Focus RS Exhaust VS. Focus ST Exhaust

Here is what a stock Focus RS sounds like along side my 2016 Focus ST with the Ford Performance Sport Exhaust. Which one do you prefer?

The RS was actually fairly quiet on the initial startup. Btw, that Stealth Grey w/ the black wheels is so nice!

The pops from the RS exhaust are cool but the ST sounds better IMO. It has a deeper, fuller tone.

I own one too with a Rosch catback. It has the same rumble as the Ford exhaust but the Rosch goes deeper with a lower burble to it. If there's a drawback to the stock RS exhaust, it's that "popcorn" crackle that I really don't like. It sounds like something you would hear on a modified Civic.

I also like the pops and cracks of the RS, but I love the idle and rev noise of my Roush Exhaust

RS for sure. its just so beautiful and natural. The ST is perfect too but like you said its AM. i will def go ford when i do my exhaust however, sounds beaut.

Borla/Ford Performance by far has the best exhaust note of all the systems for the ST. RS sounds great stock, but to me it lacks a bit of character.

I have the Borla catback exhaust on my 2016 ST3 and love it! Since Borla makes the Ford performance exhaust as well I decided to go with the one I could get cheaper. Paid $625 for Borla on sale

They both sound great but I like the ST even with the exhaust upgrade from Ford. It has a nice deep mellow sound that doesn't scream "HEY LOOK AT ME!" Not saying the RS has that type of exhaust but its not as deep sounding as the ST.

I’ve had the ST3 with the Ford performance exhaust and it sounds awesome especially compared to stock. The exhaust on the RS sounds good for stick obviously the aftermarket world helps it a lot like the mountune cat back for example. The valve in the stock exhaust opens when you switch to sport mode there is no difference in the other settings

Only thing I don't care for on the ST exhaust, is the placement. Not a fan of the middle duals... Wish it was set up like the RS's, a single exhaust would look sick

As a focus st owner and a former 8thgen Civic SI owner, the RS sounds better personally. The ST sounds too refined where the RS sounds more like classic performance 4 cylinder roots, where it sounds more gritty

Unrelated question: do you have to use premium fuel in the ST with the Ford Performance tune? I run regular in my 2014 ST because it works fine and the owners manual says the difference between premium and regular is only about 11 horsepower with no difference in torque. Automatic fuel cost savings of about 30% without sacrificing much at all.

The St... Ford Performance makes too much cabin noise at 80mph +especially at WOT. I have that exhaust and am adding back the front muffler to the system.

A lot of people depress the brake pedal when starting vehicles. So that is probably what you are seeing
