It all makes sense. Ethan Becker never went after Toniko because they are actually the same person.

Damn, you're telling me I'm supposed to get my confidence from endeavors outside of work? R-relationships? Now, what if I don't have any. That will surely put a wrench in my idea to use work as a distraction from my personal issues.
@o0Sazie0o3 жыл бұрын
I don't have a relationship either, I also use work as a distraction and honestly I feel better focusing on work instead of life more. Although not everyone feels this way, I just prefer focusing on art and when I don't. I feel terrible. It is hard to explain in detail.
@rowanvezeau57293 жыл бұрын
For me, ego was the whole reason I improved in animation. Obviously I still have a lot to learn and improve on, but if I hadn't been overly confident in my wobbly art when I started out I never would've gotten better!

Nice video! A lot of people in general who have low self esteem can be just has hard to interact with as the people who are full of themselves. It's awkward. You gotta have respect for yourself before you can expect people to have respect for you.
@ordinarypen83693 жыл бұрын
I'm suprised someone in the art or animation community looks at ego as a positive at all. Normally you are expected to be a starving artists that should feel bad for earning money or improving yourself in anyway because "selfish bad". To clarify, no I don't think having an ego is a bad thing. Ego just means "self" in latin. (At least from what I remember. I'd have to double check Lmao) But rational egoism is a very good thing. You develop an ego for self esteem and you are rational to make sure you are making good decisions WHILE developing your self esteem.

Hey this helped a lot. I've had a lot of trouble and sadness around not feeling good enough to impress the people I admire, and it gave me an ego of porcelain where I've been frightened to apply to any entry level work or even show my work to people I don't know. I've recently sought therapy and gotten a lot of love and support from my friends

You gotta spruce the life that may be ordain to then change a perspective that you have defaultly lived in, if you switch them, you can make that experience wholesome
@SMBeech3 жыл бұрын
@@Yipper64 I think a proactive approach would be best. Waiting around probably isn't going to help you find anything. I'd suggest trying something you've absolutely never done before and you know nothing about. Maybe take up an instrument, or learn a language, if you have the funds and it's safe to do so pick a random country where nobody speaks your language and just go and see what happens. Maybe join a small sports team, or take up a hobby completely unrelated to your other Hobbies. Some of these things may not appeal to you at all, but you still gain something from trying them anyway.

@@SMBeech Now that I think about it I have done some of those things, but they didnt involve interacting with other people, so I guess I didnt get any real stories. @dorklymorkly32903 жыл бұрын
It's not as simple like that, but I do think that as one ages one loses the will to be proud and become 'the best there is', especially in contemporary times where the mindset fostered by the media, politics and co is anything but a meritocracy. But a massive ego is not required to be the best, but still wanting to be better than anyone else is the key yeah.
@pennylavendar63623 жыл бұрын
People in general become more humble over time as they realize how much is really involved in any kind of art making. But the person being roleplayed near the beginning of this video actually exists. Some people became very bitter and hateful as they age.
