I am just waiting on a few things and until I get them there's not much I can do but wait! I have a feeling there will be some late nights coming over the next few days, but once its done and we have Drogo back it will all be worth it! As always its about follow my dreams and vision for the future! I encourage you guys to do the same! Its not always easy, but its so worth it! Sending you all positive energy today and wishing your dreams come true! I love each of you for all the support you show my family! Without you guys I don't know where I would be! Thank you! Brian

This should be a manual everyone must see before they are ever allowed to purchase any reptile or animal for that matter! Great information Brian. What a well needed video... I really wish big chain stores would take the time to talk people out of buying pets they can't care for rather than go for the money. One local store was selling small Chameleons... I asked questions about their care and the employee had no clue... shame that the poor creatures were bound for almost certain death due to improper care. A pet's life depends on you... you have to be willing to make it the best it can be.....

I hope you're feeling better today too. You looked like you were carrying a lot of stress during the podcast yesterday. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that each day has 24 hours and there's plenty of time to do what you need to do. You're doing great and you have an awesome support system. This was a video much needed! Because there’s definitely people out there that don’t need reptiles. I was rehomed a ball python as a rescue and the husbandry was horrible. The snake had scars from live mice being left in the cage, severely underweight and much more. There’s no ways someone wouldn’t notice these obvious issues.

Good morning, Brian! This video is so important! I've been in pet shops multiple times picking up things for my own reptiles, and heard a parent and kid choose a pet, clearly without having done research prior. And I actually love the research phase! I think it's so interesting to learn about these animals, and it makes me so much more exciting about getting them if they sound right for me.
@jennarider62854 жыл бұрын
I totally agree do your research and every few months (after getting the animal) do some more research because things might change or get updated. I am always looking to improve the ways I take care of my animals. This research should be for EVERY animal no matter what it is because so many people buy pets without thinking of what it takes to take care of that pet. They think that they are cute or they will make me look good or to get views on the internet, but after they get the pet they realize that they cant take care of it so they get rid of it (sell it, release it into the wild/abandon it, or even abuse it till the pet eventually dies). Pets are EXPENSIVE, to take care of (enclosure, Food/treats, toys, supplies, supplements …) and it is always better for the pet if you realize that you aren't able to take care of the pet and find it a proper home that knows how to take care of it and make sure that the animal is living it's best life than for the animal to suffer and/or get released into the wild where it doesn't belong and won't know how to take care of itself. PLEASE, ALWAYS DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE GETTING ANY ANIMAL.

Thank you so so much for making this video. I see so many people that get an animal and stick it in a tank or a cage and forget about it. It’s so sad to me. I love this video because it really outlines why reptiles are more than just a fancy display piece. I hope someone sees this video and thinks twice before getting a reptile for themselves/their child. I hope it gives them pause to really consider if it’s the right decision for them.

I spent three years researching my first reptile (a burm), the different snake breeds (size and temporment), color morphs (very few burm morphs in the late 80s to pick), finding reliable breeders, feeder food suppliers and several backups if one or more don't have the quantity you need, finding local vets that even handle exotics, finding reptile care people or Organizations (if something happened to me and I couldn't care for them anymore) and setting up a seperate budget for the constant care and any emergencies that may come up.

I absolutely agree with you here. I have been keeping reptiles for 6 years now and spent just over a year researching what I wanted as my first animal before I got it. I still have some of the collared lizards that I chose as my first animal. About two months ago learned something new and changed the basking area slightly and saw his activity increase from this change.

I absolutely love the point you made that you should always try to expand your knowledge about keeping reptiles and that there is always more to learn and being stuck in your ways can become toxic. I think this applies to lots of things in life, It is important to always be a student even if you’re the teacher 🤙🏽
@hillbillymike59414 жыл бұрын
The video was awesome loved it. I wish more people would be honest like this. It just breaks my heart to see animals in rehab because their owners didn't take the time to gather the knowledge needed to care for a pet. One example... I went in to a reptile rescues they had a bearded dragon female with no tail i ask about it and was told the former owner cut it off. When asked why he said it was out growing the aquarium so he cut it off and by the time it grew back he would have enough money to get bigger aquarium. I know that was an extreme case but it is the one that I think about when the topic comes up. Again thank you for the video.
@jonflannery89844 жыл бұрын
I just want to share how much I really appreciate this information. I’d add illnesses to the research category. Don’t want to acquire an animal that could endanger other animals already in your collection. Also the expansion of the hobby is a beautiful thing, but responsible growth is important for the safety of both the animals and keepers. Be ready first.
@calvinwon51134 жыл бұрын
Good message! All too often, I'll know people who impulsively purchase reptiles and arachnids without the slightest idea of how to care for them. Especially with baby monitors. It's hard to pass up a cute baby nile or savannah monitor that's only $40. But the cost of keeping them long term could add up to thousands.
@daxvanallen25684 жыл бұрын
I completely agree! Before I got my bearded dragon Ares I researched for five or six hours every day for a month! I absolutely love her and she is completely worth all the research and effort!

I 💯 agree. I have horrible insomnia and cleaning/socializing my reptile collection was the best therapy. No one to bother me and taking out the snakes, checking them out, putting them around my neck (if the tub wasn’t too dirty) and spot cleaning. It really helped. People need to know with snakes that every day, at the very least, you need to be taking a look...for more advanced snakes, you need to check temp/humidity. It’s ok, tho...it means you get to have them in your life.
@kingscollage304 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you did this video! I am 100% with you! Regardless of the animal people need to research every aspect of the care of it before getting the animal itself! And even if it takes longer you need to have everything before the animal! Enclosure set up ready to live in, food supply on hand and if its exotic you need to have a food source readily available etc before you even shop for the animal! Thats why I go visit places like the reptarium. Then I get to interact with them without harming them.

Knowing im responsible for their quality of life makes me want to do the work, and also go above and beyond to make their lives and homes even more enriching. The passion should be in the care as much as it is for the admiration of the animal itself. They depend on us ❤️ just having that relationship is beautiful and well worth the work

Very true about reptiles and any pet. Some people just love the look of a breed of dog but it can be totally opposite to how you live.
