It's pretty refreshing to hear it called out. I've suspected that was the case with the people my age who are home owners, but thought it was just me being bitter

what I really like about your videos is that you do compare yourself to the people around you AND the people around the world a bit when mentioning where you're from and the opportunities you have and such, usually people making these videos are only mentioning the circumstances in the US and it feels unrelatable given that I live in 3rd world and It's way harder to reach the same level people are reaching in other devoloped places, this is definitely not me complaining or calling people lucky, I just hope I make it somehow. Again Love your vids

5:50 this is really funny. Im mid 30s now, i know quiet a few people with homes. In the beginning it was all a bit of a "i did it myself" now after years of knowing them i know they ALL had their parents help. Some even a lot. Thats okay, but man, i wish people didnt lie about "success."

Really well said man. I needed this. It’s too easy to get into the comparison game. I’m also in my low 30s, and would LOVE to be able to afford an Emira. I settled for a $10k project lotus instead - glad you have a good perspective on things!

Best lesson I never learned first hand (but learned nonetheless) is to never loan anyone money, and never borrow money from friends and/or family. If you "loan" someone money, expect to never get it back.

IMO. Materialistic things does not measure someone’s success. Find the value of things that you have achieved in life and how we can build on ourselves while helping others with good intentions. Wish you happiness and good luck.

Haha the "borrowing" story is golden. This obviously doesn't compare to the $50K, but I remember back in High School this one guy used to ask me to borrow $1 to buy a drink after gym class. I figured alright it's just $1, all good. The next few days, it's more "hey can I borrow another $1? I'll pay you back." after the 4th day he asked me, I said "dude you haven't even paid me back the other $3 yet, so no." then he has the nerve to say "oh it's like that? that's how it is? you're hella cheap." The guy who's been begging to "borrow" money calling me cheap. Clearly I still remember this because it's hilarious how people are. When they need something from you until you call them out.

I know the exact type of people you’re talking about in med school. I felt like it was unfair, I came from nothing. I graduated with 350k in student loans. Now they’re paid off, I have a 5000 square foot home and I bought my dream car from when I was a kid, a Dodge Viper. I’m picking up my C8 Z06 next week. We worked hard for it and I think we’ll appreciate it more.

When my kids graduate from high school, I'm going fund whatever they want to pursue on the condition that they take a year off from school to work 60 hours a week at McDonalds and make them follow a strict budget where they save 50% and then have them cover rent, gas, and car insurance on their own to teach them humility.

I’m still quite shocked on loaning a close friend $50K. I’m happy it worked out, but good God, who in their right mind asks a friend for that much money? I’m figuring out that issue on my own if I’m in his shoes, it’s nobody else’s burden.

Kudos to your courage to talk about all this. I think one thing is often neglected is genetic gift of beauty or intelligence. I rarely studied during childhood and use to get close to full marks. During my masters I worked hard, some worked harder than me and were still behind, only one guy was way ahead of me and he used to work less than me. We both make more than 300k per year, he probably makes more than me for sure.

Coming from Mexico to the US with nothing in 2018, well nothing but a job at Intel, I can relate. Starting from scratch is hard. We finally got a House and the down payment was a huge effort. Next week is my 37th birthday and I am so lucky of having a good paying job, maybe not an Emira, but an Evora GT and a M240i, saving and stuff, but it wasn't given, it was hard work.

For a long time I struggled with how to relate to my degree of privilege (certainly not the most, and certainly not the least, I am a MD as well, similar age) but am starting to see that privilege is just privilege - what matters is what you do with it. If you started with a lot of privilege, but serve communities & people effectively with your best effort and intention, then you're cool in my book. It’s especially easy in the car community to get caught up in comparisons since some facets of the community are very show oriented and a lot of the community comes from high SES communities. That said, I’d like to think the majority of people stay low-key and it’s the minority of influencers that garner all our mental attention - you won't notice what you don't see.
@jubbalandcars
@jubbalandcars 6 ай бұрын
Agreed. It’s just about adding value to the world really. The main issue I’m touching on here is people pretending they aren’t or misleading others or being incomprehensibly disconnected. My children will be privileged but I hope to avoid any of those issues with their upbringing. I don’t think it’s only influencers with notable cars. Regular folk may not have the flashiest of cars but many still have high trim Cayman, low to mid trim 911s and so on. In fact I’ve noticed from car meets that the overwhelming majority of people who are 20s to early 30s with notable cars come from privilege. And nothing wrong with that, so long as they act with integrity and authenticity and not judge those with “lesser” cars who didn’t have the same privilege

Crohns for 15 years...been through hell over the past coupl3 flare ups..and life has been good and bad. I felt like it was gonna be a constant uohil battle. Its been bad but after.my last flare up and medical leave, i worked hard after coming back to work and was able tonget the promotion and doubled my income and now im in the market for this thing. Thats not whatnits al about butnit feels good to know i disnt comprise and just exist and be happy to have insurance. Im happen without the money but faliure happens and when we are up we are just fine to celebrate it and live at that level. Just know it might not be forever, and then we have memories to drive us back to the top again.

😁 It's several factors, genetics (intelligence, attractiveness, healthy), utilizing opportunities, environment, social interactions (both positive and negative experiences can cause drive/motivation), family upbringing, social connections, competitive stimulation, economic mobility, and probably several more variables that can cause a drive in a person to be successful.

If you can afford to loan someone 50K and don’t think that’s extraordinary then you might be a bit out of touch. Something like 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and I can promise you it’s not because they don’t work hard
