I went in wanting an FUT surgery to a hair transplant clinic. The doctor was insistent I get FUE. Even though I had researched the pros and cons of both and the benefits of an FUE weren't important to me, I accepted his advice being that he was the medical professional. I am now certain I will need another transplant, and that FUT was the right move. Be aware, many doctors will try to extract as much money as they can from you rather than do what is in your best interest.

It’s really too bad so many clinics don’t do FUT anymore. It’s such a good option for patients with less dense donor hair who could still get amazing results if they would do FUT. Hair transplants aren’t supposed to be a quick fix, they need to be able to last long and be patched up where needed. Thanks for bringing this to people’s attention.

Very good video! I am having an FUE in Budapest next week. The clinic have advised 1700 grafts. I am a Norwood 3. Would you suggest FUT for candidates with more severs hair loss ?

Much appreciated info. I assume you're already considering the likelihood of one or more FUE interventions in the future, so it kind of makes sense you chose FUT first. Now, you've got me reconsidering FUT though my case is slightly different to yours even though we have very similar hair type. One thing I wonder about is the skin feeling tight at the back of the head post FUT procedure, especially if you end up doing 2 separate FUTs. I've been losing my hair (receding area) for 30 years but the loss has been very slow compared to most men, though over the last 3 months or so I've been noticing more hair loss than normal (it might be primarily stress related). I'm still undecided whether FUE or FUT would suit me better. I've never taken finasteride or minoxidyl and my donor area has pretty full, thick hair. What you said right at the end about FUT being primarily for, at least a Norwood 5 or young people with significant hair loss has me thinking I might be a better FUE candidate. I'm 45 and a Norwood 2-3.

No problems usually with skin tightness at the back. I agree with you if you need 1,500 grafts or less I wouldn’t be against FUE alone at age 45 with NW2-NW3.

@@DrParissis I had at look at the standard Norwood chart again and I definitely seem to be a NW3. I think I'd need more than 1500 grafts. Do you provide online consultations, DrParissis?
