I on other hand had issues with sleep. As long as 1 variable is off, for all we know, you might actually have pretty decent genetics but be under the impression that they are crap. So before quitting, depressing or thinking about TRT-bs, make sure every variable is on the right track
@SeuOu
@SeuOu 22 күн бұрын
@@user-ii7xc1ry3x Great advice for people who feel like they can't put on any muscle. All it takes is one foundational element being sufficiently off to kill your gains. Buy a food scale, make SURE every box on training list is checked off, and keep at it for AT LEAST 3-4 months without falling off the rails. If you still aren't seeing the scale go up, THEN you can legitimately consider whether you just don't have the genetics to make training worthwhile.

I’m a hard gainer. I cannot train twice a week, even with lower volumes. I cannot recover. But when I have my training right, HIT 2 on 1 off 5 workouts so training every 8 days, I just grow. Here’s my point. If you’re getting injured, you could very well just be undereating. I start getting all these stupid nagging things when I don’t eat enough. Just food for thought.
@ugk26
@ugk26 7 күн бұрын
@@lexionis3901 What I’m saying is this. If I’m eating in a surplus, holding a bit of fat and water, I’m bulletproof. It’s always when I’m in a deficit, dry, etc that I get some stupid little injury. Nothing serious but something I have to work around. It’s annoying, but ultimately my fault. I’m just training too hard for my age I think at this point.

I do an U/L split with a designated arm day in the middle. I try to hit most muscles 12 sets per week (6 sets per session). Quads and Hams 9 sets over the week. I do 4 sets each for Triceps (isolation) and biceps, and 18 for shoulders (6 sets on each Up day and 6 on arm day). For me, the most important thing.....is probably the simplest thing....track everything (reps, weight, sets, et al).

I’m the hardest working guy on the landscape builder crew. Or the stone mason crew. Or the Sod farm. I’m just an animal. I’m realizing my metabolism is so fast and i overwork my body so much it’s getting real expensive nowadays to feed myself, in summer especially. Right now I’m trying to work less frantically and do pull ups and dips in the garage while eating even more. It’s so hard to consume my needed meals… I moved the couch into the garage next to the duo bar and pull up bar. Now I’m growing cannabis to help motivate my food intake. I’m currently eating greek yogurt with blueberries mangoes and sunflower seeds, honey and lemon favored while typing this. Buying tons of brats. Tons of rice I’m steaming. Black beans. 5 😊eggs evertime I eat eggs. Creatine daily. Multivitamin daily. Gatorade dry mix. Céreal with milk. Pasta with red sauce and meat. Chicken. Tuna. Pb and j. Today I ate 1 1/2 bags of salad for lunch after my brats. I’m still 128 right now. I’m 44.

From watching these videos a beginner will think that going to the gym isn't even worth it if you don't go all in. Of course 2-6 sessions a week is optimal, but for many that is understandably not worth it. One full body session a week can cause huge results in a beginner and can still get you pretty far. That should be worth it for everyone, even if muscle building isn't your main focus in life.

I have been lifting 2.5 years. I was hoping to be a little bigger by now. I do struggle with deep sleep. However, I try to make sure I eat a lot and I train enough volume, and I also train pretty freaking hard. So I know I at least have the genetics to push hard, that I've heard Dr. Mike speak of. Anyways, I am going to give it at least 5 years (2.5 more) total of doing this before I "give up" on my genetics and realize this is as far as I can go. At that point, I'll just maintain, I guess. Good luck to everybody else as well.

I think in my 20s I never worked a muscle more than once a week. This is probably why I never gained too much, plus my genetics. Right now 55 years old, 5 foot 11, and 136 pounds. But you can tell that I do lift weights. I thought lifting so much was just for guys on steroids. So, is this advice for natural lifters as well.

Dr Mike usually talks about only adding drugs (which he does NOT recommend) after you're doing everything else correct, like he describes here. So yes, advice for natural lifters. Adjusting number of sets based on how quickly you are recovering

Please tell me you’re shredded. I’m 202 at 5,11 with some muscle but could stand to trim down a bit. I can’t imagine being 136. I weighed 160 when I graduated high school and was pretty darn thin.

From 45kg to 72kg in a year here going from 6ft tall skinny to not shredder but fairly lean for a normie. That's a ton of muscle. Now I'm here making normal gains instead of ginormous easily measured and noticeable gains. This just put that into perspective. It's easy to make giant strides when you start at a negairve but eventually, progress slows down. Being sad about this doesn't help.

Guess Dr Mike forgot that most people aren't on PEDs lol. 4-6 workouts a week, come on. No way you aren't going to overtrain, if those workout sessions are junk.

You are training 3 times a week, you take half your sets and move them to 3 other days. You are now training 6 times a week with better recovery, all completely natural.

personal question. why does it always have to be about building muscle? Why can't we talk about gaining more strength like how powerlifters do? strength matters a lot. Alex Leonidas talks about this very often, his physic looks insane. It just takes patience and time, the reward from training for strength is long lasting gains compared to gains acquired by training focused more on hypertrophy. Yes it does feel like the gains are far-fetched that's where patience, hard work and lifting heavy comes in.

Because that's where their specialties lie. They like it, they study it, and it pays their bills. It's like asking an NFL quarterback why they are talking about football so much.

I find when benching and dumbbell pressing very heavy; my triceps take a beating and a lot of times they still outpaced my biceps.
