Why should you go from the glamour of the Champions League to the depths of League 2 or the Championship? This video will cover all these questions as to why you should support your local team using real life examples and comparing what it feels like to support your local team compared to a team 200 miles away. Where prices are more expensive and the majority only see them on television.

Agree, some people prefer to take the easy and convenient option of choosing a winning team regardless of proximity. They get artificial wins, however they'll never get what it feels like to experience the overwhelming high of seeing your local team do well.

Mine's a bit different. I started watching Man Utd games when I was like 6 yrs old and then started supporting them. I didn't had a local team back then. My local team (NEUFC) was founded in 2014 and then I started supporting them as well. The local league happens for like 3-4 months, so I go to their games as much as I can and also watch Utd games.

Im a huge Manchester United fan from Dublin and supported United since I was six. I also support my local club bohemians that is shown there in the video and go week in week out because its hard to afford going to see my beloved Manchester United only go once a year twice if I'm lucky. One thing I learned was you have to experience live football regularly and everyone seems to know each other at local football and it is a community. You learn a lot more as a football fan the older you get and understand what it is really about and supporting your local team week in week out is definitely the way.

It’s completely impossible to support any other team. Well that's the case with everyone people like these big clubs because they buy the best players and therefore are pretty strong and new fans who get into football start supporting these clubs ( I am guessing you started supporting Chelsea when they were winning trophies) for u man you can be a Chelsea fan but not a supporter u might like their playing style but remember if u are not from West London then you are not a "supporter" of Chelsea so start supporting your local club but just be a "fan" of Chelsea . Interestingly there was a friendly at Aviva Stadium Dublin 6 years ago between Shamrock Rovers vs Liverpool. The fans who attended Aviva that day were 37,000 Liverpool and 5,000 Shamrock Rovers. This may come as a surprise to you but as an Irish football fan myself, I totally understand that the SSE Airtricity has to "Earn" Support from the paying customers and Not "Demand" support. I'm from County Meath and the closest Airtricity ground to me is 50 kilometres away from me and trust me I wouldn't attend an Irish league game if you or anyone else paid me €50. The fact Dundalk got humiliated 3-0 earlier this week by a team from tiny Slovenia completely reinforces my belief the SSE Airtricity League is nothing more than a Sunday Pub League. As a regular attendee of Manchester United games, one of my greatest memories was attending a game at Old Trafford where the presentation of the Premier League took place after a game against one of the club's former rivals Arsenal back in 2009.
@elliotyatesuk
@elliotyatesuk 4 жыл бұрын
Raymond Butler fair enough you attend man united games I don’t know many people who do that. Also with the Irish league I agree it’s not the best standards, this video was mainly directed to people from England with the Championship, LG1 etc. But the Irish league has produced their fair share of players like James McClean, Brad Jones, Damien Duff and Roy Keane

@@elliotyatesuk I see you showed a young boy enjoying attending a Bohemians game in Dublin Ireland. He also likes United and I wonder how much he would look forward to attend Old Trafford one day. Not denying that all footballers have to start somewhere in their career like them Irish Internationals you mentioned. However the UEFA League rankings don't even have SSE Airtricity in the Top 40 in Europe as Irish league is ranked below the likes of Slovenia, Cyprus, Norway, Israel, Kazakstan, Belarus, Slovakia, Lithuania etc.
@elliotyatesuk
@elliotyatesuk 4 жыл бұрын
Raymond Butler in my opinion watching Stoke for years and seeing how kids I know have never been to Anfield, Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford, I wouldn’t swap it for them. Supporting Stoke has led me going to to the FA Cup final, playing in Europe, achieving amazing results and seeing it all close up. You can’t replace that feeling of watching your side do well as it’s not just my team it’s my City, you don’t get that pride with those top 6 sides and chances are because of ticket prices most kids never will see them anyway
@raymondbutler834
@raymondbutler834 4 жыл бұрын
@@elliotyatesuk Although I do also regularly attend matches of my local Meath Gaelic Football Team, I feel as though the atmosphere, quality, drama and excitement is very limited compared to going over to attend big Manchester United games against Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich etc.
@elliotyatesuk
@elliotyatesuk 4 жыл бұрын
Raymond Butler i agree the quality is better but there’s just no chance you’re going to see any of it because of ticket prices they charge. Anfield is a classic example, fans only come out for European games which are impossible to get. And that also doesn’t dispute a league like the Championship is also good in quality, just because the teams in it aren’t world class. Makes supporting a team more exciting if you don’t know what’s going to happen, big 6 sides just win and you expect that to happen and the Premier League has become so uncompetitive and Championship and other leagues have completely destroyed that entertainment part

Plenty of trains to games from Piccadilly (if that’s near) that have cheaper tickets to games or even going to Man City via Manchester Piccadilly I’ve done that before and it was fine

I refuse to watch kilmarnock who have a 14k capacity stadium and fill only 2000 fans, have the worst home support in the spfl not really fun in that
