I owned a 2006 Cadillac DTS Level 3 with Every Option Cadillac Offered in 2006. I bought it in 2008 with only 14,000 miles, a totally awesome ride. But I must say whether you live in a trailer or a 20,000 Sq. Ft. Mansion, the only difference in us Cadillac owners is that some can afford the repairs and some can't. I left the Cadillac service department with a $2,300.00 bill. I paid cash. But a smaller repair for our "Trailer Cadillac Owners" is you start your Cadillac DTS one night and one of your headlights is OUT. Too replace your front Cadillac DTS Headlight is $700.00. My dad told me in my 20's when I bought my 1974 Corvette Coupe with the monster 454, a man who drives a Corvette does not worry about the Price of Gas, or Insurance, or Repairs. A man who has to worry about any of those things should not be driving a Corvette. My dad was my Hero, He was Always Right. Well I drove that Corvette in my 20's, but in my 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, and now in my 70's I have Always Driven the Top of The Line Cadillacs, Fleetwoods in the 80's and 90's, after 2000 it was the Cadillac DHS then the DTS. Finally I bought a new 2019 Cadillac XTS ( the Last Year they were made) and paid CASH. My only advice is My Dad's Advice, If you buy a Cadillac or any other car of stature, you better be able to buy the gas , insurance, and any repairs you might need without ""DOING WITHOUT". I've owned my 2006 DTS Performance since new. Great car with a smooth running Northstar. I changed the sound system and the cup holders to the 08 and up deeper holders. Mine is the black on black. I did recently change the seats to red leather. The mag ride is awesome.

I just recently bought a 2006 dts from and older guy who passed away. Its got 176000 miles on it and runs really well. Very well maintained. Very comfortable and rides smooth down the highway. I like it alot however its in the shop now getting looked at. Some reason my front passenger headlight keeps shutting off. I would turn the lights off and then back on again and they would both work. But then it would cut off again. Hopefully its not a major fix. Sounds like a electrical problem. But other than that its a nice ride.

Bought my 2007 Performance DTS new. It has a console shift. Also fancy wheels. I get 22-23 MPG on the highway. Always have. Less in town. Now has 276,000 miles on it. Yes it drips some oil. It does not smoke.

I rented one a DTS for a wedding , it shut my lawyer uncle up in his 91' 560 SEL. I loved that car couldn't stop driving it. My friend got his from his dad who was a traveling salesman they both liked it well over 200k miles !

I am wanting to know what the rear suspension is all about.. I own a 2007 DTS and I am use to lowrider feels but the rear is really stiff.. I have just ordered a new set of shock for the rear and haven't put them on.. but curious to know what the good and bad are with the rear ride and any and all adjustments that can be made

I am, for all intents and purposes, inheriting my father-in-law's 2006 DTS, and the first thing I have issue with, is that it's too small (for me) but I really can't blame the car or GM for that... The other issues are another matter. Any car that requires the bumper to be removed, just to change a turn signal or marker lamp should require the engineering team that approved the design to be taken out and flogged! Thereafter, they should be required to replace them until they have blisters from doing it! While the Northstar V8 may have had the head problems resolved by 2006, it still has the chronic oil leaking problem, which much like the bulb replacement issue, is a major pain in the @$$ to fix for a DIY repair, and major cost to pay someone else to endure the pain... The maintenance costs are high BECAUSE of the design choices made by folks who never thought about doing it until afterwards if at all. (Why a 2-piece engine block with an extra gasket to fail?!?!?) This one is leaking oil from every gasket it can, & the car is not comfortable enough to me for me to be willing to reseal the engine (it still won't be comfy after it doesn't leak!). I'm not likely to be bored and lonely enough to pull the engine and I'm not willing to pay anyone else to fix it when the repair cost will easily exceed the bluebook value of the car... My mother-in-law doesn't like it enough to pay for the repairs either, so it's likely to be another one that's put up for sale cheap... I did "like" the video because I learned the location of the inside trunk release from watching it, and for that, thanks for posting!

No it doesn't and as far as the sounds go it's probably just you suspension stiff form the cold but I'm not an expert so I would still have someone look at it if you're wared

When they fixed the head bolt problem on the northstar it made them grate motors but I also own a 4.9 94 deville and I will agree with you the 4.9 is the better motor in the early cars

If the window sticker isn't handy, GM will give you the build sheet for free, if you provide the vin number. Otherwise, it can usually be inferred based on the options and wheel design by comparing with the brochure for that year.

I have the 2010 luxury III every option available without the high performance engine. If you have 17 inch rims it's the luxury 3 or below.

Skip the DTS and get a 2000-2005 deville instead. These things are the worst because they're soooo close to being Cadillacs but they're really just Toyota Avalons with the crappy smoothed out wreath and crest. I've had both and would absolutely grab another 2000 DeVille, but wouldn't touch another dts with a 10 foot pole. The northstar isn't as bad as what the civic mooks babble about, they've never had anything besides a fartcan altima and it shows. They're easy to rebuild if you give a damn about what you do. I went over my 2000 DeVille and it went from burning coolant to running smooth and stayed that way. I guess if you're into pepsi cans then get a dts, but if you actually want a classic cadillac with a modern feel, get a 2000-2005 deville and be comfortable getting your hands dirty. I did it under my carport. Anyways cool video keep up the stuff

I inherited a 2007 dts, I love the car drives nice but I will say this , no matter how well it was taken care of things will go, in the course of a 2 years I have replaced the power steering pump, water pump, alternator, tire pressure monitors, complete brakes, reservoir cap, plugs, then for the big stuff.. if you have a oil leak this is no easy repair, if your leaking from the valve covers it’s gonna be expensive since 4 of the cylinders you cannot reach from above, most likely it’s the rear engine seal, these babies love to leak from the rear engine seal, if you see white smoke from your exhaust good indication it’s leaking, to make a long story short you have to drop the engine from the transmission and take it out, once it’s out you might as well replace every seal and gasket on the thing , any hose , starter, if it’s in the engine replace it!!! If this is something you can’t do yourself then it’s gonna be a pretty penny a lot of people do not want to put out 5k for a repair, I had a engine pulled out of another dts with only 77k on it, stripped it down and replaced everything on it, seals gaskets and now I’m about 7k into the car but I basically have a new car, everything that could leak or has a seal has been replaced in the engine, etc , 15 year old car needs to be redone with seals and gaskets, it’s maintenance, no seal or gasket lives forever , car loves to go thru water pumps, get a good one pay the xtra 50-100 and don’t get the cheapest one

Parts and aftermarket parks availability is increasingly less. I think the 08+ STS Northstar is a bargain if you can find one that isn't beat. Nobody lubricates anything when it comes to the undercarriage. Oil leaks can be part owners fault for not understanding and follow the rules of a cold engine. I had a 2000 Deville also, and it was a good car. Same with the 97 Eldorado. I'm tempted to grab a Northstar Eldorado but knowing the headbolts were revised in 04-05 it makes more sense to look at post 05 cars. I loved the Deville and couldn't trade it in for a popsicle.

Owned a 2006 DTS performance . Complete lemon! Bought it certified GM and the factory probably spent $30k fixing it. It leaked from the lower seal and you name it. The list of stuff that broke is looong! Ya don’t see these on the road for a reason.

I hate to hear about your luck. I have a 06 and I've completely restored mine. It definitely isn't cheap, but once restored, it gets more looks than anything on the road. The reason why you may not see many is if you live in a rural area or small town like 12,000. Here in the city, they are literally everywhere.

My '08 is absolutely fine. I have done 0 to it other than water pump tensioner pulley. Runs strong and smooth. Every single car ever made is going to have issues.
