I'm guessing the thing with the voice acting not getting extra dub lines like Reverie was due to NISA prioritizing getting Daybreak 2 out quicker what with the surprise early 2025 release date.
@CommRio4 ай бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. It would also be very nice if once this mad dash to catch up is done they can go back and do some additional voiced lines

I laughed at loud at the "WHERE ARE MY ROYALTIES?" when I played Reverie. Thanks for including it at a very relevant part of the video 👍 Also, one note of correction -- if you press a button during battle (L2 on PS4), you can see the extended turn order, unfortunately not cast times but everything else. Not sure what the key is for PC but it should be in one of the help tutorials
@CommRio4 ай бұрын
I’ll have to check in on that, but it still strikes me as odd that they wouldn’t just have that information available instead hiding it in another menu. Yes I will always continue to use that scene from Nadia whenever I can. It’s a classic
@Ronjonbify4 ай бұрын
@@CommRio This info was given in one of the very first tutorials, which you can review from the notebook at Help -> Controls - Command Battle -> Command Battle (which is the first entry). Not hidden at all
@CommRio4 ай бұрын
@@Ronjonbify When I say hidden I mean you have to hit a button to see the information in battle instead of just seeing it on screen all the time. Wouldn't be a big deal if it was not taking away information the games had previously.
@Ronjonbify4 ай бұрын
@@CommRio Not sure how / whether to respond to this honestly. The only info the game takes away is when arts go off, to view extended turn info you just push a button, and as discussed, the game tells you which button to push in one of the very first tutorials. Also, WRT to your video, from 15:43-15:54 you discuss the "loss of longer term information" while the extended turn order is literally displayed on screen

I don't usually enjoy team building and grinding, but Daybreak and Shard Skills are an exception. I don't know how to differentiate it, but the balance between choosing what I could do with my party members and having certain skills they more naturally receive was fun to experiment with The world-building itself is exceptionally great as well, Calvard is super interesting and every place feels (believably) unique. My favorite part of each chapter was talking to all the Edith NPCs, I really enjoyed some of their arcs and sidequests. Shoutout to San in Tyrell, really related to her. I rarely see any games that represent me like that haha And you know, Daybreak is the first attempt at tackling social causes. It of course wasn't perfect, but that makes me even more excited to see how they learn in later games 😎 So yeah, Daybreak's great, can't wait for what comes next!

You can still steal turn bonuses from enemies in Daybreak. It's just much harder to do. In order to steal an enemies turn bonus, you need to stun them. Because of this, it's possible to have a character get a turn with more than one turn bonus.

I played the game back in 2022 with a fan patch and loved it, though after replaying it in English i honestly loved it even more that i did a NG+ playthrough to finish off achievements (only two more to go on Steam at least) but overall i think this game is a 8.5 or 9 out of 10, it has so much going for it and i can’t wait to see the next game

I already bought the game. I am just 4 games behind still. It could take a while. I have so many other RPGs still to play. Like Rune Factory. I even got the one on the Wii with the Protag from the first game. I can not play Tides of Destiny though, because every Wii copy is American and I live in Europe. Trails is great though. I hope I can play Daybreak in a timely manner.

I'm at the tail end of chapter 5, and I absolutely love this game. The battles felt closer to a one to one imagining of t happening in real time. Also, 90% of the characters are excellent. And the increased emphasis on diversity for sexual orientation, gender identity, race, and race related conflicts felt very timely The only things I didn't like were how the communication for some mechanics were handled, specifically the achievement system and shard skills, and how some characters felt more likely didn't matter in the long run, like some of the mafia members. One member has a weirdly disconnected resentment towards a character who's only related to her by race, and the other one was involved in a subplot that pretty much already ran its course. And the other one in this group felt like a step back for LGBT representation given how sadistic they were towards characters who ultimately died. Whether or not they survive is totally superfluous to the plot. If anything, they felt like they didn't belong in this series and were designed for a scrapped project.

I'm currently doing my new game+ run of the game to collect all the trophies I couldn't get in my first play through and the game is fantastic. I have the same nitpicks as you do, the voice acting and the turn order, and in other games, this might be a deal breaker, but trails does everything else so well that it's merely a minor annoyance. Here's the single thing I can say about trials: this franchise has ruined gaming for me. Trying playing another JRPG, or another game, after playing trails, when your bar for world-building, story and characters has been set so high, and be disappointed as other games fall so short of what trails accomplishes every time. For a guy who plays games for story, trails ruins the experience of other games by comparison.

I went back and forth over being excited for this game. The trailers didn't really interest me, and the setting was a bit jarring. Then I played the demo and loved it so much that I could barely wait until the full release. I definitely enjoyed it, but do feel like it's a bit overhyped. A few chapters did start to drag, and after 10 games, some bits just got stale. One thing I definitely appreciated was the stronger villain presence in this game.

I will say I don't think the trailers have been at their best recently for Falcom games. I wish that weren't the case, but I think it's an unfortunate weakness of NISA as a company

16 hours in and the game is so fucking boring and slow, honestly feel like I'm playing a ps2 game, cant believe I wasted money on this The animations are worse than some moba games, the skills and artes just look like shit There's 45 minutes of text for 15 minutes of exploration and combat Its like if persona still used the old ps2 chibi models Clearly they just go with the easiest formula they have to maximise on money made

Ended up refunding it after the first 5 hours, probably the most atrociously paced game I have ever played, so much pointless dialogues and overexplained tutorials, the dungeon crawling is terrible aswell, combat seems interesting but not good enough to keep my interest in the game.
