I’m just looking into getting into balls but this video is huge. I am a corn snake guy and just got back into them. Bought a hatchling corn that was supposed a couple months old from a huge reputable breeder. I got 4 other snakes from a small breeder and they all showed up the same day. The big breeds snake looked like it never ate out the egg. The small breeders snakes were literally 3 times the size and healthy looking. The big breeders snakes died a week later. I guarantee that snake never ate! I got to looking and that breeder openly advertises year old snakes on day old pinkies! Great video and great information!

Definitely know what you mean. Once was about to buy a 1 year old snake from a big "reputable" breeder and thought to ask for an updated weight. The breeder said 250 grams was accurate. Asked about a few other yearlings and all around the same weight. Never bought from that breeder ever again.

Great vid. I agree. I never ship Any unless they are atleast 100 grams. I know the pair of lightning pieds I got from you are some of my best eaters. I did have a clutch of small eggs this year and they were all 35 to 45 grams but they all eat now and are 100 or more all except one the runt. She was 30 grams out the egg. All my other clutches 60 to 80 grams easy. Good info!

hatchlings that are a month or so old and taken a few meals should weigh 75-100 grams.

Mine just turned a year old yesterday and is about 160g... I learned after I brought her home from an expo what "maintenance feeding" is and I am pretty sure that's what her breeder was doing before I got her.

I find it depends on the breeder as well. Snakes I've gotten from bigger breeders are generally a bit smaller IDK if the feeding schedule or size is smaller or what. Holdbacks that get listed end up being alot bigger 😂

Thank you! I was told my female was a great eater. Which she is but was 350g at 10 months uhg. She's gotten big fast though on a weekly nice size rat

Not IMO. Ball pythons typically start eating adult mice in their 1st handful of meals. Even if you never take them off of adult mice they should be well over 350g at 10 mo
