This is pretty bad -iirc Dunbar didn't publish his idea in a peer reviewed journal and let consensus build against or for, he just wrote a book (a way to circumvent direct, initial criticism from experts, and make money). There seems to be many peer reviewed papers criticizing his idea and refuting his evidence.

Well, i believe it is only a hypothetical number. We all vary in sizes, shapes, so our abilities vary as well, therefore, we can't exactly remember that many people depending on who we are, but if we were to reach our hypothetical limits, it would be around 150.

Another place Dunbar's number tends to come up is when you are trying to remember characters in books. These tend to take up slots. If I am reading a bunch of books I can really only get to know a small number of characters before others fade into memory. If I try to read too many serialized stories at the same time, I actually would have to go back and reacquaint myself with the story. I'd expect avid readers who have "friends" in books to have fewer friends out in the actual world.
