Why You Shouldn't Always buy Mixed Planters...CAUTION

Sometimes buying one of those beautiful mixed planters is not always a wise idea. Mixed planters often contain combinations of flowers that do not go well together. These mixes can have cool weather flowers such as lobelia that look stunning early in the season but as soon as the sun and heat arrive, they struggle to survive. Others can have aggressive growing plants like petunias that will outcompete and suffocate slower growing varieties. The results won't be visible till after you've purchased and grown it for a little while. Sometimes they contain plants perfect for each other! The moral is to always check the tags and do a little research about the plants in the container. A little prep work can save you a lot of headaches down the road. Happy gardening!
