Idk about in the states, but in NZ, as much as you may want to support local retailers, it was $300 NZD cheaper buying directly from meta, I got mine last week, until I get paid again next week I don't feel like I've scratched the surface of what this is capable of but I'm learning more and more about what I can do, I've got a new headstrap on the way, I'm gonna look at more games next week and see about the AR games I can get, but I'm enjoying it a lot, I was sitting on my couch and was just enjoying adam savage tested's VR channel where you can watch a video fully filmed for VR consumption, streaming blade and sorcery from my pc so i can play with mods is great especially due to either having 128gb of storage or having 512gb of storage on the quest itself, streaming from your pc is still a good viable option. My network is solid and its set up on wireless whenever i play blade and sorcery and ive had very minimal hitching or lag from the experience personally it just feels fluid and smooth which is great

Bought it for 100€ for cheaper than a new one. For some reason the previous owner had just opened it, used it 2 times and returned it to the store. Basically brand new with 100€ less. I got an Index (broken and warranty is long past) and the Quest 3 is so much better. The clarity is phenomenal and it is light, very light. Love it and I recommend it. Solid upgrade from Quest 2 and maybe Index.

Don’t agree with the PCVR comment in the video, it’s a massive improvement with Virtual Desktop in Godmode, it’s as good as my Varjo Aero, it’s incredible what this headset can actually upscale too

I have a Vive Pro w/Index controllers and FBT, however I really only the setup for games like VRChat (which I play a lot) I love my setup, but it becomes so much of a hassle trying to get everything situated for games other than VRChat, since my playspace is much different for VRChat, vs playing other games. I've used the Rift S and the CV1 headsets, but after the Rift S I went straight to Vive Pro, so I was never able to experience a fully wireless VR headset. My dad has been hinting at the fact he probably got me a Quest 3, which I'm super excited about since I mainly want to use it for other VR Games and for the Mixed Reality feature. He was also talking about how if it's any better than the Rift S/looks really good he'll probably get one too, which judging by the reviews for the headset, it should be. :)

Great video and I agree with almost everything you said. However, for me at least the Quest 3 is an amazing PCVR. When using Virtual Desktop app, while running high graphical settings, HEVC 10 bit codec, and my bit rate as 200 Mbps, I get around 30-40 ms ping. Granted, I am lucky enough to have great internet connection speed so others might not have the similar experience.

Virtual desktop and Air Link utilize the power of your wireless router, not your internet connection. A good Wifi 6e router connected directly to your gaming PC via ethernet cable will provide optimal performance regardless of your internet connection. Other things to keep in mind are interference from other wifi devices and distance of the headset to the router.

It will be good for sure, reasolution is great, and if your willing to spend the money for sure it's still a great headset. But Purley for PCVR it's not going to be a substantial upgrade for the price in my opinion.

I got a quest 3. It has a lot of potential but, it's all significantly cut in half by the battery, and, the biggest issues in my opinion. No USB-4 or dp port. Also it desperately needs a 2nd USB port dedicated for charging.

A usb 10,000mah PD 20watt power bank is definitely required with a quest 3

Very easy fix, just put a powerbank in your pocket of your trouser/pants, and put a cable under your shirt. I have a 20.000mAh powerbank and can play for 12 hours with my quest 2 using the cable that came with my phone.

@@harmleyten4 I already have a charging head strap but, none of these headsets allow for data passthrough. Only power. Using a power bank takes up the USB port witch I need for sideloading and, streaming input video through my capture card to the headset. Of course I can stream wirelessly but to the headset but, then lantancy becomes a problem. Then the issue of power consumption of running a 6000 dollar computer along with the device I want to stream to the headset. It's more impractical than anything else. The whole setup to use a capture card to send video input is already kind of impractical. Especially when all meta has to do is add a usb-4/dp/thunderbolt port. Witch many people have been asking for since the quest 2. A second USB port would have been nice to have just for charging and, would make development less of a pain. The worst part is. It wouldn't cost that much do in the first place. Doing so would hardly increase the price of the headset.

@@chan13153 battery isn't my main issue. It's just one of the issues I pointed out. The easiest why to fix a charging problem. A battery pack witch I have. Witch takes up the only USB port on the quest 3 and since the battery packs including all the 3rd party don't have data pass though. It's either use a battery pack or charge your headset every one and, a half hours. It makes developing apps a pain. Especially if your just learning how andz getting into app development. I'm pretty sure many others are having the same problem. These are are things that many people have been requesting since the quest 2

When you buy the 2 you'll want the 3, you'll get a longer shelf like on the 3. Meta has pretty much dropped support for the quest 1 and I'd imagine at some point the same will be for the quest 2

I would recommend getting the 128GB Quest 3. It is a little more than Q2, but you have an extended shelf life to look forward to in ADDITION to the latest updates we haven't even heard of yet. The updates for the Q2 were unimaginable, I personally can't wait to see what the Q3 has in store with us.

Meta quest 2 goggles had the battery issue were it wasted too quick and it seems this one’s have the same issues and you need a PC to run this goggles and other factors along the way that make this goggles a pain in the arse to use.Also when oculus 2 were fresh out of the box they looked very clear then they get blurry and I believe the same will be with this one after a while of use they will get a blurry visual.The oculus2 were a rave for a very short time then you end up seeing them at pond shops and I think this will be the same case.

I also send it back but it's not bad by any means. You want to stream videos, play a little, like doing sports with it, buy! You like colors, black levels and pc vr, get another because streaming is not a hdmi connection and everything appears washed out color wise

It's like we are using different headsets.. Quest 3 tracking is the worst even a downgrade from the Q2 and here you are praising Q3 all this video. There are even official complaints from devs about downgraded tracking on the Q3. Tragedy for shooters picking a gun from a hip Q3 does not even register your coontrolers and constantly has floaty, jittery guns for no reason.

I'm only speaking from my experience, almost certainly each headset is not creating Equally, same goes for controllers. My quest pro controllers were terrible for example. But my quest 3 so far has been flawless in terms of tracking. Maybe I just got a good untit 🤔 I'm not sure, it's hard to tell.

Def not the majority. Most say the tracking is great. And this headset only just came out. Bugs are getting fixed and it will only get better and better. Quest 2 is an entirely different device than it was when it launched with all the updates and big fixes. It will be the same for Q3

Meta did not give AI tracking for Q2 users being able to track controller behind the headset and etc.. but Q3 is clearly a downgrade in terms of accuracy with new LED rings and camera design. Though Pico, on the other hand, did give AI tracking to the Pico 4 and it has better AI tracking and accuracy on another level now. I even made a whole video comparing the P4 to Q3.

I thought AI tracking is a new feature for Q3 but turns out Pico added the same thing with a software update and did not even brag about it. BUT Meta did not add it to the Q2 even it's clearly a software feature... Pico AI seems even more accurate behind the headset too. And it never has 'random minor glitches' that are not so minor and not so random when you play Breachers and constantly lower the gun for running but suddenly bring rifle to aim and Quest 3 just does not switch to ring tracking QUITE OFTEN leaving floaty, jittery gun. Same goes holding the rifle straight and turning the head to look around, suddenly it looses tracking of the rifle without moving the hands. The issue is so not minor that eleven table tennis dev has a whole game that you swing controllers at the hip and his game is broken with the Q3 update and he has an official public complaint with no response from Meta.

Depends on the games you want to play. As far as me, I prefer VR over flat screen games (PC, Console, etc.) just because it keeps me active and doesn’t make me bored in the slightest.
