It was a no-brainer for Bodyboard Holidays to launch bodyboard coaching holidays in Portugal. This was for a few different reasons. Reason number one, Matt 'Mave' Davies lives down in Portugal. He's a fantastic bodyboard coach that works for us, he knows the area super well, speaks fluent Portuguese, has lived there for about 15 years and has loads of contacts to make sure that we're in the best place for the best waves every day. The next reason is Portugal is a bodyboarding hub, definitely the bodybuilding center of Europe. There's more bodyboarders there than surfers at most of beach breaks that you visit and the waves that you visit lend themselves to really good fun bodyboarding conditions. There's stacks of wedges and there's stacks of shore breaks. There's conditions that are going to deliver super fun bodyboarding sessions for you guys. We go to the South and the West coast, so we have two coasts to choose from, which means that whether we get massive swell or we get a smaller swell we can travel to where the waves are going to be best to you. It's got some fantastic airport hubs for you to travel into, Faro or Lisbon. We get lots of guests that visit Lisbon first and then they travel down the coast, taking in a bit of culture on the way. It's called the old continent for good reason - there's lots and lots of steeped history - lots of castles, cathedrals and lots of really interesting places to visit. I think my favourite part of Portugal is the laid-back bohemian lifestyle. We wake up in the morning, we go bodyboarding, we get out of the water and go to one of our local special cafe spots on the beach. We check out the cafe we sit there, we have a coffee we have a 'pastel de nata' which is one of my favourite little cakes there we have a 'Tosta Mista' which is cheese and ham on toast, which is pretty simple but at the same time super soft on the pocket.
