYING AS HELL) These days I hate everyone of the soulriders. I personally feel like sso removed the things in the game that made star stable star stable. They're making it more modern, kid friendly, easy and plain. Like a normal boring horse game. I remember myself feeling scared, but exited, when I played sso at night due to the music, graphics etc. It felt like a whole adventure logging on, doing quests and doing magical stuff. Now it's just about dressage, races and representation. And ofc horses and money. They honestly need to make us vote more and decide together as community what this game will turn out like. They're basicly forgetting that we exist and it's sad to see.

The only bugs in old SSO I remember were the ones we used for fun, like looking through YT just to find a way to be a wild horse... I miss that. Starstable removed the store in Silverglade because they couldn't fix it so that it couldn't be used for glitches. Because 90% of the old SSO glitches depended on going into that store.

You`re 100 % right in what you`re saying. This game has changed so much, + hardly any of it (apart from the horse graphics) for the better imho. It`s just not the same game that i joined anymore. It`s been "dumbed down" so much. I`ve been playing 8 years, but i rarely log on now. It`s only when there`s actually something to do, + lets face it, that, sadly, is not often. It saddens me to say this, but, I really believe SSO has totaly lost it`s way, + is just spiralling downwards to it`s demise. :( Great Video btw.

I think the main problem (kind of) is that they changed their target demographic. Around the time when the Spirit/Jojo event happened, as a rough estimate, is where they switched from a teen MMO to preteens and younger.

First time I played sso was back in 2013 and we had nothing much here but still enjoyed the game. Being a new player back then was better imo because when you arrive at Moorland everyone around has starter horse but unique cloth and horse gear. And you feel like despite you're new, you still fit in with them. Like, you're not so far behind them and soon you will get your own style! And now? Now Moorland is full of different players with different horse breeds, pets, gears etc. So you feel like you really nothing here and you have to pay to be as cool as them(( (but all these new stuff is definitely good!!)

This video is so on point! The game is so destroyed. The new SSO crew thinks players are bots and they don't even know where SSO came from. They are trying to make their own type of a game that has nothing to do with SSO. If anything I think they hate the original SSO, because they need to change and delete every single thing.

Star stable doesn't undersrand the power of delayed gratification and incentive of challenge. Little details were huge to make this game memorable: steves mice traps with little cheese that we did a quest for, the orange cat that then became a pet in-game, the "lance+anna" tree carving, the tiny stick animal we did a quest to make and it sat on a pillar in silver glade hall. The detail is there now, but they don't connect it back to the storyline.

I am a new player (started playing in last year september) but from the pictures I would love the old fort pinta and others back. The old graphics looked a lot more realistic. They could have just kept the graphics like that but still updating the horses and characters. This comment is only my opinion and I did not mean to offend anyone.

I can totally agree every word you’re saying. I’m playing sso since 2016 and I remember that cozy and warm feeling. Every weekend I went to my grandparents just to play sso and I loved it. It felt like I’m in the game by myself and explored the game with other players. I remember that I had many friends and persons who helped me by some difficult quests. Nearly everyone of them quits the game..

3:33 the reason they removed that shop from silverglade village is because a lot of people used it for performing bugs. but still, it kind of upsets me that they didn't say a single word about this, nor tried to patch it, just removed it altogether.

i agree with you on everything. personally, i think the downfall of sso started when they ended the news show. it was the first bit that they took away from us before proceeding to take more away from us. After the news show stopped, you could kind of see how sso started neglecting the game and players, only focusing on money. The fact that players ended up coming together and starting a movement against sso just shows how much sso fucked themselves up.

You're exactly right about the holidays-- the first year sso was out, we couldn't buy other horses and for April fools day, they changed our horses to different colors (pink, yellow, blue, polka dot). For valentines day too, they had our starter horses send us mail with a unique valentines shirt and a "secret admirer" letter

You speak my mind. I can't begin to describe how sorry I am for these changes and how much I would like the old starstable back. Friendly people, the motivation to really go out and play every day, to get to places we couldn't, or to get horses, or quests, so we could have the highest level I could. I also don't think that we have changed, but that the game has changed and unfortunately for the worse, yet how is that possible when they have more and more money? Everything that was mentioned in the video is completely accurate.. I would also like the old characters, locations, bus, shops and more back. They removed 2/3 events, like top model. I always looked foreward to top model... Even when it overlaped with other celebration. Lags were unforgiving, but it was at least aveileble. About speeding glitches and programs, on Raindrop Shore we have plauge of cheaters. Raport obviosly people with 00.02.12 minute records. Recently they restarted boards but it was nightmare...

Omg, I only now realised that you don't even have to go the mailbox anymore and just click the red mail thing, so no need to find and run to the mailbox. Also now when I did the main quest after Wednesday's update, you don't even have to collect the stuff. There is auto collect!? This is so boring!! These creators don't know what games are!!! I don't want a game like "no need to do anything", so useless. This new SSO thinks players can't cope by themselves and have their own brain as if we were some lazy potatoes. I want to be independent, find it, do it and everything myself! My god, every day I login it is more and more disappointing. Soon this game is going to be like "just watch and we play for you"!! I haven't experienced SSO before February 2019, but I remember that the emotes showed above your head, like chat, if I'm correct. I've seen Old SSO VS New SSO, and in my opinion, old SSO looks WAY better, more realistic as well! It's so sad it's not like this anymore.. Old Silverglade Village was SO MUCH FUN! Just getting onto one of the house roofs and dancing on there was AMAZING! I'm so upset it's updated more.

I have to say it's a very subjective matter. I don't miss the old SSO at all apart from pure nostalgia. Back then I played the game only while we had quests. The moment I ran out of quests I would stop because I didn't feel like doing anything. With the new improved graphics, better horse models, animations and all the new places and activities that offer great role play potential, I play every day, and don't miss quests at all. It's all about what kind of gameplay suits you the most and what you like to do. What I do miss is having snow all over the world during winter.

@@Ferindel That's still a subjective thing though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sound cocky, but for example, there are people who don't mind the characters. Especially new players who never interacted with the old SSO. Plus there might be a story driven element for some of the changes we are yet to learn about. However, I do have to agree about the holidays. While I understand they are trying to make the holidays more "inclusive", I generally dislike how they have gotten rid of all standard European holidays. If nothing else, the game came from Sweden, and since Swedish people celebrate Christmas, Easter, and so on, it makes perfect sense to include those holidays in the game. It's not their fault if their game is played by people from other cultures. That's something I will remain bitter about.

I have only played for five months, so I know nothing about the old sso except from videos. I am totally agreeing with you. I joined on Christmas, 2021. I found the game really fun! Now I'm level 19, and the games getting boring, but I never stopped playing bc I spent so much money on the game. If i could choose between old sso and new sso, I'd choose old. Luv your vids btw

i miss the time when quests were still fun to do... now its mostly just talk to this person for 10 minutes and then ride from A to B and then read 10 minustes again and then u have to wait 6 months - 1 year to get new quests. and when we got new areas before, there was so much to do. like epona had so many guests and it took multiple days to complete but now most of the characters in game doesnt have any story on them and they just exists on the side. also i agree with u with the shop thing. it was so much fun to explore and try to find new clothes from new places but now its all just 1 click away that it takes the fun away.

3:40 i think you’re talking about the fashion barn! i remember it so much. i remember the jackets that were in there ( they are still in the game but being sold somewhere else ) and i got really excited buying one. i think they removed it because of the glitchers and how much the fashion barn is with those glitches, star stable had to remove the fashion barn because of it. i really liked it though and they should’ve kept it. the glitches weren’t doing anything bad to the game from what i’ve seen.

I didn't start playing sso till real early 2017, but I like to try to experience what older players had by playing the star stable season rider games and starshine legacy games. Yes, it's not entirely the same, but it's the closest I can get to what the older players experienced, that or by watching videos. I still have my original fjord which I refuse to get rid of, because I spent so much time building up the rep to buy one. It actually took me forever before I realized that the stamina bar was no longer a obstacle. I still keep pressing the forward button instinctively, because I was so used to having to do that for years. And I honestly enjoyed having to keep pressing it. I also, I might be the minority when I say I absolutely loved the tedious task of caring for your horses every couple or so hours. Yes, having to care for your horses only once a day is nice when you're in a long drawn out quest and nowhere near a stable, but it takes away the realism and the bonding time you have with the horses without having to care for them constantly. And as much as I was kind of annoyed by the global chat being filtered with advertisements of clubs and dressage practices, I miss that so much, now. It let me know that people were still active and playing. Now, I am lucky if I even see one advertisement for any kind of club... I know the lack of players have to due with me being on a more quiet server with less players, but even the quiet servers had enough people on them where the global chat was always active. So, people aren't wrong when they say it's nostalgia, but it's not just that. It's the little things that doesn't exist anymore or no longer serve a purpose. I've seen a lot of these types of comments about sims 2 compared to the sims 4, where people would say that the only reason why people like sims 2 more is because of nostalgia, and they aren't fully wrong. But they are ignoring what sims 2 simmers are saying about why sims 2 was better which has little to do with nostalgia. Love your video, by the way.

Don't forget to get a bus card! I'd forget that card at my stable sometimes and then I needed to head back to pick up the card. I also was a pro Starstable player and knew how to win races best... I used to win races... or wait till about half an hour before closing times and try set a high score for the day :(

I havent played sso in a loooong time because of it changing and becoming less realistic... I mean the main storyline isn't really realistic but... I mean like the fantasy horses and stuff... don't like it.. but litterely every reason in this video is why I stopped playing... What I miss the most is probably playing together.. and the holiday I miss the most is the old Halloween. I started playing like 11 years ago. And tbh 2015 was the best time ever existing. We had nice events like easter, christmas with an actual Santa Claus, midsummer and so on. It feels like the players where less toxic (maybe only how I recognized it, like I was a kid back then) the quests were really nice (I only like the latest story quests, its like it isnt even a story that makes sense) and of course the snow. Okay we got the snow back last year but all the years before it just dont felt like christmas. In real life and in sso. And the attidude from so many characters was different. I am still in love with Alex but back then she was so much more like me and someone I want to be. Nowadays she is still a lot like me but it isn't the same anymore. It isn't just the nostalgia, it changed so much that it feels like an different game. I mean yeah progress is imoortant and okay but to change the game that it is like an another is a jit to much in my opinion.

It isn't that "we" just grew up! I was 64 years old when I found this game, firstly because I had two little grand daughters that love horses like their Gramma, and I was looking for a horse game for them to play. Well, got sucked in too and the three of us are still playing Star Stable Online. The community was so happy back then, everyone had so much fun running races, doing quests and champs and I agree about the holidays! They have literally taken away every holiday celebration they used to have in the game. Why? Because someone got "offended". Offended by what?? OMG, I just can't get over all the changes the new owners have made. Yes, the horses are more realistic, the characters are, well, kind of ugly. And they all look the same, and they don't have facial expressions like we were told they would have, except in the creation window. In game, they all have those sour faces and no expression at all. I wonder if the person or persons who first had the dream of creating this game are still around. I wonder if they see what has happened to their dream. I keep hanging on to Star Stable online because I have loved it so dearly for so many years, I don't know what we would do without it, but man, you are so spot on with your opinions; I just wish there was something the community could do to make them listen. Honestly. I came back after 5 years and i no longer felt the warmth of the game. Those little details that made the game special got removed. The bus at Fort Pinta being a prime example as well as the missing shops. Horses that had restrictions on them like reputation or region no longer matter. It's like the developers stopped caring. Because they did. They made the horse models more appealing sure but other than that, there's nothing left. The game is now more kid friendy which, sure, no problem with that, but at the cost of the appeal to older players. It's truly sad.

(I know this video is old af but I found it just now) I hate the way that sso is changing and I am very much aware that they have to update the game to stay relevant, they made some great changes too of course. One of the parts that I hate the most is the fact that people are claiming that sso is getting more realistic, hell nah, the horses may look realistic but the old graphics of the terrain and all of that looked way more realisitc in my opinion and they had a better vibe. I'm also not a big fan of how new npcs look, some of them look cool either just because or because of how they are animated but most of those new characters especially female ones have a massive same face syndrome. Its funny that I say that because there is a lot of old characters that have the same sprite (grandmas for example lol) but what im trying to say is that I wish they would make the characters and horses more cartoony and stylized something like we had a long time ago. I'm honestly thinking about making my own au for sso and making the designs look very similar to the way they used to be

I've been playing since 2014 and have 6 accounts and agree with everything in this video. I used to love Dino Valley, and spent SO much time in there. But without the Kalters and their little dailies to collect stuff, I rarely go in there now. And regular horses used to slow down in there because of the cold, and you needed the faster Fjords, etc to get around. I also loved doing Champs, and still have dozens and dozens of ribbons. But they have absolutely RUINED some of the champs now. The pony champ with the ridiculous balloons and 'whooshy' things, and same with Valedale Champ and Fort Pinta. I don't even try them anymore because what used to be a fun experience to be the fastest is now just an exercise in frustration at all the obstacles. The only thing they changed on the champs that I do like is the ability to practice them. If they ever change the Jorvik champ, I'll be so angry! That has always been my fave champ. I still play daily, but spend most of my time buying a few horses when they are on sale and then gathering fireflies, finding hidden satchels and the wild horses, and training them up that way.

the old holiday quests really are a big loss - they were so much fun with the easter „eggs“ that you could find all around which would give you items and stuff. also the global store sucks so bad imo. also things like being able to open your mail everywhere is just so weird to me… they really removed anything realistically. which they’d at least give us the old events and maybe the cold tolerance would be nice to see again.

I wont lie I wish that they would make a different storyline if they are updating the characters or even just end the plot soon and then start a new one with new characters so the older players can enjoy it, the community is also quite toxic now as I have seen so many fights in global over something or other and it's upsetting, it also feels like a constant beauty standard with the constant new horses and tack with clothes, I tend to leave for a few weeks to save up star coins for a horse i'd like to buy but then they release a new/updated horse and then you see everyone with that horse and you feel like the odd one out :(

I feel the same way, I played SSO for a while after it first released and it was amazing but I had to quit for a couple years due to some life issues. I have recently gotten back into SSO at the start of 2022 and was slightly overwhelmed with all the changes that where made. The game is still somewhat fun and I play it to pass time but it just does not have that same feeling anymore.. :(

the global store and just making things more ‘convenient’ etc ruins the novelty of the game, nowdays it just feels like a big “hey we have money” stunt as theyre only focusing on updating graphics, the only quests we seem to get now are some kind of graphics show off, like the trail ride in firgrove, trail ride in ghv, baroness racetrack update and the most recent area between mistfall and firgrove. everything is too open now, theres nowhere to stand in steves anymore after the update so no one has that specific place to go, i dont know about other servers but im on cupcake valley which has always been the most popular uk server but hardly anyone is on and there are no big clubs anymore, the game just isnt fun, theres so many trail rides that just take up map space, its a waste and no one is going to walk around these trails and admire the scenery that looks exactly like the rest of the map, theres no where unique with how open everywhere is, ghv is all green, forgotten hills, hollow woods, i dread what theyll do to dv

(long btw, i've got a lot to say and nobody i talk to plays sso so i can't really have a convo about this anywhere else sksksk) i've loved the advancements they've made with the better graphics and animations and the like, but they've definitely taken a lot of stuff away that i liked, or just generally are changing the feel of sso. my memory is not good, so these *giant* gaps in between story quests are a big issue. i don't even really remember most of the story as i've been playing for what will be 9 whole years in November, and i feel like this is a newer phenomenon as they seem to be pumping out more new or updated horses, *especially* with the magic horses (which i wasn't the biggest fan of since the first "jorvik wilds" were kind of an eyesore to me, but the newer more nature-y magics have kind of grown on me), updated areas and tack, or new races. i also haven't really appreciated how often they push star coin bundles. to me, that and the lack of actual story-based quests have definitely made SSO feel more corporate and less like the funky little filled-with-intrigue horse game that i stumbled onto one winters' night. tbh i got super wary of this more corporate feeling happening when the collab with Spirit rolled around, but that's probably partially thanks to my dislike of the new Spirit since I grew up with the old movie haha i do think a lot of these new changes (getting rid of stamina and the global store especially) are for the sake of SSMobile, which i think is a scary step and can only see that making it feel even less homey tbh. it's been weird. i like the growth they've had, but i guess the best way to describe it would be that it feels bigger now. me especially being almost entirely a solo player more invested in story than being in clubs or buying the latest items, i feel kinda left behind. i miss the snow in the winter. for a while i figured that had just been a fever dream or something 'cus i remembered it, but there's not really any mention of it anywhere when i try to look. i miss that feeling i got when i entered the Hollow Woods for the first time. i miss the hype that opening up the Goldenleaves area used to have, and i miss the times when i spent literal hours in Dino Valley because i loved the atmosphere and feeling of adventure it brought. the Wildwoods and Mistfall almost had that same vibe but they felt a bit, cheap? the Wildwoods especially, since it was largely just a place to put their new horse models with a bit of a story that honestly feels disconnected from everything else on Jorvik (why can these Wilds talk when before it seemed only those connected to a Soul Rider could? especially after one of the story quests which i won't mention for the sake of spoilers) when before it felt whole. even the addition of Epona felt more tied-in to overall Jorvik than the newest areas, and i still love running around there. now, i definitely feel the community has changed as well. i'm not the most social player (i rarely talk, even when i was in clubs), but i feel like with SSO being more focused on "new, new, new," it's caused a dip in the players that are really just there to explore and get invested in a cool horse-centric story. especially after seeing most SSO videos on youtube being those of buying all the newest items or horses, it's kind of made me disheartened. i love lore and story, and it's what first got me interested in SSO because it wasn't just another "go thru the game to get the best horse and win the world championships to save ur farm" type game. it was instead fluid, and gave me the ability to find what horses i actually loved while still exploring a vast and peculiar world instead of focusing on training for the best stats or whatever. but now, it seems story has taken a back seat, and not many players feel as approachable. i really only find people who ask to see my stable or want horses from me anymore.

i agree with you 100%. I will be talking a little bit about why star stable has changed on Rattle's podcast that releases probably February 5th. The changes that have happened to star stable are really not fair to players. My memory is also not good- even when storyline quests were more frequent, I still would forget what happened last. I forgot that we even saved Fripp recently until I saw it in a video. Star Stable just seems to take everything special and then just throw it away. I made a video recently called "Logging Back Into Old Star Stable" and in that video, you can see how DIFFERENT star stable was only just a few years ago. I really hope this game gets fixed, because everyone I know has quit or is quitting.
