Testing with a multimeter saved all my builds I ever made. Because sometimes there is a short you cant see on your soldering work. Now I test as I build, after I wire up cam, vtx or rx power wires I always continuity test them before I move on.

I have a weird thing happening with a build when I hook up a smoke stopper. The esc won't boot up, it sounds like there's a loose wire and motors won't spin up in betaflight. I tested with a multimeter but can't find any shorts. So I hooked up the batt without the smoke stopper and it all worked fine. I hooked the smoke stopper to a couple other kwads and everything worked ok. It's just this one particular kwad that I get this weird result. Am a bit wary about going ahead and flying it until I figure out this weird thing. Any thoughts on this anybody???

Have u tried flying it? I would just try it. It would if fried already if it was shorted

Is it a good idea to use an xt60 anti spark plug. Haven't seen any used on the builds I have watched. Thank for video, cheers David.

Not really on the lower voltages, higher voltages yes.

I know you can use that continuity feature to test motors and grounds, but are you able to use it the same way to test power / 5v pads or video in/out?

Jon Oetting not when there is a regulator involved but you can measure voltage

This guy rocks !!! Great video , it will help when I receive the tools and the multimeter you sent .

But if you have capacitor it will show you voltage or it will beep
@ViperFPV5 жыл бұрын
Makaron Fpv it won’t beep with a capacitor because it’s not a short circuit there is electrolyte type of stuff between the 2 leads going into the cap.

To clarify checking for short circuits using voltage or continuity works fine when your quad is using a cap. The quad in this video is using a. Cap

I would strongly suggest that you always have props off on the bench. A short may cost you some $$$ but the props can cost you much more....

It’s already been setup and flown I trust the motors won’t spin. But yes when I first build one the props are off until it’s outside.

Before plugging in a battery just check every single voltage level for shorts. Never had anything smoke up.

Get a multi meter! You can use it on everything....home, automotive.......smoke stopper?......only XT60.
