The most powerful advice I always go back to is "everything is going to end up in the dumpster " I always had guilt about throwing things away, but I don't live near a donation center so I would either keep things or drive around with them in my car for months. Not anymore, no more guilt about tossing things out.

Cas, so last year on my 50th birthday I adopted a cat but because my house is such a mess my daughter housed him. Well a year has gone by and I still can’t house him. My daughter and her boyfriend broke up. So when she said we need to talk about the cat I was nervous. Well her boyfriend said he wants him because he has been taking care of him. So when you said it’s not about the cat I burst out laughing 😂! This is my sign I need to get my house in order. Thanks Cas for all your support.

Signed up for the 30-day challenge. The first spot to address is the coat closet or entryway. I said, “I don’t need to declutter that - I’ve done it recently!” But I checked anyway - got rid of two pairs of boots, relocated a scarf and a sweater, and recycled an empty box. Cas knows best!

For the lady who cannot find time to take items to a donation center. I found out that some centers will pickup your items. I found a center that picks up in my area once a month. I just have to call and schedule them to pickup at my place and where the items will be. I put my items on my patio. They even leave a donation form in case I want to put the donation on my taxes. This might be an alternative for you.

I think this has legitimately changed my life. I am always so concerned about things going to the landfill, but Cas is so right - just because I don't put it there doesn't mean the people at Goodwill or the people who buy it at Goodwill aren't going to just throw it away!! Wow! That is a total mindset shift for me and it's going to make decluttering so much easier for me.

Donations go straight into the back of the car. Last carful, I tried for a week to take it to the "good" thrift store without success, as they kept closing their loading dock due to weather, etc. Finally, I just put it all into one of those parking lot donation bins. I need to remember, my stuff is not a cat, it doesn't need to be perfectly rehomed! I just sorted bags of crayons, markers, and colored pencils out of our arti supplies and was wondering if I should drop them off at the Y or maybe the elementary school... Nope, it's going into the box for the next thrift store dropoff, doesn't need to go to the "best" place, just needs to be gone!

So I did it all. The pain along with the anger I had for my mom while caring 24 hours a day for dad. It was awful. When daddy died in 2021 the house was really clean. That’s when I finally broke down to grieve the loss of these amazeballs people. Get this. The house was left to my sister. One thing which has helped me a lot is that some of the charities here let me schedule free pickups online. It's as easy as packing the items, scheduling, and leaving them outside for pickup on the scheduled day. The number of bags our trash company will pickup is limited each week, so this really speeds up the process, and I hope the items might go to someone who needs them more than me (obviously, please don't donate trash or things in poor condition). They even leave a tax receipt. I'm sure this isn't available everywhere, but it might be worth checking if it's something you're interested in!

THANK-YOU for reminding me of the best dopamine-inducing trick for me that I've ever found. I have lots of to-do lists, but I also have a DONE list. It's a bright colored spiral notebook that I keep. At the top of a page, I write the date, and list all the things I got done that day -- even if it wasn't on a to-do list -- even small things like flossing my teeth. It not only induces dopamine to see the list grow, but I also am super competitive, so I can't help trying to beat my record for the longest list in one day. To have to turn the page and start on a new sheet is SUPER motivating.

This is the video I needed! I asked in another video if we could go crazy if we got the itch! 5 minutes, 5 items

I like decluttering, but I find it difficult to find time for it. Body doubling is the best! ❤ I just noticed this challenge and I will start this little late. But I was already decluttering today while listening your videos and it was so helpful!
