I prefer that model as it's more like both players are agreeing to a certain amount of play time. Instead of just getting 1-and-done'd every other game and wasting time searching for games.

GGST letting you choose who to play against (or more likely, allowing you to dodge players/characters you don't want to play...) is the single worst aspect about its matchmaking, man. If you play Sol or Axl, people WILL dodge you. If you have a high level on your character or that aura effect, people WILL also dodge you. It's a terrible idea to show those things for their "ranked" mode. Having it in the parks is fine since you're usually there for just match up experience. One more "casual friendly matchmaking" option I'd love to see in some fighting games is a "get a different character each round" mode, that'd be dope. Like Mystery Heroes in Overwatch.

You are wrong about casual mm in fighting games, not everyone want to be the best player but simply want to have fun. Thats why having a casual mode is needed, to make sure players who simply want fun don't face players who want to sweat their ass off to get rank point or only care about being better and better.

The only thing that I hate about ranked and casuals in almost every fighting game right now is that everybody seems to forget that Africa is a continent and we can actually play their goddamn games. Rollback is fun and all but when you sit at the bottom tip of Africa the only you're gonna get games are through discord with vets that've been playing since +R and are somehow celestial rank while each game you find is 250ms... I really sucks man. I'm not trying to get washed by top 8 placing dudes in their local tourneys, I just want to have fun with someone on my level, there are some people that are but hardly ever online or just are when I'm not.

Infinite rematches should NOT be in Ranked. Being able to farm one opponent, who you keep beating but won't give up, for points destroys any relation between rank and skill level. This also negatively impacts matchmaking. Keep ranked sets to tourney-like FT2 or FT3, and do NOT let players see the opponent's character. That way you can duck certain matchups and endlessly farm worse opponents or favorable matchups. It's the only way Ranked and matchmaking will work properly, along with a large playerbase (which requires the game to appeal to a varied audience, not a narrow niche) and rollback netcode.

I know theres always a sub culture of "reverse boosting" in certian shooters but i wonder if its prevealent in fighting games. Reverse boosting in a shooter is either killing yourself over and over, dying and doing bad on purpose, and completing challenges with other players during a match. Most of the time this is done so players are put in lobbies with players that are worse than they are. I don't know if I'm guilty of "soft reverse boosting " becuase i always mix up how i play in any game. I wouldn't call myself trash but i don't follow meta on purpose to mix up my play style. I'm smart enough to know i can study match ups and such but i choose not to. If that makes sense.

I've seen some deranking before but mostly I think people will just make a smurf account or in Tekken they will delete their save files to reset their rank. I used to hit derankers ALL the time in CSGO but haven't seen anyone doing it in Fighting games at least in my experience

I have no idea what Tekken is loading so much. It has so few assets that you could literally load all of them during the game boot up and just toggle between them. But instead it even needs to reload the same fucking map and two characters every time. They're already loaded, wtf.

Ranked really does bring this unknown drive out of people. I'm often relaxed in my matches & usually play with zero brain (cuz forget my ranking lol), but the sets where the other dude's battling his heart out for absolutely no reason forces me to reciprocate their energy, so now I gotta sit up & do calculations and whatnot just to have "fun". I don't really agree with this video First of all, I understand why limiting the amount of rematch is necessary, it's so you don't grind ranks by fighting the same guy over and over Speaking of ranks, I don't understand the idea that rank =/= skill, it's not absolute, but let's not pretend it's not a great indicator of your skill level, if you lose points, it means you play badly and need to improve or get back on tracks Nothing to say about casual, I agree with that, it's fine to play with friends or just testing new chars without dropping ranks

Really? I remember when I was a scrub in fighting games and a friend kept wiping his digital butt with my digital mug in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. But after only few weeks I could manage to land equal chances to win the fights, which kinda surprised him. So keeping the scrubs out of your reach is just modern luxury and not helping the scrubs at all.

Yo I respect youropinion in this video and like your content. However, casual match is not useless or pointless. Its so you can learn MU without people leaving because they can't rank up off you. Its also just to play without people clinging to comeback mechanics too hard example. Tekken 7 rage art every single round. Its to refine and practice what you know in a live match. Then when you want to, you go on ranked and get sweaty. It definitely has a purpose and is not useless.
