It’s true. Over-lining on the outer lip line on the sides actually has the opposite effect making lips look stretched out and thinner and give the appearance of a clownish smile. As where only over lining in the center gives a much poutier look. It just goes to show how less really is more sometimes. Totally calmed my game when I started lining my lips correctly💯💋💄

This is actually the tip for a 1920s style lips as well. The trick was to press the colour with the thumb to create a heart shape at the center, then connect the lines, exactly as you demonstrate. This is a really good tip.

I finally got my answer!! I only wear gloss because whenever I try lipstick the outer corners of my lips looks awful and it doesn’t help that I have really thin lips to begin with. I’m going to try this!

The trick is to not overline the corners of your lips. Keep the corners natural, then overline the center bottom and the bow on upper lip. Then just connect them. If you overline near the corners, it makes your mouth look too wide and clownish.

omggg the way you line your bottom lip is exactly the way i do it too! i've never seen anyone else do it that way. i also have to use some of concealer on my outer lipline because i have some pigmentation there and it just looks really messy if i don't.

Thank you so much! A method that finally works on me!💖💖💖 I have a double lip line that makes my lips look uneven, or that something has happened to make it prominent (operation, stroke etc). Trying to get a decent, symmetrical line when wearing liquid lipstick, is incredibly difficult, and that's after trying so very many tutorials. It's not so bad if I'm wearing solid lipstick in satin, shimmer, or gloss. Matte lipstick exaggerates my line.

I learned this technique while playing around with bright colored lipsticks years ago. It can be tricky especially for people who are just starting out playing with make-up because the lip shape looks very different before and after. Omg thank you! Also if you have a cut on your lip NEVER apply over. It will clog up inside the cut making your lips less smooth. This is easier with a lip pencil but try to apply close by or around the cut and get close enough to the edge. Then when done, gently fold your lips together as you would after applying.
