There is not a single person I work with who has not complained of procrastination. It is one of the most natural human impulses when we encounter the world today, sitting as it does perpetually between fight-or-flight and rest-and-digest.
The main message I want to get across in this video is that your procrastination does not make you a bad person. It is not due to a lack of willpower or something innately undisciplined about your mind. It is the natural tendency to avoid discomfort, applied to the modern day. Once we know this, it becomes much easier to see solutions to it.

I have ADD and keep struggling with this. I feel like I can't concentrate properly and that my mind is "foggy". I also sometimes feel severe anxiety when it feels like my mind is "broken". And I am waiting for a time when my mind is less foggy and I am in a better mindset to focus with no anxiety and such. However, the time I am taking to relax and lessen my anxieties and such doesn't actually make it go away. I can't fully relax knowing that I am supposed to do some tasks before a certain deadline. The anxiety from unfinished tasks and such is always "running on the background" so to speak. Preventing me from actually living in the moment. So it's a cycle of not doing tasks because I am anxious while also getting more anxious because I am not doing tasks.

I have felt this too for long periods. One of the most effective things that helped me was somatic experiencing therapy. There are videos here on YT that can get you started understanding the concept. My favourite is Sukie Baxter's channel. The way it works is that if you find yourself stuck in fight or flight, you can actually do very gentle exercises to reactivate the rest and digest system, thereby calming your overactive nervous system and building resilience to stress and anxiety. It is amazing how quickly it works, and it's NOT like cognitive behavioural therapy which teaches you to 'think your way out of it.' Somatic experiencing is a bottom up approach that acknowledges you need to press a physical 'reset button' before you can find the stability necessary to move into difficult tasks.
