I’m partial to lakes - more predictable and usually warmer (in the summer), at least in Minnesota. No need to worry about tides and currents, only weeds and fish that nibble at toes.

Don't leave for your trip with plans, leave with ideas. When you have plans and something unexpected happens, it can ruin your plans. If you are running with ideas, you just pick what best suits what is happening on that day and roll with it. You'll be much happier taking advantage of opportunities, than you will be dealing with ruined plans.

Living in California, I have been up and down the whole coast of California. If you haven't already, I grew up in Monterey and you should go there and Big Sur. Oh and I am definitely an ocean girl.
