I don’t dress “modestly,” but I don’t necessarily dress “immodestly” either. I simply wear what makes ME feel the most comfortable and confident. Same thing if you wanna go to the store with a dress and high heel boots. As long as you’re comfortable with what you’re wearing, knock yourself out. (Before people come after me, yes there are exceptions. Like, don’t wear pajamas or a bikini to a job interview, I’m just saying that clothing is a way to express oneself, and women should not be forced to wear unrevealing clothes so men are “able to focus”) edit: corrected an adjective

Not to mention that all creatures with working eyes are visual creatures and that she literally and immediately directly contradicts herself to claim men aren’t emotional creatures. If simply what they see is making them emotional (and I highly recommend she and males of her mindset look up “emotion”) then actually men _are_ the more emotional beings and being emotional is usually fine but being so emotional that you become dangerous or can’t handle existing next to fellow humans because of their body shapes, then you’re definitely the problem and need to get your emotions in check. Our species was not designed for the males to lose their shit over female bodies. Naked is our most natural state afterall.

In my culture it’s very different.... it’s just so odd to see her preach the moral goodness of women covering up as if that’s not just her culture’s beliefs and actually a moral statement to something? Women in my grandparents country often wore nothing but “skirts” in English. We don’t go about preaching how they need to cover up or risk being mistreated by male attention... us men simply... don’t harass and objectify life givers??? It’s not hard at all. @wolfofthewest80192 жыл бұрын
Men say things like that all the time. It's completely uncontroversial. This is the root of all sexism: masculine hyperagency and feminine hypoagency. If you suggest that a man will be judged based on how he dresses and presents himself, absolutely no one will bat an eye. Men are always held responsible for how other people treat them. Women, on the other hand, are treated as stupid, brainless children who can't be held responsible for their choices and actions. Which often means women can't be judged for their choices and actions. Thus if you say something like "Of course no one respects you, you dress like an immature slob." to a man, everyone agrees that's fair. But if you say "Of course no one respects you, you dress like an immature slut." to a woman, morons and idiots start screaming how that's sexist against women because how dare you assert that women aren't brainless morons who are incapable of understanding that others judge them based on how they dress.

I don’t like the fact this argument not only degrades women as just “objects” but also degrades men as being carnal/animalistic creatures who can’t possibly control themselves if a woman decides to dress a little too “immodestly”. This is not the case. There are bad people and good people in the world. The solution is not to make things less “tempting” to a bad man (because this solution takes away women’s rights), it is to instead change the education system to teach boys in school to respect a woman and not to see her as just an object, as well as following through with the appropriate repercussions. Your argument places so much on emphasis on the validation from men, as if women need this to be valuable? If all a man can think about at a date is his date’s v-cut shirt, then it is on the man for being unable to look past his own primal urges to realize there is a individual human being before him. Not the woman. You made another point about women of an older age still dressing “immodestly” and asked the question ”At the age 50, would your rather be praised for your body or family?” First of all, why not both? Beauty can be expressed no matter how much clothes you wear! Do you look at a Greek statue and immediately sexualize it, or do you think to yourself “Wow, the artist perfectly captured the natural beauty of that human!”. If you think the former, then is it not your own mind that’s at fault or the sculptor? And why should women no longer dress how they wish at 50? They can love their bodies too! They are still human, no matter what age they turn, and expression doesn’t just vanish once you get into your 30s. I don’t know your story or how you’ve been influenced to think this way, so I’m not going to criticize you personally. However, please don’t try to push damaging messages to impressionable young girls that their bodies are inherently sexual, and they cannot be beautiful if a man looks at them a certain way. Have a good day 😊

Joanna Boll The title is literally called "Why YOU Should Dress Modestly" She's literally telling people how they need to dress, saying it's wrong for them to dress any other way, and even going as far as saying they look like "trash" if they don't dress the way she likes. I get her point about certain people being idiots who only care for tits and ass, but it's not her decision to make for others. I'm sure anyone who shows a little skin knows exactly what they're signing up for when going out in public, and has the courage to do so anyway despite those risks because that's what THEY like, not what they think others will like. If a person isn't completely naked or making public porn, then I don't see the issue. The way another person dresses isn't my problem to deal with, because to me, I'm the only person that matters. People need to stop focusing on how others live their lives and stay in their own lane. I dress basically as a dude with my oversized t-shirts, jackets and hoodies, and jeans and you don't see me getting peeved when a girl walks by in a crop top and booty shorts. I'll just think to myself how confident she is being in her own skin, not worrying about what those around her might think. And I respect that so much because honestly who gives af what others think? They can shove their opinions up their ass for all I care. This girl's opinion was just not needed, and outright disrespectful. I have absolutely no idea why this is showing up in everyone's recommended, but I'd say a majority of viewers can agree that she just needs to shut her pie hole according the the like/dislike ratio. If she cares so much about what others think of her, she could take the hint and take the video down. Or at least make an apology, because dear lord, she was insulting people left and right throughout this entire video who did not deserve those attacks.

Do you know the word "patriarchy"?
@amukbir8777 Жыл бұрын
@@flexibleskedulePatriarchy is the state of human society. Without it you wouldnt have food in your table and without it you wouldnt even be able to have sex with whoever you want without getting pregant. It has its downsides for women and men tho. For women it comes oversexualisation. Since you are the natural selectors, males interact with you because of sexual attention. This creates issues(rape,creeps and oversexualisation) For men it comes higher competition for mates,to the point where most of them will either be incompetent and die alone or either have to actively become far better than the mate they want to atract. Also this highly hierarchycal competence comes with more agressive and dangerous actions. So yes, technically they are less apreciatted,more likely to die and less likely to feel wanted. I always hear the "patriarchy" thing but if I am being honest no man or woman created it,its subconsequence of human nature so It cant really be changed. The invisible hierarchy in males is created by women by sexual selection of the "strongest" but it isnt women who created it,its the environment for humans to continute to exist,women MUST be selective thats why that hierarchy exists (it wasnt intentional) The notions of what society is will alwaus be based on and driven by biological motivation. Specially when it comes to surviving. Also dont blame the guys who sexualise you in their minds,a healthy human male with healthy dopamine receptors gets a dopamine rush when he sees naked woman that he finds attractive and most men find most women somewhat attractive. Your body objevtively isnt like the male body,due to sexual dimorphism so you cannot function logically with the same rules if you want efficiency. Patriarchy is not a system,it is the human society's evironment and driven by gender interactions. And no,nowadays in western world this environment is not trying to dominate women. People are fighting an enemy that doesnt exist instead of solving a problem breaking it down logically

Respect, some people claim that men will sexualize you no matter what and this can be true, but the difference between dressing modestly and provocatively is the difference between having a do not trespass sign and having a welcome to all sign. Sure, some people will trespass no matter what, but if you say welcome to all then otherwise normal people who would normally not step into your house will trample all over it and feel justified. If you can’t distinguish between the effects of provocative dress and modest dress and you just pretend it’s the same because terrible people exist in the world, then you basically are a child who has no idea what surviving actually looks like. Surviving in a truly dangerous world means reducing risk of terrible stuff, you can’t escape it entirely. If you think men can escape the terrible stuff think again, we are always assessing how to avoid bad things happening to us. The world is dangerous, grow up, and realize that all we can do is our best to reduce our chances of terrible stuff, the rest is chance.

Of course there’s certain places were there’s dressing etiquette. People know this. The way you’re talking is acting as if your clothes justify being sexually harassed. When we should teach EVERYBODY. From a young age that consent is needed for those kind of remarks. No form of sexual harassment is okay, so stop trying to justify one form of sexual harassment with sexual harassment. If I decide I want to wear something I feel comfortable enough wearing, whether it is revealing, or completely covering me. I can still get sexually harassed or assaulted. Instead of blaming it on clothing blame it on the education system that failed to teach our students about the importance in consent. If you remark something and the person looks uncomfortable or you two aren’t at that level of flirting whatsoever then don’t do it. It’s so easy. Teach all students to respect each other’s boundaries and consent. If there is no level of consent don’t do it. Especially if somebody tells you to stop or they look uncomfortable.

Why are you saying how it’s about yourself, then saying that men are going to be distracted. You’re sexualizing a woman by saying that, saying that women are objects, and that you need to be careful how your body appears. Isn’t that self-contradicting? And why are you downgrading men to “be wired to think about one thing” when a woman dressed a certain way. Why can’t a woman be beautiful in whatever she wears. If a man can only thinks about her curves, that’s his issue, not the woman’s. And you can say “ well if she didn’t dress provocatively, he wouldn’t think that.” Well why is about the man?
