Definitely a good plug for your Japanese lessons 😂 you’re hilarious man. You have a great sense of humor! I’m finally taking Japanese seriously after 4 years of on and off studying. I’m hoping to move to Japan in the far future so I hope I’m fluent by then.

When my weeb mind was younger, ofc I was thinking that it would be so cool being in Japan and live there. Now that I'm older tho...my mental health wouldn't probably handle it. I have a dream off visiting Japan and finally experience the country that I've been fan of ever since I was a kid. Then I don't have to worry way too many things. I've heard someone commenting that Japan is fun when you are a tourist, but miserable if you live there (as a foreigner). Idk is it true but what I'm hearing online, people are now more critical about it, before it felt like these influencers moving to Japan were sugar coating everything and didn't tell the down sides of things.

Thanks for commenting this, you mentioned some good points! I also hear often that Japan is good to visit as a tourist, but actually living and working here is a completely different story, especially for foreigners. But as a Japanese person who has lived in many other countries, I now say I think Japan is the best place to live compared to the places I was in, but of course this is my home country. Stay tuned and hopefully I can share more about true life in Japan!

@@taiseikikuta haha, got your videos as recommended so curiosity won me over lol. I'm kinda same with my own country (Finland) that it's the best place to live. Obviously we have many issues too and I should take more notice of it, tho worrying myself too much isn't good for me :") I'm not able to visit Japan in the near future, so I will watch Japanese life/travel videos instead, it makes me excited and give more ideas what to do etc when the opportunity finally arrives ^^ I will stay tuned!

honestly its just like any other place, i live here on a student visa. 99% of the people who criticize living here have not even been to the country, they all have the same typical 1970's view on the country. its 2024 and its better than most of europe and definitely better than north america,

I wanna point out that on the country side, I’ve seen pretty big houses for very cheap, but it is on the countryside so most people wouldn’t like that becuz they like the city more. But for the people that love the countryside, it would be amazing.

Moving to a country without learning the language is crazy. Ironically at the end you mention international students and other foreigners who all can speak English. How do you expect someone's Japanese to improve if you're always speaking English with them?

Ah, I just noticed something...your English: you said you were going to college in the UK, and yet you seem to speak in an American English. were you living in North America at some point? 😅Speaking of the value of the ¥, when I was born it was still fixed at ¥360 to $1USD. We left Japan for the first time in 1974 when it was still ¥308 to the dollar, and when we returned in 1981, it was free floating at ¥221 to the dollar. by the time Dad retired and we left Japan for America in 1993, it was within spitting distance of ¥100 to the dollar. counting inflation, where when I was born a box of Kleenex was a dime and by 1993 it was about 89 cents per box, it makes it that much harder to make ends meet unless you get regular pay raises or increases in cost of living allowance (COLA). still, being that Dad was paid in USD, when I was a kid I always had nice clothes (my mom and aunt got me a real silk kimono at 伊勢丹 for 七五三), whereas by the time I was in college there were all sorts of money problems. while the Japanese economy seemed to get stronger and stronger until the Bubble burst, I felt like our family was going from being one of the elite tenants living in a judge's house in 石神井 to one of the "poor Americans" who could only afford to live in Japan at the behest of the US government 😓

Your theory about growing up in another country affecting your appearance isn't as farfetched as you may think. Different cultures have different diets and thus different nutrition, and nutrition can affect your appearance. It can have a rather large impact on certain things such as your teeth and jaw. You do seem to have nice straight teeth which is less common in Japan. I imagine the main reason is probably your mannerisms. Your subtle actions probably don't indicate a Japanese native and humans are actually very good at picking up on this.
@taiseikikuta
@taiseikikuta Ай бұрын
Super interesting, thanks for this! I never really thought about nutrition and diet potentially affecting appearance, but it makes sense!! And your point on mannerisms I definitely agree with - growing up in an international society comes with its various “side effects”, which I take positively of course 👍
