I just had to say goodbye tonight to my beautiful Harlequin girl called Skylar, she was 11. My heart is absolutely broken but she had such a lovely life with us and her best friend, another Harlequin girl a couple years her junior. Words can't express how much we'll miss her. Give them every ounce of love you can every single day.

I have my 3rd Dane. Everyone said it's too much for me. Like you said ...he is at my side. He is a support dog for me and he does his job perfectly. His name is Radar Blip, aka Ray. He is a blue meril with a black spot on his head. Oh by the way..I'm 76 years old.

Awesome!!!! We have a 4 year old (in July). And just got two puppies!!! Best breed ever!! I am 75 and my husband is 74. We have only had Danes sine I was 45. They are so smart and willing to learn!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Roxy is beautiful and you have described the breed well!

This video is a wonderful testament to how amazing Great Danes are !!! We have had 7 Great Danes throughout our lives. Molly is our current Great Dane and Molly totally enriches our lives. One sentiment I would like to leave. Lots of people speak of their shorter lives than other breeds. It’s better to have loved a Dane in one’s life, than not to have ❤❤

Couldn't agree more with everything in this video. My friend has a very large Great Dane who comes to stay with me from time to time when he has to go away for work. I've known her since she was about 9 months old and I grew up with large dogs (2 rottweilers and a tibetan mastiff), but I wasn't sure how well I'd cope looking after one myself. I've had Delilah come stay a couple of times now and those two weeks were just incredibly happy. I thought getting up an hour early to take her out for a morning walk would be a bit of a nuisance but it really wasn't. "Velcro dog" is a good description - they'll try to follow every time you go answer a call of nature, they'll try to drink the bath water or come padding up the stairs to make sure you're getting out of bed when the alarm goes off. The only other thing I would add to the list is that you've got to reckon on taking about twice as long to walk anywhere if there are other people around. The amount of attention they get is really something.

I now have my 7th GD (4th rescue). Duke is a 172 lb European and resembles Roxy. Is she a European as well? I tell people, "once you've been owned by a Great Dane, no other dog will do!"

I just got my first one 2 days ago. Tula is the light of my K-9 life. We also have an AmStaff, a "labradane", and a Dogo Argentino. It's surreal seeing my Dane puppy who's 8 weeks old, being smaller than the others knowing full well that in a matter of months she will be the largest. Danes are the best!!!

I have always wanted a great dane, they are so smart, loyal and friendly/goofy. Great Dane=German Mastiff. Cane Corso=Italian Mastiff. There are over 14 different Mastiff breeds. Ancestor to the Mastiff=Molossus.

Unfortunately, they die very early. My first one was hit by a drunk car driver with the age of 2 years. Number 2 made it 11 years and the third one I lost with 9.5 years.

We have an opportunity to get a 3-year old purebred European Great Dane. The owner is looking to rehouse him since she has three small children. We currently have no children (I am 60 and my wife is 70) and no additional pets. Would he do well with us? Best

Do you have opportunity to spend time with the Great Dane before deciding? Are you familiar with large dogs or have had large dogs before? Because he will be taller and 20-50lbs heavier than Roxy and if you haven’t seen a grown male Great Dane in person before it’s hard to grasp how large they are. Do you know the owner or how well they are at training? I don’t want to discourage you but I know I would not want to adopt that large of a dog at that age without getting to see first hand some of his temperament and how well behaved he is, or what kind of concerning habits he might have.

My opinion- I'm 75. I have had or have 10 Danes in my lifetime. 2 were rescues. One was from the shelter that was kind of a bully to my other Danes and to small children and babies. So we just limited access. All of them have been wonderful family members. For sure meet him. However I would say a Dane for an older adult is a warm addition to life at that age!

Great Danes are precious. The hardest part is they fill our hearts, and nature then breaks them with such cruely short lifespans. I adore my Danes, but saying good-bye is so terribly hard, and boy does your heartache when they must crossover the rainbow bridge. Still, Great Danes are such wonderful blessings in our lives.🕊️♥️ May Roxy and your family be blessings to each other. She is adorable.❤

I think the Dane is the perfect dog for other people, and I love to interact with friend's dogs, but a giant breed just doesn't fit my life at this time. My medium-size dog (Norwegian Elkhound) fills up the back seat of the Crosstrek on road trips and he's the perfect heating pad on cold nights. Of course, when I was recovering from a hip fracture, the elkhound I had at that time appointed herself as my heating pad, hottest July in state history.

Yes, they are watchful and when someone comes they give off a great bark. But what I like most about them after that bark and you're alerted they come right back to you and let you make the important decisions😂 not saying they hide behind you, just saying they are smart.

I rescued a dinky Dane. she is half Labrador and a half. Great Dane. So, she only weighs 55 pounds but looks like a great Dane and acts like a great Dane. Pure Velcro dog with an easy to take care of coat. She is convinced me to get a full size Dane in the future when she passes.

The harness that I have had the most success with I bought at Pet Smart and i unfortunately don’t recall the name. I think it’s nice when a harness has an attachment for the leash on top and underneath, as well as a handle that you could potentially grab.

Medically speaking get them stapled. I lost my last one due to bloat. It is very painful for everyone. We were always very cautious about it, but it can happen. I miss you Gussy!

A Dane wouldn't survive well in the wild due to their nature and that they have no undercoat to keep them warm in lower temperatures.They are big babies with a similar coat to a Chihuahua.
