Another nice video. Many years ago I was so clueless I didn't even how lost and low level I was at Tekken. Nowadays I always find more and more that I need to work on. Currently working on movement and throw breaks.

I made it to Brawler just so I could prefix all my sentences with "As a Brawler..." when playing with my online group. Then I stopped playing ranked. That's why I can't rank up.

This video sums up all my points made in all my arguments over the years by guys I play against, who think they can beat Knee and Ash easily, but can't even beat me. And their excuses are, I practice too much, I cheat by block/whiff punishing, I cheat by using juggle combos, and basically cheat by using any advanced mechanic. And they say "I would beat you, if you just stopped cheating and stopped using this, this and that", naming what is essentially the game's core mechanics. I remember watching my first professional Tekken match, I kept thinking "why are they not attacking each other? They must be afraid of each other, they're weak", then they started using pokes and playing footsies, and I said "why arent they using better attacks? Those arent doing much damage, don't they know juggle combos? They're weak". But now that I understand all of that, I see how ignorantly dumb past me was, but alas not everyone breaks free from that delusion of having a higher percieved skill than one actually possesses. All in all, I'm happy this video exists.

Yup you just reminded me of a few people. I always tell them to use my "cheap" strategy against me then if it's so cheap. They either shut up or say something along the lines of "I won't I have too much pride" One thing I hear a lot of veteran low level Tekken players is that they hate rage arts and power crushes. I'll admit, they do kinda dumb down the game at certain levels of play, but at the top level they're barely used so there's definitely a weakness to them that my level of players and I don't see yet. At least I can admit that and move forward with how to deal with them instead of complaining

Here is my self report on my skill level on escape from tarkov. I suck, I get killed in easily preventable situations. I often miss checking a corner in which someone is waiting for me. Also: K/D 6.5, survivor class neutralizer, 85% of my 600+ kills are headshots (for this wipe alone) survival rate 55% While I think I suck those stats would easily put me in the top 10-25% unfortunately I know that many players less mechanically skilled than me are better at the economic and questing sides of the game so while I may be good at killing and fighting I usually only hover around 1-2mil rubles while my buddy who is arguably not as good at killing has usually around 50-60 mil rubles, because he is much better at picking up valuable items and escaping with them while I usually focus on fighting to take other players gear so I always have something to play with

Yep, I defs need to learn how to have more fun with games or just stop playing them at that matter, I don't think I am amazing but I often only want to be good and put this sense of perfection on myself which is unachievable at the skill level I have, it can really destroy your mentality.

While the message is great, not everyone CAN be great. There is a reason why Rankeds exist. They are supposed to separate skill levels and even if the difference in skill would disappear, there would still be people filling each rank due to losses/wins. Ranks are not a measure of skill, playing League of Legends I have seen Iron players play better than me, a Bronze player. I've seen a gold player outperform a team with a platinum player and so on and so forth. I'd go as far as to say that the level is a higher indicator of skill level than Rank, at least in League of Legends. An account that is recently level 30 with the correct spells and runes most likely belongs to a higher skilled person while a level 100 might still be in silver. What I wanted to say is that rank exists to delimit skill levels but if everyone could and would be great, there would be less discrepancy between the numbers inhabiting each rank and therefore less ranks in place. (In the case of League of Legends) The Dunning Kriegger effect I suppose can take place but I think only delusional people consider themselves better than "..." I believe the reason people end up being hardstuck is simply due to them having met their match. Losing the same amount of games won. Anyways, if you want to improve at a game. Learn the general rules, pick a character and then learn his general rules. Movement, Idle stacking or farming and attacking should be comfortable with said character and then you delve into abilities. Learn the easy stuff before, the harassing, the main combo and the map movement. And play. You'll eventually become good I guess.

I am stuck at Fujin rank in Tekken mostly because it's like a common psychological borderline rank that people generally don't like to fall from so they tend to run away from matches when they are losing. So essentially defeated opponents run away before you get enough points from them and the ones who got the upper hand on you will allways stay for your points. Even players who're fundamentally stronger with bigger prowess level flee as soon as you start winning because their current character isn't a main for example and you know the match up. That's why most of the time as soon as people break through Fujin barrier they're generally can be seen making leaps to god ranks quite quickly. There are many variables beside Dunning/Kruger effect.

I'm fine with mmr in general in 1v1 games as there is nothing other than you to blame for anything, stuff gets really wonky and crap in 5v5 as you on paper only make for 20% of the whole team possible output and definitely in most cases it will feel unfair when you get junk in team a lot that actively wastes everyone's time
@Merumya
@Merumya 2 жыл бұрын
Still, those 20% make the difference over time. 9 out of 10 people in the game should have the same chance of being bad in some way, while you are constant in your performance. Being in a team game is still no excuse for being a low rankeven though someone things to be "actually way better". For a single game, yes. That can happen. But not over an extended period of time.

Eh I’d say this doesn’t happen as much as higher rank people shitting on lower rank people. Mostly when you’re playing something like siege in a casual and a diamond or plat is shit-talking someone for being a gold, not thinking about whether they play the game as an avid twitchy sweat god or just a casual player trying to enjoy some entertainment with friends.
