Really enjoy your channel Roger! No nonsense. Going out for my first round of the season tomorrow after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last fall. I was a 2 hdcp when I had to quit, so this will be a sobering experience, I’m sure. I’ve always used a mirror in front and down the line; only way to go. You’ve helped me brush up on some fundamentals and focus on some important things like proper grip and body position. I’ve waited so long due to weakness but working on 5x5 weight routine has helped me get some muscle back for more speed. I don’t know why, but you’ve inspired me to get back out there. I’m sure you’ll do the same for others. Keep up the good work! Thanks

Hi Roger, enjoying your perspective and teaching various ways to swing the club. Do you have any thoughs on single plane swing (Moe Norman)? I don't think I've seen you discuss it yet in your videos.
@rkswingkingАй бұрын
I actually spent time with moe.. I could never do what he did... He worked with Manuel de la Torre late in life and said nobody could make him better except him.. So that was high enough praise.. So if you can swing single plane go for it

Great video. I just had a thought, as dangerous as that might be. As the golf swing is a free flowing circle, like a ball on a string, why is it that almost all instructors kind of emphasize feeling like one arm or hand is dominant when you hold the club in both hands? Most instructors say your right hand is dominant while others will say its the left or lead side and that's why you wear a glove on your left hand. But I think only Manuel de la Torre is the only one I can think of that specifically said its both hands and arms swinging thru equally. I get it that your right hand is below your left on the grip so that naturally your right arm and wrist have to bend a lot more than your left in the back swing. But it seems to me that you should be able to swing the club well with a feeling of both arms and hands swinging it without one really dominating your focus? I've always had the thought when I see an instructor emphasizing the right hand only practice swings that your right arm, wrist, even shoulder and pelvis cannot really move that way when you have 2 hands on the club. Even Shawn Clement says that when you put 2 hands on the club your center becomes your sternum center point BUT then he emphasizes most golfers are trail hand dominant because most golfers are right handed, but some golfers like Mickelson and Spieth do swing lead side dominant but because Mickelson is right handed swinging left handed and lead side dominant and I believe Spieth is actually left handed swinging right handed stance with his lead hand dominating. It just seems weird to me that no instructors say you can swing well with both arms equally. I'm not talking tour level but just smooth enjoyable amateur level golf.

That is wonderful insight that I agree with .. and my personal feeling of the weight on the string is both hands react to a swinging weight equally.. I have to teach one hand dominant over another sometimes when people have particular movement patters engrained and the way the brain is wired also matters , meaning right or left brain . Does the player feel things or analytical . A baseball pitcher right hand has wonderful under arm throwing myelin built in . To say swing the club it wouldnt register .... hope this gives a little insight

There is a great training club called a Whippy TempoMaster. With a super flexible shaft, the club can be used to hit balls. Any conscious effort to push or pull the shaft will send the ball on various flight paths other than straight.Youmust use/allow the centrifugal force of the club movement to hit the ball well.

Yes I use the orange whip wedge and I assume does the same thing .. really enjoy it

So the clubhead swings in a semi circle while we swing the entire club in a circle around our body? Is that the lightbulb moment I’m getting here?
@rkswingking5 ай бұрын
yes the club head swings and the body responds

I come up out of the ball a lot by picking up my torso
@rkswingking5 ай бұрын
That's a weight is on your left foot problem at the top of the swing so the body has to stand up to go back to the right foot Or the club is also behind you to far which will also cause a reverse pivot
@DMthree9895 ай бұрын
@@rkswingking reading you say that I know instantly it’s the weight problem, I’ve always been quick to artificially “start” the swing with lower body (an idea you have disabused me of) and way too early.

I swing just fine in mirror put a ball into the mix and it changes

I would suggest the weight on a string feel then ... for those where mirror doesn't work . You are a feel player and mechanical cues won't work .. watch my ernest jones orange whip video ... good luck
