Update as February 15th, 2022: It seems Paramount+ randomly took down all of the seasons (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa). I don't know why and I'm not sure if/when they'll come back. I'll update this message if things change. Really disappointing. Regardless of Paramount+, I still recommend checking out Australian Survivor.

The only way we can watch it now is on the 10Play app using a VPN. Which is way to risky to do. I have canceled my Paramount Plus. I did wait for 1883 to finish their season, though.

I love your version so much! I watched all the more recent seasons between 40 & 41 of US. I found myself almost let down by the brevity & by comparison, rushed editing of American Survivor. It was a shock to the system after at first. And I’ve gotta say, I love JLP. He isn’t quite as sassy as Jeff. But he gives us so much of what we love about Probst without it feeling like an imitation. You’ve got a great show. I hope it continues for many more seasons!

I’m loving Australian survivor. Two things I’ve noticed: Australians seem to be able to take losing in challenges better than Americans. I always see the winning team saying nice things to the losing team, and the losing team smiling back at them. I don’t see that in US survivor. I’d HATE it if the winning team that’s about to go eat burgers tried to shake my hand or say “bad luck guys!” 😅 I’m just a sore loser, so I love to see how much more MATURE the Australian players seem to be. Maybe it’s editing 🤷🏻♀️ Other thing I notice is how much STRONGER the contestants seem to be. I just watched that hug-the-pole challenge in the 2016 one. I think the winner lasted SIX HOURS ? Correct me if I’m wrong, but the longest an American lasted was..2 hours? Not even? Almost all the female Australian players have washboard abs. And I mean…55 days vs. our now 26 days. Y’all are just tougher! Respect.

I watched Champions VS Contenders 2 and it just blows every US season out of the water. They actually develop the characters. The challenges are rough and high stakes. It’s longer. It’s brutal, cutthroat, and every episode has big moves and blindsides. It’s AWESOME.
@punkw78522 жыл бұрын
Absolutely!! The contestants are athletes that show good sportsmanship, win or lose. They compete for their team’s win, not the individual show they are setting up to be an internet character after the season wraps up. The Australian, and all other non-US survivor shows are about the sport & competition. I’m so glad we (US) have access to a few of these seasons.

Everyone talks about S2 of Aus Survivor being the best but honestly I think Champions vs Contenders 2 doesn’t get anywhere near enough credit. The storytelling is fantastic and the cast, especially the ones they focus on the most overall, are very compelling. Big characters, great strategic gameplay, unpredictable votes/blindsides, frequent power shifts, it’s brilliant. Maybe I need to watch S2 again to compare but Dirty Harry, Golden God David, King of the Jungle Luke, Janine The Godmother, Pia the Smiling Assassin, the dominant girls alliance, Pia’s FTC, the Abbey blindside, the emotionally charged tribal when Luke goes, his insane immunity run, and even stuff from pre merge with the downfall of the sporty alliance, David and Shaun’s rivalry, Harry’s idol plays, Daisy’s betrayal of David, I could go on for hours. It’s a terrific season!

I love that you made this video, but IMO, it doesn't go far enough into how AU is better than US Survivor. For example, ever wondered how the players strategize about how they're gonna do a challenge, just before it starts? AU has that. And yeah, some people get over shadowed in the edit, but the people that are overshadowed *get more screen time in general* than their US counterparts, simply because there's more episodes and more footage of them talking strategy. And yeah there are some advantages and the occasional Redemption Island, but they're used sparingly, unlike US. Another oddity I noticed while binging AU Survivor is that almost everyone is super nice to each other. Australians just seem like nice people.
@jenniferconstantine90412 жыл бұрын
Yes, the cast is much more likeable and nice. It reminds me of the early seasons of Survivor where everybody wasn't a game bot.
@frida.78312 жыл бұрын
Well, in Brains vs Brawn the edit was a mess for a great season. One of the mid merge boots didn't get any confessional after the merge and the 7th place didn't have a confessional like two thirds of the episodes
@xJwp2525x2 жыл бұрын
I agree with the last part heavily, one of my biggest gripes with US survivor is some players not being able to respect the game as a game. US survivor players get so bitter in a hypocritical way, while in AUS the majority of players commend good gameplay / deceit in the end if it was the right move.
@kellymitchell71642 жыл бұрын
YES about that last part! I notice the winning team always shaking hands/patting backs of the losing team, and the losing team smiling back at them. Just like “bad luck guys!” That’d never happen in US survivor. Or it’s edited out? But as an American myself, I am a SORE loser and can only imagine I’d just be giving a death glare to the winning team as they go off to eat burgers 😅

Yo, coming back to this video after Australian Survivor Titans vs Rebels ended, literally my favourite season and second favourite winner of all time, please make another video cos we had: 1. Two big players out for each other in the pre-merge, who then form a bond and work with each other throughout the merge, finally coming to a heartbreaking end. 2. Pretty much everyone playing in the merge was active and had a chance to win. 3. Great use of idols, fake idols and the new "Ultimate Vote" advantage. Blindsides were great to watch. 4. Very diverse cast, with a mixture of funny, calculating and mischievous personalities. 5. Even in the Final Tribal Council I was impressed by the runner-up's speech despite knowing they had no chance. 6. The production quality and the cinematography is crazy good (editing might be skewed but personally I didn't mind).

My main criticism of our Survivor in Australia is the frankenbiting. So many edits of sentences that just have been clipped from multiple other sentences... Sounds really off, almost to the point of it seeming like the editors just making up whole things sometimes. Like someone will be talking, then halfway through it goes loud, then the next word is quiet again, then loud again...

Maybe not with the level of sound but US Survivor does the same. I was just watching and interview with Ricard where he pointed out that the audio playing during a conversation with him and Shan was actually Shan talking to someone else at a different time. But the camera was showing the back of Shans head and Ricard just reacting to it. And it made it look like Ricard was being told by Shan what the plan was for a vote when in reality it was Ricard who came up with the idea in the first place. So always have to remember there are heavy edits to tell the narrative the producers and editors want to tell.

This was the most epic season of Survivor I have ever witnessed. Now I get to introduce my sister to the greatest season of Survivor ever.

The other thing regarding the hour long episodes is we also get 3 a week in a row. It basically plays Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night which I personally am a big fan of

Also in australia it airs 3-4 nights a WEEK Sunday-Tuesday/Wednesday (depending if Bachelor/ette is back on)

I’ve been binge watching your survivor videos lately and as an Australian, was so happy to see this video and even so proud you enjoyed watching the Australian cultural difference lol! Loved your Aussie pronunciation of ‘surviva’ towards the end and the ‘day dot’ lol 😂 (even as an Aussie, I hate the overuse of that particular slang in the show hahah) Love your videos!

I agree 💯🔥🔥 All of the AU Survivor seasons have been phenomenal! Even the host JLP is truly authentic to the game!

Peridiam is correct. The water in Aussie toilets doesn't spin the opposite way... because it doesn't spin at all (due to the design of the toilets). But if you fill a hand basin or sink with water then pull the plug out the water does spin the opposite way to when in the northern hemisphere.

As an aussie, the only thing that bothers me is the casting. I hate having B and C grade celebs on it. I much rather watch everyday people who can use the money more. You Americans won't know who anyone is(apart from Russell, which was the worst casting decision and episode ever. And Sandra) because they are aussie 'celebs.' We don't need to watch ex aussie rules footballers who made 500k a year try and win more money!

I dont think you need to be an Aussie to feel this way. That said, David is probably top 5 of all the contestents so far.

I agree with you 100%, I have had such a great time watching Aus Survivor. And I yes the challenges are more brutal. I would love to see a season of US v Aus Survivor: best of the best. Thank you for shining a light on this.

Facts! Just finished brains vs brawn (wanted to see if it was worth watching) and started champion vs challenger 2. So pumped to hear they added all the seasons. Definitely recommend watching if your a fan of the show in general.

My teacher was on the brawn team Emmett Pugh - in real life, he's an alright person to chat to. He was a sub and after school gym teacher. Pretty crazy seeing him on TV.

YES...the challenges are FAR more wicked in Australian Survivor than the US counterpart. No idea why they couldn't do those same challenges for the US version. I didn't know about the New Zealand or South African ones, so thanks! When we're done with Champions vs Challengers Part Deux, we will have to check those out as well. Thanks!

It is definitely worth watching. I was not sure about it at first but holy crap I was wrong. It is so fun to watch the characters and AU Survivor does so many things right that US Survivor needs to do or go back to in some cases. Seriously, highly recommended and oh thanks Peridiam for the reminder about the rest of the AU Survivor seasons on Paramount+. I totally forgot about it. :D

Aussie Survivor is brutal. I think US survivor players would do well with the politics and scheming, but the physical challenges and surviving aspect would crush most of the Mericans. I think players like James Clement would thrive.

I've seen all US and AUS seasons and highly recommend the ozzies. I've enjoyed their seasons much more than US ones in all aspects. Challenges are out of this world. Great casts, big move players, great strategic play. They got everything.

It's great that three episodes are broadcast per week. Makes the series fly by. Better challenges in Oz series - they really physically push the castaways. There are fewer idols. I don't care for 'biographical back story' edits, but I suppose I'm a minority. US series gets better rewards.

The first season is one of my favorite survivor seasons ever. The storyline and characters are top notch.
@Jacobmelrose262 жыл бұрын
Australian Survivor is definitely my favorite of the two at the moment. Although I will say the only thing better about the US version is casting, But only slightly. David the Golden God, Dirty Harry, Shonee, AK, Brooke and many more I can name are all brilliant but there are quite a few boring characters in there as well. US does a better job of putting together all around more entertaining cast but thats just me. Everything else about AUS I love more. The longer seasons, the not too over the top advantages, the editing, camp life is all amazing. On season 6 right now and its yet to fully pull me in but that could be just because season 5 was so great.

I just started watching Australian survivor (I’ve seen every episode of the us version) I’m loving it so far, I had no idea Russell and Sandra were in the Australian version as well, that’s awesome. I also wish paramount plus had the older seasons of the Australian version. personally I feel like the older seasons are more raw and everyone is still tryna figure out the game, instead of scrambling to find alliances right off the bat

Australian Survivor is great. Sometimes the longer episodes can drag on with boring content. But overall they’ve produced great moments. The twists can feel a bit unfair too and production favoritism shows, so it’s not perfect.
@MegaUnavailableusern2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't compare to jeff probst and actual students of game ie american survivors. Jonathan has to be the dumbest survivor host possible and asks the most basic questions as if everyone doesn't already know the answer to.

What would be awesome is an ultimate season with winners from all English speaking countries competing. Australian, USA, New Zealand, and South Africa, and maybe the hosts have something too. I don’t know which would be better, the tribes by countries or make the tribes mixed. Maybe call it something like The Ultimate Survivor????

As an Aussie its funny how you Pronounce Aussie as Ozzie😂 I love that the Aussie players are a bit more kind and trusting rather than backstabbing and rude (no offence US just an observation) but i like that the game has a stronger sense of family while still maintaining a good level of drama throughout
