My husband told me "we will always be in debt, have credit cards, and car notes" I took over our finances when we got married and have kept us on a budget for 8 years. Currently only have a mortgage and 0 other debt. 😊

Great video. I also had to unsubscribe from KZbin channels geared towards shopping. I didn’t even know the stuff existed. I’d much rather travel😊❤

The ‘debt is a part of life’ is the most frequent thing I hear or ‘you’ll always owe somebody’ it’s exhausting, can’t get it through their head.

Even having money in the bank, I feel a squeeze sometimes. Lots of things come up, but I keep replacing what I spend. Good to have cash to fall back on. Great video, Leila! Glad you made this video!!

There are a few KZbinrs that don’t have an “emergency” fund due to law of attraction, but I agree that we can just call it something else. For instance I have an income replacement fund for when I’m transitioning jobs or taking a few months sabbatical. I also have car fund because we know it needs repairs and can break down at some point. The list goes on. Just give the fund another name if “emergency” is bad juju for you lol.

Yeah I'm all for LOA but I don't see my emergency fund like that, I guess it's how you perceive things!

Def the support group/people you surround yourself with! and social media is terrible right now for finances. you cant even opt out of ads anymore or hide them...even i find myself checking those products out. i wish we could opt out of them.

Hello Leila. I’ve really enjoyed watching your journey. It has inspired me to get serious with my budget and prioritize savings and investing. I’m curious if during your less than 5 year debt payoff journey you’ve had any Emergencies that required over the $1000 DR recommends?

Thanks Aaron! And yes! Quite a few actually: -Paying off the rest of a car I co-signed on (I have a video sharing this story) >$2.5K -Surgery for my dog >$2K -Root Canal/Other dental issues >$1K -Unexpected surgery >$1K There's probably some things I'm missing but yeah $1K EF just doesn't work for me personally!

Impulse shopping is my enemy right now. Instead of grocery shopping I'm eating out almost every day since March. I'm calling it my march madness. 😂😂

I have paid off my wife's credit card debts 3 times; then each time she maxed out up again! I can't afford to pay her debts anymore. I keep utilization on my accounts below 7%.

I'm sorry to hear that 😩 I can imagine it's tough if your partner isn't on board, I hope you can get through to her!

Close the accounts, sit with her and tell of the future you dream of together. Paying it three times is enabling her. Go to counseling. Worse senate finances completely. Let her wreck her own credit. And suffer for it.

@@PersonalFinancewithLeila it definitely is! I already have it populated and am looking at Feb 2025. It’s great- I’ve been tracking payoff but nothing as dynamic as this and it really helps 🥰

I’m going to be very vulnerable😅 you hit the nail on the head with the impulse buying and another thing that I spend money on is eating out😅 I do so good and get my debt down to just a couple hundred dollars and then the cycle starts all over again 🫣😫 I really need to do better but it’s hard breaking the never ending cycle!
