this came right in time for me to view. I got a voicemail from a recruiter for an HR Assistant position & so I called back the same day super excited and couldn’t get a hold of her so I left a voicemail and called once every other day. Never got a call back after that first call. :/ but it’s fine I know when one door closes another one will open! just hoping I hear something soon from any of the applications I submitted.

Thank you for sending the link. I think it’s #3! I was sourced for the role, she sent me a date/time without asking for my availability. The phone interview was a stress interview on Teams with no video. It was very aggressive for a phone interview. The role closed the same day I was interviewed so I made the short list. After watching this, I think it’s the recruiter not me.

Hey!! I am currently an NCO in the army. I’ve been in the military for 8 years now and finishing my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I am getting out after this contract and trying to get into the Human Resources field. Do you have any advice or tips on what I can do now so that I am competitive when applying for a job? Also what type of HR position should I be acquiring base on my degree & and military experience but no HR experience?

I've applied to my alma mater at LSU and the hiring manager just ghosted me. She didn't even give me insight and recommendations from the interview. This interview was two months ago.

What I’m about to say is easier said than done, but here goes. Get out of your feelings, create a strategy on for your job search & keep going. I can’t remember how many times I’ve gotten ghosted then reached out to later. The ball is in your court. It’s your career, not these companies. Good thing is that’s your alma matter, so join their Alumni groups & give them that feedback. It may turn out successfully. I applied to my alma matter & got the job offer but was not impressed with the salary & cost of parking so I rejected them. It felt bad but the results were great over time bc I’ve continued to increase my salary. I doubt that would’ve happened there.

My wife who has a master's degree in special education got ghosted by the school district I graduated from. It was devastating for both of us. Granted, they had a new district administrator and he wasn't the best person for the job. This was back in 2008. Luckily this guy is gone and they have a better person now.

This is what I tell my siblings. Do you want the job? Then keep calling, until they give you a solid answer. If you annoy them? Who cares, that's their problem. What are they gonna do, fire you? And then what? The more persistent you are the more it would seem that you actually want the job, and you put your name in their heads, and they'll be more likely to follow up. Be punctual, call them once during the morning, and again in the evening. Before the day started, and when work is about to end. So, that you stay at the front and the back of the mind. "Goodmorning (ma'am, sir), my name is so-n-so, I applied for a (insert position) on (month/date), and I'm calling to inquire on the status of my application." Getting jobs are like dating. Be upfront and honest, and the rest will work itself out. Be persistent until you get a "no". If it doesn't work, then, go get another. But don't ever beg!

I must admit, that can be received in a negative way. Please be tactical & strategic about your approach. Being that aggressive can give the wrong vibe & cause you to not get the job.

Grateful. I just discovered your channel by accident. I'm in Harlem, NYC, but, I'm originally from Florence, SC. I graduated with my MS in Human Resource Management and Development from NYU-SPS last May. Yes, the job search has been a real trip. LOL! I was ghosted two weeks ago after three rounds; I had a gut feeling about the VP of Recruiting's energy during the interview. I think God blocked that door for a reason because I applied to Wayne State University Law School for the Master of Studies in Law degree program (Human Resources concentration) on August 8th, and they admitted me with no problem with a partial scholarship. I'm keeping it moving as you said. P.S. I have subscribed to your channel too.

I feel like that always ebs & flows. Nothing beyond the normal up & down trend. But I recently moved out of TA, so I’m not directly involved. As an HRBP, I’m qued in near final round & offer stage.

When I apply in linkedin and see over 200 applications, I apply I knowing they likely will not see it

LinkedIn numbers are false. That number reflects the # of clicks. Everyone that clicks doesn’t always apply & some folks click more the once. I suggest applying directly to the company’s website. Most times the one-click apply through LinkedIn is a partial application too.

Thanks for sharing this video. I think a lot of people are desperate to find new employment especially when you are laid off. It’s hard not to take getting ghosted or rejection personally when you’re trying to replace your income source. I hope that anyone that watched this video takes some solace in what was shared in the video and looks at the situation as if the positions that they were not selected for weren’t meant for them. The right position for each person will come, but you have to be consistent with applying and always tailor your resume for the position you are applying for.

@@akiagemmati8868 to that point you are correct. Its tough when you are laid off and have been for months wondering WTF? Yeah, I get it. As simple as it is to advise "not getting emotional" its also tough as a candidate knowing you are qualified for a role, the runway gets shorter each day, and......nothing. I also think that the ETS systems are horrible. They are a double edged sword for sure. It helps reduce the load, yet it isn't smart enough to "know" if the candidate is actually qualified. They simply check the boxes if X criteria or data point exists. Human intervention could prevent that, but to her point in her video, some people are lazy.
