Not a single bird builds it’s nest on this tree, since the tree branches don’t provide any protection to birds nest from sunlight or rain. Bangalore has abundance of this tree, planted by Britishers for aesthetic look, but this tree doesn’t give any fruit. Even though tree bears lot of good looking Flowers, I have never seen any Bees or butterflies collecting nectar from its flowers. It means this tree is of use to any animal or birds or insects. Also tree branches are not sturdy and cannot be used for any purpose (making furniture or plywood)after it falls down due to heavy wind nd rain. This tree is not a native of Indian subcontinent, and was brought to India by Britishers. This tree is not good for Local ecosystem. People must always plant Locally available native plants nd trees, with mix of flower bearing, fruit bearing, hard wood, trees.

Gulmohar trees are waste, I have a huge approximately 60 years old Gulmohar tree, they have very tiny leaves, they go everywhere, especially when you park the car, they are difficult to clean up also. I think trees with big leaves should be planted like Terminalia Catappa ( false almond plant) or teak tree etc. I will have my Gulmohar tree chopped off soon enough, I will plant a teak tree or Terminalia Catappa in it's place.
