Hey! Just got it as my first car too, luckily Insurance isn't murdering since we're doing business with a family friend, the First thing I noticed is how much gas it chugs, it's super quick (coming from a guy who's first driving experience for about a year was a 4 cylinder SUV) but if you're decently mature You can probably handle it! My guess if my family friend wasn't our insurance provider it'll probably be a bit since it's a 2 door 6 cylinder.

Great car, I have a 1999 328ci, genuine 20k miles when I bought it, runs like a dream, like new. Only issues, trim around door coming away, but easily fixed, and some plastic bits a bit brittle. Love it, I have done 9000 miles in it in less than a year, runs like new

Got a E46 320i Pre facelift mixed with the new 2.2l engine as my first car, runs so smooth. 1700 bucks and 170hp straight six which sounds phenomenal. No problems with it except some coolant leaks and bit of rust. love it

I have a 328i bought from an elderly lady ..full service history from dealer, drives like a new car and it's a 1999 model... I've done few mods tinted rear windows , put a better headunit and speakers, changed the rims to the staggered ones 18 inch. Mileage is just over 42,000... car is magnificent on motorways very comfortable drives like a dream....head turner...

I bought a 2001 325 CI a few years back, only drive it in the summer and never when it’s raining… first bc it leaks in the trunk the mechanic can’t figure it out, second bc I have to wash it up again. Amazing car!!!, smooth ride and starts purring as soon as I take it out of storage. Last year was a bad year, both kidney grills fell off, the top opened only half way. I went on KZbin for help to fix the roof but I think I’ll have to take it to a mechanic as I think it is the electronics. I love your channel. Keep it up. thanks.

E46 are great cars and surely they are becoming rare as you have mentioned. Interior is simple, classic and useful. I have done a few tweaks like a custom ipad, vortech v3 supercharger, going with an lsd soon. I have also swapped the engine from m54b22 to m54b30, decat, custom map. Soon going doing a custom intercooler and adding more boost. Mine is a coupe pre-facelift with clubsport spec. Recently found your channel and is very useful, trying to start my own channel in 2020 too. All the best mate, have a successful year.

I love the e46 BMW. If you invest in some tools then like 80% of the major repairs with the cooling system, oil gaskets, etc are doable by yourself. There are so many DIY vids on KZbin its amazing! It really makes these cars relatively affordable to own.

I bought my dads (He is 94 years old now ) 325i E46 m sport on a 53 plate.. He drove to Tescos and back for twelve years.. he was offered a grand on it three years ago.. so I had it .. I didn't need it.. BUT its best car I have ever owned. Keeping it stored/sorn now as it has under 70k on the clock.. I also believe the E46s will only go up in value. I have a 2003 325ci great car I would recommend to anyone. I would like to have the 330i and may pick up one eventually. The usually problems that you have pointed out but again get on top of the maintenance, buy quality parts and watch yours and Nathans videos and everything will go well.

The only reason I sold mine 320d with M47 engine is to buy a newer, f31, but this car is a legend! Reliability, style, driving experience. The only bad thing is rust, they didn't do that so well, but other stuff, magnificent👍

I swapped my 05 e46 330xi for a 11 e90 335i earlier this year and honestly, aside from the raw power, the e46 was a much more fun and reliable car. The main reason for me swapping cars was I didn't want to keep putting money into an automatic transmission (got the e46 for a relatively good price in relatively good condition on short notice, if it were anything other than a bmw i would not have settled for that gearbox). To anybody reading this, if you are trying to decide between and e46 and an e90, I would strongly consider the e46, especially if it's a manual. The automatic transmission feels dated and not very responsive in the car. Also keep in mind that a lot of the electronics on the e46 might start to go on you....but that is also the case for the e90.. and the e46 will be less complicated.

Hi Bro, just discovered you channel here in OZ...After owning an E36 1995 model... Bugger me, thought if I just fixed things up on it that it would last... although the engine still sounds great , unfortunately, cooling system has been a real drag needing to replace radiator and thermostat recently...among needing to replace other things on it, like shocks... Yes, I have done my research on the E46's and perhaps its time for me to let this beasty go :( Thanks so much for your advise and honesty... My first bimmer was a 2000 328i sport sedan, then sold that in 2015 and bought a 2004 330ci zhp coupe for 4200 in 2016, now I looked on the 2nd market and there are none at the moment. IM KEEPING MY 330CI!! Love all classic bimmers! Mys just my taste. new are nice but id rather have a classic! I plan on getting a 2004 e46 M3 CSL someday

@@pollet79 Very nice. Mine is 253HP 504Nm, Automatic. Been thinking about selling it because the taxes are ridiculously high here in the Netherlands for diesels. Climate stuff, pure mafia. (short distance from here in Belgium its like 1/10th of what we pay). Anyway I'll probably keep it because I had too much replaced on it to sell it for cheap. It's got pretty much everything. Black interior, leather sport seats, seat heating, 2-din navigation system, M3 steering wheel, OEM M3 Evo wheels. I'm really quite fond of it.

I get 5950€ for my car when I buy a new BMW M2 competition. I want to change to gasoline because I do 12000km/year. From private bidder I get 3000€. For a wrecked E30 they ask 7000€ in Belgium. 🤪🤪

Your E46 330i looks great Dean, & looks clean as well. Which E46 is the best daily driver? M54B30 330i or M52B25 325i? I do prefer the M sport & the manual transmission. Even here in Canada Dean, they’re hard to find in good condition, low kilometres, & well looked after. Don’t get me wrong, the E90 isn’t too bad. I’ve had my E90 330Xi for a year, & I’m thinking about getting the E46 330i M Sport/ZHP 6 spd as my next one. My E90 btw is just an SE. Like you said, the E46’s are still running strong today in 2020.

I just bought an E46 2005 318 CI Se Convertible, Reason ! fuel consumption. Cream leather amazing RR quality interior, only 105k on the clock. What a great car.. Convertible E46 are a great buy. I paid £1840.. and she is a beauty. I was offered by a friend £2500 a week later I said NO CHANCE. When the roof goes down the price go's up.. Buy one not many good one's left.

The E46 can be a very good car. As with any 15+ year old car one has to be prepared to spend some time underneath hunting for and treating rust, pulling off loose seam sealer etc etc. If you keep that up, then for not a lot of money one could have a car that will easily outlast most brand new cars of today.

I think the E46 is easily the best looking 3 series BMW ever made, even a 320 se is really nice car to own, I've had mine 6 years and just love it more and more as the years go by. The new ones are too complicated with harsh, aggressive styling and too big!

They both have needed fair share of maintenance but what cars don’t . I have 265,300 k on one an 190,000 on other both original motor and trans still on original trans fluid ! Great cars love them

Also most people in USA just drive them until they need maintenance and trade them or sell them . Very few people here look after them correctly .

BMW Doctor I do all my own work as well . I don’t know why it comes up as private ? I’ve not had any missed calls from #s I don’t recognize except 1 call today was restricted said (no caller I.d. ) and I never answer those are usually scams here in USA . Or salesman. Lol . Hey, I just bought a 2002 318i E46 automatic. I've noticed that it's leaking oil on my drive way. Would you have any ideas as to what it could be. What should I check first? It's our first BMW, so don't know much about them. It drives like dream thought. I've also noticed that the check engine light has come on. Thanks
