I've never known where to stand on the pro lick vs anti lick question. But you've clarified that a lick is just another term for a pattern, one that can be modified in so many ways, one that is a stepping off point for the generation of more ideas. It seems if you start with a lick and keep modifying it, you end up with something perhaps unrecognizable from where you started, but you've started with an idea rather than a blank slate. I think for some people the word lick stands for a pattern become cliched. But still, the lick needs to be embraced, just, as you show, made smarter. Thanks, Søren.

I totally agree in what you are saying. A lick is a form of learning. Take it through all 12 keys, learn the shapes, learn the hows and the why's. Articulation and phrasing. There are so many things in licks

Saw your email, great idea, you get so much more value. All material also in the concert - for guitar. Love to see you in the community

I may have missed something, but you are playing the major 7 arpeggio over the dominant 7 chord in the blues form. Is that intentional? Thanks.

Thank you for asking the question. Yes I am playing the maj7 on the dom 7. Charlie Parker started doing that a lot in his solo. Try checking out the omnibook with Charlie Parker solos. Resulted in the Parker blues like Blues for Alice
