I have another mistake though: XC/CX instincts. When you learn all your life to keep wheels tracking the ground, you rather pump a double or dead stop before a drop naturally, without even thinking.

Can you make a video where you're actually teaching a novice how to jump? I think it would be helpful to see the actual learning process for someone who doesn't already know what to do.

There are many such videos. While some give great advice, they won't teach you how to jump. Jumping requires desire, commitment, and repetitions to become even modestly passable. Kyle Warner has a good video on the subject, and fluidride has a good jump series. You don't need to learn how to bunny hop first, though it can help under certain circumstances. Watch a few videos, find some good tables, and get your ass out there and start practicing.

It sounds weird but whipping the bike sideways slightly and staying loose is the best way to jump smoothly. Freezing up and doing nothing in the air usually ends up in a rough landing.🤯 Dead sailor = 💀

I've always had the foot slippage problem on bmx*, but never with motocross. Went out for the first time on my first MTB (hardtail, with 29s) and this happened again (only once out of ~ 30 jumps, but still if I was on a much bigger and steeper jump this could have been a bad crash.) Unfortunately this means I won't be building up the confidence to hit anything bigger. I've always found it ironic that I can hit a 120ft double on my CRF 450 no problem, but a little 15- 20ft (~8-10ft in height) MTB/bmx jump has me scared to death because I don't have the same air confidence. My going theory is that on MX: Pegs don't move (Pedals and cranks move ) Pegs are side by side (whereas pedals are not aligned (a front foot and back foot) I have a larger mass to squeeze for stability (the seat, gas tank, engine compartment, etc.) And of course, I have the throttle to adjust myself if I am not coming into the face as I would like to This all leads me to be more one with the bike. It's the same thing with snowboarding vs skateboarding. I am super confident snowboarding, but not skateboarding (I feel more one with the board because I am attached) So now I need to figure out what I need to do to. I've always wondered why there are no clipped pedals in bmx, so this Is one thing I can try, however when I am in the air, I can still accidentally push my rear (left) foot down which moves my right(front) foot up and off the pedal because I've now partially lost my balance. I am quite sure my fundamentals are fine, I've been bunnyhopping for 20+ years. (Or maybe there is some small detail I've missed and I've managed to get this far without it, but I have no clue what it could be) (*Not actual bmx, dirt jumping... I only did a bit of park, but it didn't seem to be an issue there. Additionally, only my front (right) foot comes off (see explanation above) and this only happens on steep jumps).

Serious question from noob: where should eyes be looking throughout the jump?
@Hardworkpays209
@Hardworkpays209 2 жыл бұрын
Looking straight at the lip of the jump picking your best line(one that you’re most comfortable with) coming into it then as you’re coming off the lip start thinking about moving your eyes to where the landing is and start looking at the landing while you’re in the air then boom you did it!
@ImCrooky
@ImCrooky 2 жыл бұрын
You always want to be looking as far down the trail as you can, even when there’s jumps. There’s no point clearing a jump with too much speed, not paying attention, just to go bailing over the next berm. Always be thinking about what’s coming next, rather than being reactive to what’s right in front of you.

The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.

@George-yt2ne
@George-yt2ne 2 жыл бұрын
In these videos they go on and on about popping techniques. If your not clearing it it is 95 percent not having enough speed. A good jump should not need a lot of technique to clear it. I find hitting a jump with good speed and compressing (not trying to do one wheel first or any bs like that just pushing the bike down) just a tiny bit (personally if I compress to much I dead sailor) should get you over the jump. If not you probably have the wrong bike or it’s plainly a bad jump. Get more speed!!!

You are probably running sintered breake pads. They need a cirtain temperature to work properly. Just change them to orcanic ones: a bit less breaking power but way quieter. And they don't need to heat up as much before they work as they should! ;)
