The number of cosmetic procedures is skyrocketing. In the last ten years, we’ve gone from about 14 million to 35 million treatments, more than doubling. Social scientist Anne-Mette Hermans from Tilburg University is researching the impact this increase has on young people. They are growing up with a relatively ‘normalized’ view of cosmetic procedures. Will lip fillers and Botox soon be as routine for them as a visit to the hairdresser?
