One little tip on jeans: Buy snug if you like that fit, but for RAW denim, you must buy one or two sizes bigger. The fabric shrinks a lot as you wash it. My regular fit pair became skinny jeans after only one wash. The only way to keep them like how they were off the rack is to never wash them, which is not very hygienic isn't it 😅 Some people really love the unique pattern of raw denim, but taking care of them is a pain in the ass. And they don't stretch, only shrinks. This might help someone 🙏
@edemaye332810 ай бұрын
Mostly when you buy unsanforised - you gotta know what you’re buying. Unsanforised jeans often come rinsed these days in the European market ( still technically ‘raw’ ) which means they will shrink about as much when washed as most raw sanforised jeans - ie about an inch in the leg, and a little everywhere else. Why I state this is that not all ‘raw’ denim is the same in quality or behaviour - Orslow raw denim for instance is unsanforised - which has been rinsed once
@MereCashmere9 ай бұрын
So so so so so wrong. In raw denim, buy pants that fit you off the rack.
@edemaye33289 ай бұрын
@@MereCashmere for most commercially sold denim - which is wide loom and sanforised - often heavily processed - buy what fits off the rack. For the highest quality Japanese selvedge denim, which is mostly unsanforised - you must make an allowance for shrinkage - even if the jeans have been pre-rinsed. The Orslows in h the video started off unsanforised and have been rinsed. They will shrink a bit more.
@MereCashmere9 ай бұрын
@edemaye3328 if you speak to any Japanese selv denim manufacturer they will tell you to buy what fits off the rack. You've spent too much time on reddit and fell for one of the many myths about selv denim
@edemaye33289 ай бұрын
@@MereCashmere I’ve spent zero time on Reddit, just 30 Years buying quality denim ( and not all of it is selvedge ) - in short, selvedge denim is not necessarily the same as unsanforised denim ( I have orslow 90’s raw unselvedge denim which came raw unsanforised and has shrunk by over 10% from raw ) - but I digress - in short you’re mostly correct - most selvedge denim is sanforised ( ie mechanically shrunk as a fabric in factory ) or in the case of small artisan Japanese brands, made in unsanforised denim and factory rinsed to remove most of the shrinkage - so of course buy the size that fits - that’s why the manufacturers do this - to make it easier to find a pair that fits. My comments were, since Harry was talking Orlsow - beware that some Japanese jeans come - selvedge or otherwise - in raw loomstate and unsanforised - and can shrink by up to 10%. Agreed this is a pretty niche market now - but still worth mentioning. Buy you jeans at bricks and mortar stores like Son of a Stag or Rivet and Hide in London, or Selfedge in San Fransisco - and you’ll get the same advice together with a bomber Union Special chainstich on the hem for beautiful roping. As I said, not mass market, and more faff than most will be bothered with or appreciate. Not sure what info you found on Reddit but the old denim myths, been here, done that, moved on

Having a short, stubby stature, pants are the absolute toughest piece for me to fit the way I like. I usually go for the lowest rise I can find and it has to be perfectly snug at the waist and my upper thigh. From there, the rest of the leg can range from slim to relaxed, sometimes wide. Depends on the mood. This is what I think a lot of people get wrong when trying to rock oversized styles. If the piece is meant to be oversized, get your ACTUAL size (sometimes you’ll need to size down, even). I avoid anything tapered (no joggers for me), so straight or relaxed is my grind. Although, I’m still on the hunt for a nice fitting harem style pant for a more daring look! lol So for short, stubby, slightly chubby guys like me, this has what worked for me best.

On fading, I find that cotton pants tend to fade much faster than wool blended pants. And while I realize that some guys can't wear wool for various reasons, they tend to breathe the best of any pants I've worn. They don't need the same care as a linen pant, most are made to be machine washable, and there are TONS of great options in different colors and fits. And the nice thing is, you can get them in a mid weight for all season, light weight (or tropical wool) for hotter climates, or even merino / cashmere blends when it's a bit cooler.

If you prefer a certain rise - and you specifically know the rise you want - good luck. Very few places give you the rise measurements. Even less offer true high rise pants which is at your belly button.

I’m like a 30 in the waist but I usually like to have my pants sit at my hip than my waist mainly cuz I like the belt to be showing. A size 30 is good in the waist but doesn’t really fit at my hip, should I go up a size then ?

What about acne studios jeans?

They are solid. I got them when I was a waist size bigger so they are a bit big but amazing jeans. Highly recommend

I spent most of my adult life thinking I had a small ass, which had to mean saggy ass pants. Turned out it was a problem of fit. Once I started wearing vintage cuts - Japanese 50s repros - with a proper waist, then pants didn’t fall off me, and the problem was solved

This just happened to me. I bought a few trousers from Mango in my US size and they fit extremely small. So annoying having to go through the return process and look all over again

It’s very frustrating when it’s a long ordering/returns process

As the time goes by I realised that buying a pair of trousers or jeans is really hard. For myself, I found that M&S trousers are actually really nice for the price, they have a nice cut and fabric. For the jeans I normally go to H&M, COS.

I've the same mensuration than you and wanted to try Uniqlo pants put can't try in shop directly, i can only order. So what's better choice ? Order S and M and return the one that don't fit ? Order only M ?
@HarryHas10 ай бұрын
If you can I’d order both and send the pair that don’t fit back.

@@HarryHas Thank you! Would you recommend me to proceed this way for most of their articles that I like? Take the one that seems to be my size + the one closest to it.
@HarryHas10 ай бұрын
@@masterchief9148 no. That would just mean you are going to be returning a lot of stuff. Their trousers can be a bit tricky as they are just small medium and large but for tops just get your regular size. If it’s the wrong size then send it back and exchange for another size.
@masterchief914810 ай бұрын
@@HarryHas You're right, for the top it looks a bit simpler. As soon as I've found my size for a trouser reference, I can order the same size in another color with no worries, but this size won't necessarily be the same for other references of the brand, do we agree?

I just bought some APC. Love the cut and color but they sit so low on my waist it's insane. Almost makes me not want to wear them.

Specifically, those Uniqlo trousers you show (towards the middle of the video) would probably be the easiest to tailor. Taking in the seat and waist (even an inch and a half in the seat, to two inches in the waist would be better) would improve the drape significantly, something that most guys I work with need in a slimmer pant.

I typically have the issue with the crotch area being too short or too flat(?) like there is no room for "me" lmao Was so happy to try the Dickies 874s and they just had no space whatsoever.

THIS! I hate the fact that this seems to be the default design for all jeans. Wearing the pants too low looks disgusting.

Jeans that aren’t mostly if not all cotton. They stretch out. A bit of Lycra helps.
