OH MY GOD!! The Galápagos Islands really are another world altogether. This place is BEYOND words, the landscapes and epic wildlife here are just INSANE!!
For our first time here we stayed for 3 nights splitting our time between San Cristobal and Santa Cruz - two of the most popular islands in the Galápagos. It was super easy flying from mainland Ecuador into San Cristobal and then getting the speedboat between San Cristobal to Santa Cruz.
San Cristobal was the perfect introduction to the beauty of the Galapagos, being able to learn all about it at the Interpretation Centre and then hiking to various beaches and snorkelling spots in that area, as well as hanging out all day on Playa Mann beach, sharing our space with the sea lions and watching the sun go down.
No trip to San Cristobal is complete without visiting the FAMOUS Kicker Rock - whether you want to snorkel or dive this place is MAGICAL: Hammerhead sharks, Eagle Rays, Galapagos Sharks, Turtles and so much more it was UNREAL. Plus the restaurant scene here also surprised us with lovely places to eat and dink of a nighttime.
Santa Cruz stole our hearts with its GIANT Tortoise, laid back vibe and great cafe / restaurant culture. We could have easily spent longer here visiting more beautiful beaches and relaxing. We did more Diving here (of course) at Gordons Rocks and Daphne / Mosquera - these dives were EPIC, seeing 100's of Hammerhead sharks and being engulfed in schools of fish!
A ONCE IN A LIFETIME trip that we will never forget! We are already planning our return to this magical set of Islands!

@@livandlew thanks. i've gone back and forth about getting a GoPro or just getting a housing unit for my iphone 15 pro max.... now i'm back to reconsidering... thanks for sharing your advice on the islands...

We’ve had the same struggles! Seen a lot of good stuff on iPhones. The DJI Osmo action 4 is likely our next move for underwater. Currently using an insta 360 X3, which is good for wide perspectives but not good for close ups

Hey, We didn’t track total costs, but meals would cost about £30-35 a head in the nicest places. Diving was about £100 a dive with rental equipment. Which other costs would you like to know? Thank you
