As someone who is slow at progress. You cant expect to get better at anything if you cant enjoy it. I used to be a try hard when I started drawing heroes and all as a kid. Only if I relax and realize that making a mistake on the paper wont kill me did I feel like I was the one holding my pencil and not my anxiety. Im 17 and due to studies am inconsistent in filling up my sketchbook, but when I do, I want to focus more on enjoying it than being perfect. Enjoy the process and gradually progress will occur.

I love that people always say Van Gogh started art later in life but he was in his 20s. Me, I did start later in life. Months before my 40th birthday. In my 8 years of drawing I have advanced to a level I never thought I’d reach. I do realistic portraits and comics. KZbin has been a huge help since I’ve had no formal training, . Anyone can learn to draw if I did.
@Kokopilau772 жыл бұрын
Congrats on that! I started drawing at 44. Nowhere near “good”, but I can see that I’ve improved in the past year when looking at my earlier sketches. It’s awesome when you can see it.

@@mansimalik8826 I just searched on KZbin for it. This channel has helped, as well as Jabba and Cherry Deluxe. I’m more going for the cartoon styles. There’s also the quick line sketch, where it’s as it says - a quick & rough sketch to get the general shape. I’ve used other channels that I cannot remember ATM, but there’s a ton here.

Hey just found you and just wanted to stop in and say thanks for the encouragement, i like you have been drawing since childhood and even took lots of art classes through the years but somewhere along the way things changed and i gave up my dream of being a graphic artist professionally, BUT now i'm sort of a stay at home mom, not that i have the free time but i'm trying to make it so i can get back to it, and hearing you say all of these things is like a warm hug and reminder that even though i'm almost 40 i still have time to learn a new skill like using porcreate and get better at my skill :) thanks! cant wait to check out your other videos :)

As a procrastinator, I've been very hesitant to learn how to draw since everytime I try, I'm not consistent. But I've been looking at your drawing camp for awhile now and if I can be consistent in writing or playing video games then I can be consistent in drawing as well, I admire all of these tips when it comes to drawing. I like how you always tell us to put effort into drawing and you'll get what you want, vs other artists who would just tell us that if you do this one thing, one time and never commit then you could automactically learn how to draw. Sometime this month, I will purchase your drawing camp, since not only it's the best priced drawing program that I've seen but it's the best quality at a fast pace and it's easy to fallow through with it. If Deepali and you can draw then so can I!

My parents scoffed at my desire to be an artist when I was young and told me I needed to get a good sound office job. So i did. It stopped every creative bone I had. I thought as I didn't have "talent" they were probably right. Over the years i dabbled ind a few sketches and graphic design under the impression you cant make a living from that. Only now at 55 years old am I realising that I should have been an artist. Your videos, particularly this one have really helped me immensely. Thankyou Kesh.
@KeshArt Жыл бұрын
So happy for you that you are starting out now. And so glad you are finding these helpful. Your story will inspire many to take on this journey. I might also argue that you've been doing "art" all this while as well. The experience you've gained so far is HARD MATERIAL for the art you are about to do now. All you need to focus on is the technique, which is fairly easy to gain. So excited for you!! Keep going and don't stop :)
@alphabetsandmore8000Ай бұрын
the same thing happened with my parents, p.s. they were musicians. At 55 you still have a life time ahead of you. Be open to all the art lessons and mentors available and don't be afraid to reach out and try something you are not sure of, take a chance. "The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today." Go forth and create.......You can still the mundane work as a financial hobby until you get settled in your art. My next life I will do differently!

"No amount of natural ability can compete with diligent practice" -Jeff Goin. I draw traditional way, but wanted to learn digital art. I started to practice 6 months ago. I followed Kesh advise, practice EVERYDAY, even for few minutes. Looking back on my first digital art 6 months ago, I couldn't believe my improvement in just short time. Yes there is a so called 'innate talent", but it'll be useless without consistent practice. Remember, Kesh wasn't born an artist, he mold himself as an artist, he practice.

That’s a very good piece of advise many people don’t know ‘learning requires rest’.. often people get frustrated why they can’t do it while they don’t give enough time to their brain to process it and their frustration lead them to quit it. Where as the simple process is learn.. rest…try and repeat this like you are enjoying it don’t let it become a burden for you.

It starts with having an open mind for whatever it is we learn, so many people slow down their process of progression with saying “I can’t do this” when if you have to say that at least add yet at the end. Or I am currently improving my skills. Start with a ready to grow mindset and any learning journey is just a little bit easier, I fully agree with this.

You don’t need talent to be a great artist but it’s definitely helps. Person with talent would be similar to a character in an rpg game with a 10-25% exp boost. They both can get a similar end result if they put in the work but the one with talent will just have an easier time getting there

There are people born with artistic talents, I myself believes I'm one of those people. Growing up, I observed people around me having a hard time drawing something I found so simple. However, I don't think one needs to be born with talent in order to become an artist. Talent exist in every field of arts and sciences. Take boxing as an example, there are exceptional fighters among other fighter, those who were born with talent, but this doesn't stop others from becoming a boxer. What we need is diligence in order to develop a skill.

Nowhere near on the level of Kesh, but confident enough to draw something on my whiteboard for my students. They actually look forward to it, and I have a few teachers coming in to see why I’ve drawn. I’m 45. If you’re new to it or afraid of starting, just take that step. Your other foot will follow, and before you know it, you’re drawing well.
