I love this video so much. I just wish more people were aware of the puppy farms, backyard breeders and unethical ways puppies are produced. We said goodbye to our precious rescue Pom earlier this year, she was 15yo and the love of my life. Now we are wanting to welcome another Pom into our family and are struggling to find a Pom that is ethical and affordable. I fear COVID has dramatically increased the prices of puppies and in some cases backyard breeders are charging more than a registered breeder and people are paying it. Cross breeds have now become highly sought after, whereas years ago a cross breed was a ‘mutt’ or ‘bitzer’ and now they’re being sold as ‘designer dogs’. It saddens me that prices have gotten so high that our kids are denied to the opportunity to have a dog in their home. I 100% support getting a rescue, in saying that though we are competing against all other families in the country wanting to rescue too and families with kids or existing pets aren’t favoured as much as a single person or couple with no kids or existing pets. It’s a tough process searching for rescues say in snd day out to continually miss out on the application. 😢

There are bad breeders and scammers everywhere. At home and abroad. There are good breeders overseas too, but you DO have to vet them out and do your homework. I’m working with one right now and she’s amazing and truly cares for her dogs.

I had a rescue Pomeranian who just passed of old age June 12,2020 at the age of 15. I’m from the United States and I’m adopting a puppy from a family breeder.. I love Pomeranians and the mistreatment of them makes me so sad

Thank you so much for this video, Katie. It's so important that we, as pet owners, keep ourselves educated and up-to-date, even after we have our animals. I'm so glad to hear about England's new regulations!👏♥️

This is such an important video. People need to know that these “designer” or “teacup” dogs are riddled with genetic defects to make them that way. I own two JRTs both from the same litter and they were purchased from one of my parents neighbours who’d decided to breed their two JRT pets just once. I saw them literally a week after they’d been born with their mum and dad and brother and sisters. Given the situation I was lucky to go back many times before they were finally 8 weeks old and they could come home. 11 years on and I still have two very happy and healthy dogs. I agree that the influencers involved should have done more before getting into bed with Elena. Hopefully the fact that it’s happened and in connection to two very popular public figures might see some positive action against Elena. Anyhow, rant over! Thank you for another well presented and articulate video. Also on a lighter note, your hair is absolute goals. 😍

You’re so right. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the matter! I read JRT’s as Jack Russel Terrier’s - correct me if I’m wrong! So lucky to have been there since the day they were born! We decided to have puppies from our two spaniels and kept a puppy from each litter. Most incredible experience ever helping the mum’s birth the babies and the whole learning process that comes with bringing life into the world! 100% something needs to happen. A friend of mine mentioned to me that the way she is able to get around Lucy’s law is by importing puppies to Wales (where the law doesn’t stand) then bringing them over to England. No animal lover finds loop holes in laws to protect animals! Thank you so much for your compliment, I always worry my touching it is super distracting 🙈 💗

Great informative video of how careful we need to be whilst looking to buy a Pomeranian. I’ve been looking for quite some weeks now but the more I research and read, it’s opened up a world of such caution to me, people breeding and asking a ridiculous amount of money, and others that don’t look to be trusted, and can’t seem to find any that look reliable in the first instance. I think it’s going to be a while before finding a Pom to join our family but that’s ok because need to wait until we find the right one.

You’re definitely doing the right thing by searching and searching. The work you put in now, will save you and your family so much heartache when you finally get a healthy, happy little one 💗

You seem like a genuinely lovely woman and it’s great that you are sharing this information, however the timing of this just feels like you are trying to capitalise on the sadness that Molly and Tommy are currently feeling.
@MrsKatieHeath4 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your comment, and capitalising on someone’s sadness is not my intention at all. I totally sympathise with them, but my worry is that a lot of people have been following this woman (Elena) recently after all the celebrity promotion, looking to buy Pomeranians from her. My audience is predominantly Pomeranian owners and those looking to introduce them into their lives. I have a duty of care to this audience to provide information and guidance and NOT addressing it, would have been an oversight on my part. I purposefully didn’t use any graphics of Molly and Tommy, only using tags, that people that wanted to do further research could find. Yes, I used Tommy and Molly as examples, but unfortunately this isn’t an isolated incident and happens all too frequently. The aim of this video is to prevent anyone else (especially my audience) from experiencing the heartache that they are currently going through. I hope that makes sense and you understand, from my side, why I couldn’t stay silent 💗

I got a Pomeranian last week and she’s perfect fully british Pomeranian and the breeder says that all russian Poms have a skull problem and they are a massive risk just playing with them could kill them because their brains are exposed

I bought my Pomeranian from a random lady on the internet. For me it was pure desperation because I searched shelters and online for weeks and couldn't find a dog. Every time I did find a dog it would immediately be bought by someone else because the market for dogs here is so scarce. It was risky and my puppy came with fleas and he was super skinny. Within 2 weeks the fleas were gone and he went from 2 to almost 3 pounds. I understand why people make risky decisions buying puppies because it can be so hard to find one sometimes that you get desperate
