“Oh you’re bleeding out? ... Just pray harder 🙏 ...”. I love that parallel that reveals how we treat mental health versus physical health.
@originalcontent2103 жыл бұрын
It’s a weak parallel in my opinion, I mean think about it.. people don’t tell people who are bleeding out to pray more because the problem is easily diagnosed (by the serious trauma and all the blood!) and therefore the solution to address the wound and stop the bleeding is the obvious solution, not to mention people are likely to be praying during this whole bleeding out situation, especially the person bleeding out (I know I would be lol) and who is to say that is not what saves their life?
@paigebrown87433 жыл бұрын
@@originalcontent210 It seems there’s been a misunderstanding. You actually explained why it’s a great parallel. No one would ever tell someone who is experiencing physical trauma to “pray it away”. That’s the point, that the parallel reveals. “Pray it away” is insufficient for physical health, just as it is with mental health. Any reasonable person would recommend immediate and necessary medical attention. Some people say “pray it away” about mental trauma and mental health, instead of recommending immediate and necessary medical attention. I hope that cleared things up

Gonna toss this out there. Any ideas on staying grounded and not getting carried away with inner locutions? Like avoiding fake ones and recognizing real ones? 😅 or if they’re real at all? 😐 like for example a few moments ago, I was praying a penitential rosary and i think I felt Mary’s voice say I’d see her in a few moments. Right after, my mom and I facetimed and she’s been really nervous about confession and mass bc of the virus but she just told me she had made plans to go to confession. On the first Saturday of the month. (Possibility for starting 5 Saturday devotion) And I’d been praying for a number of things including that she’d go. We’d discussed it but she’d always pushed back. Another time, I was taking the trash out at work and began wondering what my guardian angel’s name was and asked. Anyway, I remembered we’re not supposed to find out and they don’t reveal their names so easily and suddenly “Samson” clear as day popped in my head and I was like “what kind of a name is that? What an ugly nameofufjdnd well I guess it’s a nice name. God willed the name even though I know that’s not your name.” Forgot about it till later that night when I prayed to be shown a Bible verse I was to read and opened my Bible up. First thing I landed on was the story of Samson and Delilah which basically described and gave a clarity to the then current situation. Any tips though on staying grounded and avoiding psychosis? 💀😐

This makes me so happy! I’m a neurology nurse who strongly believes in holistic healing, including making the patient’s religious beliefs a part of the overall healing process. It saddens me when I find my patients’ religious beliefs being shoved to the side so often in their counseling and therapy work, especially my Catholic patients because I personally share their pain. This video is awesome. One thing I’ve always loved about Ascension is their ability to discuss topics we so often avoid. As someone who just started seeing a counselor after years of wrestling with the idea, I can only affirm how God works through those anointed to heal. When Maria said “self-sufficiency can ruin you”, I gasped. The raw truth of this statement is applaudable. We are not meant to figure life out on our own- God knew this from the very beginning when he said, “It is not good that the man should be alone” (Genesis 2:18). Thus, he created man *and* woman for each other! We see the effectiveness of a loving community everywhere- especially in our diocese, families and classrooms. We function best as a united body with Christ as the Head. Ascension, thank you for this safe space to grow closer to God and his Church. Maria, thank you for these authentic words of wisdom! Praying for our universal family in Christ with mental health struggles, and for the loving professionals with hearts ready to serve them. May we continue following the Lord towards healing, salvation and love- for this is the Gospel! 🙌🏽🙏🏽🕊📖💙

Make sure how your state & district use school psychs if you plan on doing grade school or high school level. A good percent of school psychs I know at those levels primarily do testing for IEP qualification/re-evals where mental health issues tend to go to either counselors or school social workers.

Ive been a victim of almost every abuse you can name.. and the direction from the therapists was absolutely demonic. Hi Mari Pablo - I don't know if you read the comments. You inspired me! Love how you're so uplifting! I'm catholic and I see a counselor. Sometimes I don't go because of the cost. I try to see her every other week. I'm learning how to deal with depression and anxiety better. I tell myself it mental maintenance. What I find the hardest is being consistent with applying myself every day. But just like a practicing Catholic we have to do the same with our body and mind. Thank you kindly for making this video. I hope you do more of them. Have yourself a wonderful day 🙏😘💕

Working in a busy state hospital in a new country, is taking a toll in me to the point that I am unable to catch a proper sleep at night. I'm tired, I'm sore and I feel all anxiety and pressure when working. I'm thinking of seeking help professionally, a faith based therapist I agree.

THANK YOU! This is something I have REALLY been having an issue with in my family...and the "giving it up to God" mentality my family was taught....is NOT constructive! Like, waiting for God to fix things :(

Are you counseling online? I'm in The Netherlands.. I speak English, so it's hard for me to find help. It's ok if not, but I thought I would ask. God Bless You.

Hi! I’ve been struggling to find peace. I recently started attending college, I don’t feel good about it, and for one reason I don’t feel I can me be myself, it’s painful. I hope to find a counselor and to find peace on Jesus.
