I agree 100 percent. I always take the opportunity to "clean house" when I buy a new phone. If you have contacts and apps and photos and videos you've not looked at or used for years, why clutter your phone with them?

It can be done, but it's something I wouldn't recommend unless you have a lot of time and patience. I did that when I upgraded from an iPhone 6 to iPhone X and I didn't finish until nearly five hours later!

You are very right i have always done this n i do have icloud plus n google photos n have never lost my contacts n other stuff... Made no difference to me at all 😊 plus once you finish the setup you can always go back n reload any other stuff you want manually.... Greetings from Sénégal 😊

Hello Marina I don’t understand about the iCloud. If you start the new iPhone from scratch then when you add the Apple ID all the apps and other things will download so it is not from scratch. Is this correct or not?

No the apps will not be back by just an iCloud, unless you've backed up the entire phone

Exactly. So I'm assuming Marina backs up her old phones data to Google Cloud, otherwise her old data would sync to her new phone once she signs into iCloud UNLESS she turns off things like photo sync which she would then not have her new data backed up.. Is this an accurate statement? 🤔 Wouldn't it make sense to turn off the auto bi-directional syncing of data? Allowing her new phone to sync data to the cloud but keep the old cloud data from downloading to her new device? Or even have a Vault like feature in iCloud to better manage what we want to sync to phone?
