Honestly listening to these videos during the night shift at a hospital is such a mood. It's like Halloween all year round

9:44 The arhitectural style is called ,,Romanic" and it is inspired by the old Byzantyne churches, with some segnificant elements such as small windows, cross shapes, they are not very tall and they are some kind of fortifications, this measure was took in the XIXth century, when the Ottoman raids were a usually thing and they needed to protect them somehow. This can be seen very well in Transilvania, where the fortified churches are something special

At least in Transylvania the fortifications are much older than the XIX. century, the first were probably built after the first Mongol invasion in the XIII. century (not sure if any of those survived). I think the First Council of Lyon advised people to protect themselves with walls, and it was implemented in the Kingdom of Hungary. But the most famous ones, especially by the German speaking population, were built during the constant wars with the Ottomans, Habsburgs, infighting and a gazillion shifting alliances, peasant rebellions, etc. They now form a UNESCO World Heritage Site: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villages_with_fortified_churches_in_Transylvania

Am fost în Maramureș la Cimitirul Vesel și pot confirma că locul unde se petrece jocul seamănă cu peisajele din Maramureș. 🩵👍

Are there any other romanian horror games or video games in general? I've only heard of this one so far, plus Space Mercs.

I am trying to find a few more, but all I got so far are Black the Fall, Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure, Door Kickers and NERF Legends.

@@AnnaLeWild Salut!

14:02 The second Balkan War (1913-1914), ot ,,the war between allies" was a conflict between Grece, Serbia, Romania, Austro-Hungary(with supplies), the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. After the First Balkan War, Bulgaria wanted more land so with Austro-Hungarian support attacked it's neighbours, even Romania, this fact will contribute to the entry of Romania in WW1 on the Entente side. So, Bulgaria wanted Dobrogea back and attacked Romania, king Carol I attacked Bulgaria and reached Sofia, and took as war reparations 2 counties from Bulgaria, Durustor and Caliacra. But they were lost in 1940 becouse a sad unsuccesful painter invaded Poland...

15:54 And was a law, if you don't have at least 1 kid, you need to pay a tax, called ,,Taxa de celibatar"-bachelor tax in english
@AnnaLeWild2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've read about it. It was really messed up.

Ahh good to hear the real name of the tax! I only heard about it as PIP, standing for, slightly explicitly, "illegal carry of a penis" 😊 (pls don't ban me youtube)

Gray Dawn is fucking boring. I played it once at my sisters house and beaten it in like 2-3 hours. Its just a walking simulator where you get exposed to some *interesting* horror sequences where you grab stuff and put that so-called thing into other things to progress and thats about it. Soundtrack is literally bought music that you can tell that has been bought due to their overuse in some other media (i.e. youtube videos), but some of those tracks coupled with the scenery in the heaven levels does play nice together to create a nice little feeling of innocence about to be lost, which by that you can tell that the devs where picking their music carefully. Voice acting is pretty good (from the english ones) and not so good (from the romanian ones, where they are not even acting that much, just talking regularly, almost). The story is pretty decent for MY tastes, having the protagonist pay for the crimes he did in this whole journey while solving puzzles and shit, pretty good, with endings that are pretty open for interpretation. But even with all of its flaws, I'm still ok with this game existing because it does represent the romanian culture of the past in a very great way while also delivering those aforementioned *interesting* scenes and I will be eternally sad about this game's kickstarter campaign not accumulating any money because it really had potential to be even more great. I am also a bit worried about the devs, because we have not heard anything about them for a while

Great review! I agree that the gameplay is pretty boring, but the visuals and references to Romanian culture are beautiful. I hope the devs will make another game with a similar setting.
