Why you should do a RESONATOR DELETE on your Ford Focus ST

I just finished getting the same thing done to my focus ST, I wanted more burble and low octaves without the rasp. I really like it. It’s more subtle then going muffler delete, but it has a nice tasteful tone to it now rather than sound like a sewing machine. Only costed me $110 not too shabby.

Sounds really nice and subtle.. even has some little muted pops going on when revving low. 100% going to do this on mine.

This is a great review. I was on the fence about upgrading my exhaust since it’s been stock for 4 years. A little more oomph like you said 20% increase in volume for $50+ isn’t too bad and would probably hold me over. Still leaning towards Ford Racing Exhaust or FSWerks Stealth Kit. Thanks man.

I'm sure you've realized this by now but for anyone looking to do this, it gets quite a bit louder after about 800 miles. Also drones right at 3k RPM. Still the best exhaust mod on the ST in my opinion.

Seems pretty quiet still after about 4k miles but I can agree it gets a tiny bit louder

@@garage_ninety_nine Have you driven one without the res removed since? I totalled mine that had the resonator cut out and when I bought my new one it was like going from a coyote engine to a camry.

If you want to hear more exhaust noise, I would definitely recommend deleting the sound symposer system. Once i deleted it on my ST, i was definitely able to hear more exhaust noise.

You can just block the sound pipe before it goes into your dash, it's basically a sound chamber. Otherwise the sounds kind of don't mesh. Don't need the kit, and you can easily take it back out if you don't like it. The sound will get even better with time on the res delete!

I have deleted the stock muffler and added HKS muffler on the end. Should i delete my remaining resonater behind the cat to make it more crisp. Ford focus titanium mk3

Might make it more raspy than anything if you remove the resonator.

Still love the mod, no regrets at all. No problems but I did go to a fabricator who has beautiful welding skills. I would definitely look into it however the rs is a completely different animal.

Nope. Doesn't really change any performance or emissions. Just one less noise restriction.

Thats full stock exhaust minus the resonator correct?? Also do you plan on a catted downpipe with this setup? Been trying g to find full stock exhaust but with a catted downpipe mod only

Correct! I plan on keeping the exhaust as is. Catted downpipe with this mod is not a bad way to go. Still no drone as far as I know.

Okay. I did hear one with catted downpipe and the resonator delete finally. It was good but just a bit too loud for me. So may just do a down pipe and call it a day for exhaust. Other option is swap out the stock resonator for a better flowing one just to still suppress some of the sound.

what part you guys call a resonator?If we in europe want better sound we put resonators (whitch is almost straight pipe) in the car, to replace the catalisator. In my Focus , there is catalisator and the end muffler silencer , no resonator...

On our cars we have catalytic converters towards the front, resonators on the mid section, and mufflers at the rear. Very restrictive from the factory in the states.
