The fact that this Ted talk doesn't get many views is another example of how people don't care about inequality.

0:48 "some people even devote entire TED talks to the topic" and nobody is laughing - this audience doesn't have a sense of humor!

Money, wealth, global banking and power, and inequality are constructs not explained to general citizenry and are seldom taught in schools. These are not secrets, but most people are clueless as to what is really going on.

I think another reason of why people don't care about inequality is that there is plenty of ways for people to distract their mind from the realities of the world: Video games, movies, social media, etc.

Since the 80's everything has changed... In short: the neoliberal policies. A swap from industrial capitalism to a capitalist economy of financial speculation.

Just to be clear when he says equality that doesn't necessarily mean our goal should be like Communist China or North Korea correct? Can someone please clarify this for me?

what's a nonsense...why you have low rate of public interest in the topic? if this is a puzzle for academic like this one, then it's scary to think what kind academia is there ... public interest is low cause public opinion is shaped by media , media is monopolized by corporations that's it man you don't need studies for this ...
