Why you SHOULD buy a GLOCK

I am expecting a ton of, "Which pistol should I buy..?" post lockdown. In this video I try to present non-opinionated views on why I recommend Glock, ruling out things like comfort, looks, shoot-ability...etc. If you have any questions please leave them in the comment section below.

Ryan, if you’re getting / expecting to get inundated with “what should I buy”’ questions, maybe make a video on the “total cost of ownership” for a new shooter like you did for red dots. Too often people base their budget on the firearm cost, and don’t consider holsters, training, ammunition. These often add up to the same (or more) than the cost of the firearm.

Ryan, this is an exceptional video offering great insight. The first time, including conversations with dealers, that Glock should be an option as my FA choice. For interest... I'm leaning heavily towards an M&P9, I may reconsider after this video. Glock 19x got some more points now. Thanks.

I appreciate this video. Looking for my next gun. I really don't want a Glock but I'm leaning that way anyway mostly because of the things you have already listed. On top of the things you listed there are things like in an emergency everyone has a glock so you can exchange mags. I also am looking at a 9mm ar and it excepts glock mags... It runs other brands as well but glock is the only one that has a 30 round 9mm mag. As much as I dont really want it I think im probably going to get one. :(

Gilbert Theron have the cz p07 for just under a year ....got about 1000 rounds through mines ....what an amazing gun...robust and low bore axis makes it great to shoot ....just another piece of czechnology!

I bought a po1 gen1 many years ago. I was one of the guys who had a issue with the frame swelling.. So I sold bought g19gen4... Not sorry

Finally a voice of reason through all the fan boys of other makes. Although I am not a fanboy, I do EDC a Glock for those reasons and a few more. For the CZ fanboys on your comment section, granted that CZ is most likely second to Glock in handgun sales in S.A. but speaking from a guy that grew up with CZ’s, good luck finding parts or replacement sights or any kind if selection of holsters. There is a reason why people defend their choice of handgun so aggressively, it is the most personal item they have chosen as this item is with them basically the most amount of time, even more than their spouse and to criticize that translates to a personal attack for most

CZ P10C was made to fit Glock 19 holsters, and parts are way more available than back in the day. P10C is about R2k less than a Gen5 G19 and it has much better ergos, trigger and stock tritium night sights. Its not even a thing anymore, check with your gun dealers, the CZ P10 range is starting to out sell Glocks in SA. Glock is losing ground world wide because other manufacturers are starting to offer more for the same price. I'm not even a CZ fanboy, I really like Glocks but they are overpriced in South Africa by about R3k. Edit: Only place Glocks still have a big advantage is in mag price.

Mr meeseeks haha cool name Meeseeks. Good point I actually love the P10C and very keen to make that my next pistol. I was super excited when it launched and finally came to SA, I had both the G19gen5 and the P10C in hand but decided to go for the Glock instead, at that time they were both retailing for the same price at R11 500 which would’ve made me super negative cause they retail for R7500 now (same as gen3 Glocks) Trigger is unfortunately very subjective so for me the Gen5 trigger is better but the reset is better in the P10C, but yes the trigger is better than previous Glocks. I have heard the holster thing before but I have tried it a couple of times in different Gun Shops but it seems that the only Holsters that do work are Leather and some Kydex, most other Kydex and Moulded Polymer don’t fit the P10C. The sights are back to normal sights now on the latest imports of the P10C, seems like Formalito can’t really tell the Gun Shops why though. Press checking the P10C is impossible and won’t bother most people but still a pain. True about the other manufacturers and I am glad that they are entering the Striker Fired market but still feels like everyone else is playing catch up to try and get some market share.

Great video! I'm looking to buy my first firearm in the near future once the lockdown is over (p.s. I'm from SA). You make very valid comments about buying a glock, however I'm leaning very strongly towards the CZ P10c as I've always been more of a "non-conformist" guy. Apart from accessories, I do know that the P10c fits most glock 19 holsters on the market which is a huge selling point for me! As for the aftersales support and parts for CZ pistols in SA, do you have any comments or experience? I know most major gun shops in SA stock CZ so its not too difficult to find... Would appreciate any comments!

So basically just parts availability? LOL. I think you cannot go wrong with Glock or CZ in SA for part availability. And Glock is not a Ferrari, more like a Mk1 Golf. Tons of parts available and a lot needs to happen for it to be better or on par with other firearms. Same cannot be said about a Ferrari. Good luck finding parts for that in SA. LOL! This is the reason I chose NOT to buy a glock, because I think they are very boring and every second person has 1. I like to be different. And most people cannot tell glocks apart from version or gen. Regarding the trainer, I would have to disagree. Any good trainer should be able to diagnose issues regardless of the firearm used. Because it comes down the the same fundamentals. While yes, some people will struggle to shoot glocks and some will shoot glocks better than other firearms, but that is training related, like you said.

You cant go wrong with Glock or CZ in SA and for the money the CZ is cheaper and comes stock with things you have to still do to a glock. I really like Glocks but Im I cant justify paying that for a toyota corrola

@Philip Freeman Theres nothing wrong with Glocks, besides the sights, I honestly don;t know why they dont come out the factory with night sight like the 19X? My biggest problem is the price in SA just because they are popular. They are maybe R2k more expensive than they should be. Other than that its a fine pistol. For me the G19 is one of my fav striker guns to carry every day, there are just a few things that the CZ P10C does better. At the end of the day it comes down to what you are happy to trust your life with. The rest of the things you can live with

CZ is fast catching up with Glock in SA. www.jizni.co.za/ has all the parts and accessories you need for whatever CZ model you need. They do the Cajun gunworks stuff as well. Only place I can see that Glock clearly beets CZ is in the price of mags. Otherwise CZ's are better in most areas. Edit: The CZ P10C was made to fit into Glock holsters, plus it comes stock with much better ergos, trigger and can get it stock with tritium night sights. On the Glock to get the same or similar trigger you'll need to get an Apex or ZEV which will set you back about R3.5k. Trijicon night sights gonna set you back another R3k. A stock standard G19 gen 5 gonna set you back around R10k. All in with gun smithing you're conservatively looking at around R18-19k. Thats excluding amo, competency, safe and licensing etc. Thats a hang of alot of money for the average person to drop at once. When I got my first pistol I had to weigh it up as well and I couldn't justify spending that on something I was gonna modify anyway. At the end I decided I preferred DA/SA over Striker for appendix carry so the Glock was out either way. My point is that in SA Glocks are overpriced because they are popular when you can get a MUCH better gun in the P10C for cheaper and it fits Glock holsters.

Love the glock 19, its just a tad big for edc in my opinion. The cz p10s seems to hit the sweet spot between a g19 and g26 size wise. The 43x is also a solid choice but im not too excited about that mag capacity.

A freind of mine bought the 43x and bought glock 48 mag. Now it's a 10+1. Carry concealed with normal mag and u have a spare G48 mag when needed

New gun owners small hands small body Glock 42 43 or 43X. Large hands large body Glock 19 or 48. No Glock is any good if you can't hold it.

The versatility of Glock is unmatched in my opinion. G17 mags can fit in a G19 and G26. I have a buddy who has had the same holster within generations but that changed when Glock went to the ambidextrous slide lock/release with the Gen 5s. Now for the newer versions of Glock like the 43 series. I don’t know the versatility of those. 19x can only use 19x mags. Glock is a battle weapon that you may loose or damage. I would use my Sig 226 Extreme as a last resort.

I love the Glock 19, but I just liked the M&P Compact 2.0 just a little more. So that is my main EDC. When I'm going more minimal, it's the M&P Shield 2.0. But Glocks are the standard. If not for Glock being 30 years ahead of the game, I wouldn't have M&Ps.
