The metal plate in the box is a rack mount plate that joins 2 receivers together. Screw the plate in to the bottom of each receiver and you can rack it in a standard 19" rack. I have 6 wireless voice receivers in a rack powered by a single Cioks DC7.

I got COVID about a month ago and it had me really down I felt dirty cause of it. I was afraid people would treat me differently if they found out I had it. That was not the case but in my world you don’t talk about shit like this. It’s channels like this that you can express yourself and not be judged.

That thick metal plate is to join 2 receivers together from the bottom so you can mount them in the rack with the mounting brackets

Took me a second, and a quick reread of the Sennheizer product page. You mean mount them side to side, to let them fit into a full 19" rack mount, instead of their normal half rack setup. EDIT: Oddly, he sort of talks about it, but mostly on it also coming with a blanking plate when you're running just one in a full rack.

Wunderbar review! Good to see that crowd-size (4 running children) has no effect on signal. I feel as though a mono-wheel-with-portable-rig (to play rolling, live shows) should be in your future. Break one of these out in a stau on the autobahn and ride up and down until it clears. Also...is your entire home a recording studio?!

You have to use the sync-button to transmit settings to the transmitter if you're not using the app. Manual frequency-setting is a must in an environment with many users. In such a setting the person licenced and responsible for wireless gear will allocate a fixed frequency for each user, if you're allowed to use your own at all. In many countries a licence is required to operate wireless gear outside the WiFi frequence-bands (2.4 and 5GHz). The drone probably operates in WiFi ranges which cause a conflict with cheap wireless systems which almost exclusively operate at 2.4 or 5 GHz. This one seeems to operate within the K27-range (+/-520MHz) and will not conflict with the drone.

Sunlight when using the app outside 🧐 I'd guess that you'll probably use this indoor most of the time. And on rather dark lighting conditions 😉

Maybe someone already answered this, but that little metal plate is designed when you have two receiver units and you mount them in a rack side-by-side you use that metal plate to help mount the two receivers today together and they hold the two receivers together with a little lip on the edge of that metal plate and then you can put them side-by-side and mount them in a rack.

Great review (as always), Henning! I got the Sennheiser EW IEM G4 last year and it's great and *never* cuts out. The only thing I was disappointed with was the noise floor (when not playing and everything is supposedly silent). There was a lot more background noise than I expected there to be. Of course, that doesn't come through when playing and I've gotten used to it, but I was still a bit disappointed and am thinking I may have made some mistake myself in setting things up despite using balanced cables from the signal source and everything. Your EW-D test here with the mics sounded super clean in contrast. Again, thanks for a great review!

Fine review, but it lacks a cable vs wireless comparative. This EW-D do not have any cable emulation and we know the sound should change a lot due to the capacitive effect of mid/long cables, and not only...

Does the kit contain the 2 BNC cables needed to mount the antennas to the rack panel?

No, it doesn't. You need to buy BNC cables for rack mounting (both antennas from the front of the rack) seperately. Inside this kit you will get just rack mounting ears usable for one or two Sennheiser EW-D receveir units.

Using two wireless transmitters right next to each other on your pants like that will have an effect on each other. You'd be better off spacing them as far a part as you can. Maybe one on your left side and one on the right. You'd definitely get better results

I’m a bit torn with the batteries. On the one hand it’s handy that you can get batteries at any gas station for it, but on the other hand exchangeable rechargeable batteries like for example shure has in it’s products is the more ecological way to go...

AA's you get about 8 hours. The rechargeable pack you get about 12 hours, they say. Either way, you have to replace batteries. I got two of these, with different config and I love them

I couldn’t get two EW-D receivers and 2 lav mics working at my last wedding. I kept getting “clipping.” Any thoughts from anyone? Frustrated because my buddies 2 entry level Sure lav mics works flawlessly together and they’re not even true diversity antennae.

Since we all are more and more exposed to microwaves at nowadays fully cranked up levels, I want you to remind, that one of the more harmless effects are small strokes in the ears, which is one of the causes for tinitus. So I only can recoment all musicians to reduce your exposition to all kinds of WIRELESS devices in your studios and your homes to zero if it is possible. Sometimes I wish every musician (and actually every human being) would dig into that topic with at least 1% enthusiasm as they do with their gear.
