My ranking of the 6 Novels would be 1 - Dune 2 - Children of Dune 3 - Chapterhouse 4 - Dune Messiah 5 - Heretics 6 - God Emperor I know many people like the philosophical aspect of GEoD but i found it just so boring most of the time. But I really loved Children on the other hand which many people dislike for some reason

Good review of a massive work! You are indeed a philosopher at heart: God Emperor is total philosophy though it's hard to see how anyone could ever make a film out of it. (I don't mean to say that the book has no value without being turned into a film - far from! - but I do wonder about how to make such a cerebral work accessible for a wider public who might recoil at the thought of reading a "philosophical" novel...) I'll be happy to see even the first book turned into two fine films, but I'm definitely hoping for at least Dune Messiah and Children of Dune to make it onto the big screen before the decade is out. Beyond that, my limited prescience runs out...

I struggle to see how God Emperor of Dune will be adapted into a movie format without it either being boring and strange to most people or without it losing core parts of itself. I’m pretty certain that Dune: Messiah and Children of Dune will be adapted into movies (if the first Dune movie is a success). Maybe God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune would be better as a TV series? 🧐

You should check out the dune encyclopedia its very descriptive n feels more inline with frank Herbert books then his sons ever did i love it n consider it part of my collection including frank Herbert's Eye

What made me love dune messiah while reading it was the scene when the guy was on anorher planet during the jihad he saw water for the first time n how he went in the water n accepted thw chaos i love that line n that scene

its unfortunate that the film didnt come out until now, but hey, in case you havent seen the movie yet, you really have to. its AMAZING. ive been waiting SO long for it to come out and it honestly blew my expectations out of the water. i cant wait for part two.

I've seen the new DUNE movie in cinema five times now and I absolutely love it. I think its an incredible faithful adaptation of the book and a cinematic masterpiece. I have some criticisms but they are very minor. I just wish that an Extended Edition is made of the movie so I can watch the deleted scenes (this included scenes such as The Banquet, Lady Jessica and Dr Yueh talking about Yueh's wife Wanna, Dr Yueh giving Paul the OC Bible etc.

03:14 I hope you don’t take this wrong way. But when someone see videos like “Why you should read/watch .....” it’s because they’re about to read or watch it. It would be greater if you have non spoiler and spoiler section. So if someone wants to watch your video, they can watch the non spoiler section then come back after reading the book to watch the spoiler section. Just a little suggestion if you want to make a similar video in the future.

Social control by sex was present in Book 1, when a Fremen Reverend Mother (here Jessica) presides the tau orgy, this Fremen "rite" was transmitted to Fish Speaker, as seen in God-Emperor where Duncan Idaho gholas serve as proxy in "tau" ceremonies because Leto II's transformation prevents him to have intercourse (as obviously underlined with his relationsjip with Hwi Noree), then this "tau" is transmitted to Honored Matres when exiles from Fish Speakers and Bene Gesserit merge in the far away Scattering

Check out Doc Sloans channel on dune, its quite in depth. I don't really care about lack of action, the book is about real things in the world, not a cowboys and indians type scifi. I loved God Emperor too.

Thank you for the channel recommendation! I’m very busy at the moment in my life but I’ll definitely check out some of his content in the future. From a brief look it does look very interesting. I planned on exploring some similar ideas also within the DUNE series in the future (Jungian Archetypes, Collective Unconscious, Messianic Hero and Evolution).
