Alright. I love the idea of templates. I’ve been using Keep for years and it never occurred to me to make templates. Thank you !

Great tip to keep 3-4 'templates' pinned at the top, fantastic, wish i thought of that before 👏👍👍

I just started using Google Keep and like it very much. Your video was helpful for me to see how one can organize many different notes. I wish it was possible to record voice notes, too, on those walks! I also find that when I walk, I have some of my best ideas; doing a quick voice recording that is stored on Google Keep would be fantastic.

Love walks and yes like wise. I find I’m most creative then too.

What?! Loved the template idea! I have seen several Google keep videos and no one mentions this! Thanks for this!

Great video as always Jill. I just worry with Google that they’ll kill off support like they’ve done with so many other projects. They make me nervous!
@MrMaraxmanАй бұрын
Google Keep is here since 2013...so it is sort of established. And used by many users. Uncertainty is with every product. Who says that e.g. Notion will be here in 5 years? 🙂

They have added some new features recently, so I think it’s here to stay for a while. Another good feature is that you can back up using Google Takeout if they do decide to can it

Hi Jill…finally a Google keep user!! I love keep and have been using it for over 4 years now. I also use MS To Do but there is also friction due to the web version being sub par. Keep is consistent across my devices. iPhone, Samsung tab, and work pc laptop.

I love this video! I just moved my 700+ Apple Notes to Google Keep (for short term/actionable notes) and Google Drive (long-term archives and storage) recently as well. There has been much less friction for me with these apps than Apple Notes. I have also created a "Hub" document in Google Drive, which has been very helpful for keeping track of physical inventory and linking to all my digital tech, whether those are medical records, lease/insurance docs, various productivity apps, etc. Trying to get organized before my first baby is born next year 😄 I'd love to see a video someday about your "suite" of productivity tools!
@JillatchecktheboxАй бұрын
I’m trying to streamline this suite myself. I find myself trying new things and I would like to find a stable sustainable suite that is 👌

Great Video. Thanks for sharing the pinned template idea. I used to use Google Keep when I had Android phone. After like 5+ years with the Apple ecosystem, I have settled with Apple Notes. I do feel that I should keep my notes and task management apps that are compatible across platforms as I also have a work Windows laptop.
@shivajivarma7 күн бұрын
My only concern is that Google might choose to discontinue it at some point. It would also be great if there were an option for protected notes, such as requiring a fingerprint or OTP to unlock them, similar to the vault feature in OneDrive.

Well done video Jill. It has been years since I have tried Google Keep. Time to go explore and see if it fits into my current use case.

As a 4 year bujo guy, I think you'll love it. It's very good with rapid logging and truly keeping inventory. And Google keep, I've loved for quite some time, especially after Evernote wanted you to buy into their madness lol. Great video

Great video! I hadn't looked at Keep for a long while, I like the changes that have been made. It was also funny seeing my old notes in there :) I'm going to give it a go again because like you, I love the visual style of keep especially now it has those backgrounds (wasn't aware of those). Congrats on hitting your end of year target with almost 2 weeks to go! Yay and Merry Christmas, look forward to seeing your videos in the future.

There is a Bullet Journal app that can be used to take quick digital notes then added to the paper based bullet journal if needed.
@TheCodeTinkererАй бұрын
My biggest grieve was also moving away from native Apple notes implementation on the devices. Keep is a great capture app, but lacks a heavier word processing ability akin to Apple Notes, Microsoft OneNote or something similar. Having to use Google Docs to supplement is just a nogo. Using Samsung Dex alleviates this a bit, but yes using Keep in a browser is one of my most used apps. If the goal is to build a second brain Keep sadly cant stand alone
@tiffanyb.3876Ай бұрын
I use to use Keep all of the time, but stopped because I use Samsung Notes more often. However, since I have an iPad and Samsung phone Keep would be useful. I never thought about that!!

For years i've wanted to get into google keep but it didn't make sense. this simple system akes it make sense. I hit the same challenge with tech stack. I have been an apple user but ended up with a pixel and needed to move from apple notes. I've been using Upnote as alternative, but for quick ideas theres more friction then needs to be to use it. THanks for the google keep idea!

@JillatchecktheboxАй бұрын
The minimalist in me couldn’t cope with having two phones. I couldn’t part with my iPhone so i sent the pixel back 😢
@antcooperАй бұрын
I can see why a second phone would feel like a lot. The Pixel lineup certainly looks interesting, I had one briefly about 5 years ago but returned it because it was faulty. Got a Galaxy Note afterwards which I kept for a year or so. I returned to the iPhone though because I’d got my family onboard with everything Apple and whilst I’m keen to try new things, nobody else likes change very much.
@mrskeltal9665Ай бұрын
I found both apple notes and google keep not suitable for main personal information system and suitable only for ephemeral notes with short lifetime or as inbox which has to be processed later like with readlater tools
@ogdanemАй бұрын
I'm confused. In one video, you show us that you are using Onenote, and then, on the go, you use Apple notes. So why did you leave both of them and jump to G-Keep? You can use Apple notes via iCloud on the web. How did you move all your notes from Onenote and Apple notes into G-Keep?
@antcooperАй бұрын
Also, I still use Evernote, which has had a resurgence of late. But the iPad experience isn’t great. I do wonder if just using Keep and then the option ‘Copy to Google Docs’ if the Note grows too much would just be easier.

Happy to see Google keep getting love. I prefer this to others because it's simplicity. I don't need the complex features things like Notion offers. Great video as usual Jill. I have tried various note taking apps - I never quite understand when people talk about out their 400 or 700 notes - I make notes to remember things and then delete them once they have served their purpose - I probably have 10 which I keep long term but the rest I just delete once I use the information. Any more than that I find it harder to find the note than searching for the information again a fresh.

That's great! But I use Apple Notes on my iPhone and Mac for quick captures. I have a shortcut to open a note, and I can easily save screenshots, voice notes, and links. Later, I transfer them to Obsidian or Things 3.
@JillatchecktheboxАй бұрын
Nice! 👌 that sounds like a good set up. What helps you make that decision when you hit the point of transfer to either obsidian or things 3? How do you decide which one to transfer your note to? Curious to know if it’s a simple decision?
@jebaker2Ай бұрын
My BIGGEST problem with Apple Notes is the walled garden. Yes, they do have a web version you can use on non-Apple devices but it's VERY clunky. Keep is not bad and I like simplicity in a notes app but, man... it's a little too basic. I can't even change a font color, bold type or insert a pic into the doc unless it's an XL one right at the top. It wouldn't take much to make this a great app for those of us in the Google ecosystem.
@RavenMaster357Ай бұрын
Nice video, but if you already use one note for work, why don't use it for personal notes?
@JillatchecktheboxАй бұрын
I find that it isn’t as nice to use for quick note taking on the mobile and I have the joys of two step authentication with my work account 🙈 which creates more friction when I don’t want it.
@RavenMaster357Ай бұрын
oh, now I see the point. I used to work with Evernote but nowadays is just awful experience. I’m moving my las 200 notes into one note and not renewing my membership. Keep is really good also, it helps to manage more personal info

I’m interested in seeing how you navigate an Android phone with an iPad as your main computing device and a Windows desktop at work. You have chosen the most complicated cross-platform workflow ever. I see this ending with you going all Android and ditching the iPad for an Android tablet.
@JimmyClarke1Ай бұрын
I've got the same setup and it's frictionless. All of the Google and Microsoft apps are really good quality on the iPad and sync perfectly. I've had android tablets in the past and they just don't feel as nice to use as an iPad so they end up in the drawer. Whereas my iPad mini goes everywhere with me and has become my main device.
