Only reason I have owned 2 KTM two strokes in the last 5 years is because of that magic button. I had one of these Yz's (a 2013) a while back and quite honestly, the power character is very much "old school" in that it jumps on and off the pipe pretty abruptly. Not necessarily a bad thing, but when you're doing 2+ hours in a Hare Scramble, could get tiring. Not to mention, possibly stalling it or dumping it and having to kick it over after you have already been riding for an hour and a half spikes the heart rate up to say the least. Other than that, the powerplant is super solid.

@@ddrowdy2 I’m sure you’ll do your research, but there’s a channel on here called 3 Seas Recreation who happens to be a Beta Dealer. They post videos of customer bikes at time with some issues. Also, prior to 23’ they have clearance issues with the radiators basically hitting the fork tubes when you turn the bars. Love how they still keep it simple with the Carburetor though. Then, there’s that new Fantic 300 which is essentially and hyper-modified YZ250 (shares the same frame and everything). This thing has throttle body injection, electric start and an electronic power valve and of course the SSS KYB fork. Super impressive but I don’t think it’s out to market yet.

If the SX was stawk, I prolly would rather pay half the price for the YZ. The SX tho, no vibration and felt like a magnet was holding it to the ground. Excellent bite in flat turns with the one spring fork leg. I don't get any arm soreness, like the hit I get from my 200SX with the new STIC Super X carb! The YZ250 really needs nothing, but there is a new simple PV product called Hitliss that I'd install along with the big power adder, the Super X.

If your a smaller to medium size rider under say 175lbs, and don't feel as comfortable on 450's yet, a 250cc 2 stroke is a great alternative to the slightly heavier and more expensive 4 stroke 250's. Like they said, be prepared to shift more and let the bike roll a little more into corners. With less engine braking they stay planted on the rear tire, which makes it that much quicker you need to be prepared to get back on the gas in a lower gear. I'm sure even vet riders coming off bigger 4 strokes find themselves scrambling to stay ahead of that cycle of movements when they first ride one. Gotta ride them Ronnie Mac style!

Let me guess, you have a shed full of beat down 25 year old dirt bikes with half the parts broken or missing, that just happen to all be 2 stokes? I know, life's hard sometimes. Well, you keep kicking those tired temperamental plug fouling hoopties. I'm gonna push the electric start button, listen to my brand spanking knew, finely tuned, fuel injected and heavily modified YZ450F pur like a kitten! I'll see you later buddy! Have a nice day, I've gotta get going now.

250 class should include all 250s, four stroke or two strokes.

250 two-strokes are easy to just jump on and ride. My 450 took a bundle of cash to get it where I wanted it. I love it now, but could have a YZ250 and a sweet e-bike for the same $$$.

Can't wait to get mine and throw my leg back over a bike . My Ktm 105 blew up on me when I was 14 and I haven't been able to ride ever since . Like a piece of my soul missing

the 250 2 stroke is the best bike for trails as well.

Why You SHOULD Consider a 250cc TWO-STROKE? because they kick ass! they had it right years ago. 4 strokes just don't have the scare factor

We were a yamaha family bit after the contingency program this past year I think we're going with a new brand they don't call you back or answer emails. It's crazy they want your business but can get no help.

When the zombies come and your battery is dead…….. You’re going to want a bike you can kickstart.

Can't believe they can still sell 2 strokes due to federal emissions?

Everyone’s answer will be different, for me the fun factor is most important, got to test ride at a demo the 24 250 2 stroke 250f and 450f both 4 strokes are more enjoyable to ride for me , super easy and manageable power. The 2 stroke you have to work hard to stay in the power front end was twitchy . Feels like your going faster but your not. The other two felt smooth and faster and safer . Maybe I’m just getting old 🤷♂️ (31)

Same thoughts exactly. The modern day 4 strokes are awesome. Sold my 23 2 stroke for a 23 yz 450 and I bloody love riding it. I also have a 23 ktm 350sxf but the 450 takes the cake over. Awesome machine

Why you should buy a 2 stroke: it go brrrrrr Need I say more? Oh it also go rindididingdingdidingdingdingdiding. And I felt that. But for real, easy to maintain. Lightweight. Stupid powerful. Cheap to rebuild. If you can ride a 2 stroke well, you can ride anything.

The modern 4stroke is a throw away bike ! Because when the engine grenades itself, you need to finance the replacement engine. Moreover, why are the rebuild and maintenance schedules so short ? My chi-com weed trimmer runs balls out three hours every week for multiple months every year for YEARS and never fails ? Are these bikes that delicate ? I mean, cannot these manufacturers build a bike engine that revs like a weed trimmer and actually lasts ?
