I have never been more excited to start a new season as an Aston Villa fan in my life. We are playing some unreal football. Good squad depth too now. Unai Emery is a master.

Our biggest trouble is picking the best 11! There are so many players that look in form. Truth be told us fans have no idea what team will start against Newcastle? We still have Ramsey to come back and Unai loves him so can’t see him not starting most games.

On McGinn (pre Emery), I've said it many times, but he has not been that great since the promotion season. He had a good spell when we first got promoted and in Gerrard's first 6 games, but other than that - it was largely average at best with the odd spell here and there. Obviously Gerrard's system was shite and was asked to play deep, but he was also playing deep for Smith too, in a double pivot, and wasn't great for DS as well - my biggest criticism of Smith's time at AV was using him there and for so long too, especially when Barkley was pants and our wingers besides Jack were incredibly inconsistent. Since Unai has come in, he has just gone on to another level. And looks like he is ready to move to another too. Love to see it. "We've got Championship John McGinn back" - fellas looking like Champions League John McGinn Edit: Agree about Konsa the season before - was poor and did little in build up. Much better last season and looking good in pre season.

I’d say during smiths time we were building and McGinn was used to deep because of lack of options. The players have come of age and emerged from the jack era of reliance and have proven their quality a testimony to Smith. I don’t believe Unai could produce what we are seeing with just any group of players, nor is he stupid enough to come here if he thought the squad was low quality, he turned down Newcastle and I’d take our players over theirs any day on the whole too, exciting times for Villa.

1-2 years ago they were a very young side thrown together in the worlds toughest league, unai is fantastic, would be interesting to have seen what he’d of done with newly promoted villa.

I am confident that we will have another productive season. If we don’t win anything, I do feel we will be challenging and in the mix. That in itself is a big step forward. I look forward to watching us play every week and compared to where we were, on the brink of administration under Dr Tony, to now is massive! I would hope we go deep into a cup domestic/European and get a higher place league finish. If we achieved a champions league place and then another pre season of players in, I would hope to be getting silverware in season 24/25. Saying that……I reckon we’ll win the conference and the league this season 😂😂🦁🦁😉UTV

This is Smiths team plus, players that were considered not good enough to get us where we wanted to go, time , experience and yes the brilliance of Unai has proven that smiths and the clubs 5 year plan has blossomed.

I can actually see Liverpool improving this year. Its everyone saying that Spurs will suddenly be great this season that confuses me. Their squad is absolutely average and if they lose Kane then they're finished. Postecoglou won't do anything special.

Aston Villa will win the Premier League and shock the world! I love the way everyone talks us down and says we will be finishing 7th - 8th! Lol! People just can't get over the fact that just because your in the so called (BIG 6) you must have a better team squad and manager than Aston Villa! We have an incredible defence. Incredible midfield and incredible forward line! Aston Villa have brought in 3 top quality signings in so far this window with at least 3 more top quality signings to come in before the end of the transfer window IMO. We have some super ⭐ young youth players that will also come into the first team squad and perform for us. All this BS talk about VIlla are in the Conference League so we will struggle with the Premier League! WTF! We have a big enough and good squad now and the strength in depth to win the Premier League and the conference league this season and do well in the other 2 domestic cups. We have a world class manager. World class recruitment team and World class owners now. I will love it so much when come Christmas and Villa are top of the league looking down on the so called BIG teams! All the pundits who are currently saying all this BS about Villa finishing top 7 - 8 now will all wake up and realise just how good Aston Villa now are! I know people don't believe me and think I am crazy Lol! That is Ok and Ok and fine with me as you always get everyone talking down Villa and underestimating Aston Villa! This season Aston Villa will Win the Premier League and shock the world! And you know what you will remember that you heard it here and read it first today in this comment! UTV!
